I hate horde...

I gotta say, even though I'm on a PvP server now, I'm really a carebear at heart. ::stare::

I first started (way back in the day) playing on a high pop pvp server, but I could never find a peace in it. I'd do a quest and run into 3 alliance camping the spot and we'd all get rolled by 5 horde just roaming around. I actually stepped back from the game for a bit because I just wanted to level my characters in peace! Stop killing me till I'm max level and actually care about PvP.

It wouldn't be so bad, but I had my first experience in PvP in DAOC with RvR. Most of my first year was just hitting max level, so I COULD PVP. I got camped so badly doing the solo stuff I wanted to do. At least there I could grind out my remaining xp needed in the southern areas. I came to WoW and... now every zone over 20 is PvP flagged? ack! ::runs and hides::. I hit the PvE servers and never looked back. Ever since then, it was always a challenge, whenever I rolled with characters on a PvP server, even after having several max level mains/alts, I hated having to switch gear and suddenly have to PvP well.

Eventually I got over it to the point my druid and hunter main is on a PvP server. That, and I chose a truly horde dominated server (Demon soul ftw). Its ever so much easier to smile at thieving alliance scum when the zerg is on your side.

I remember on baby horde characters on PvP servers being ganked relentlessly by characters MUCH higher level than me. I remember Mcfrosty the human mage, I remember a sucky druid and a level 50-something gnome rogue hanging out in Hillsbrad for some unknown reason. Sometimes my level 30-ish friends were enough in number that we could bring down our cruel attacker. Other times, we all got spanked. I find that the worst gankers, at least when I was on a PvP server, by far were gnomes and night elves. They just seemed so much more immature. By comparison, I don't remember the names of any horde ganker that's gotten me. I'm sure there's been some, but none that were bad enough to sear a permanent place on my memory.

Alliance have gankers. Horde have gankers. Yes, some of them are annoying enough that they get thrills from corpse-camping lowbies. At that point it's best to just log off and watch TV for half an hour to cool your mind and to give them a reason to leave.

I admit that I gank a lowbie here and there just for the fun of it and it gives me a great sense of evil, and I cackle. But one kill is enough, and I leave the poor sap alone. I've inconvenienced them, but hopefully I've also taught them not to run flagged through STV on the road. I've played the ganker and I've been the ganker, in moderation neither are a great evil. But too much of one or the other can start to sully the experience.

I agree with everyone else and say that it's really unfair to judge a whole faction based on a few pvp-related incidents in a pvp zone. But, do what you will.

I think overall Horde players are a little bit mature. I would give this stat that I just made up:

Alliance players average maturity age: 13
Horde players average maturity age: 14

Alliance Trade Chat average maturity age: 4
Horde Trade Chat average maturity age: 5

Anyone think this is correct?

Mankrik is essentially an orc who hates quillboar. No. Hate doesn't quite cut it. Loath? Despise?

They overwhelmed him and his wife enjoying a romantic slaughter one night in the Barrens. He woke up with a hang over. She didn't wake up. She's dead somewhere along the road between Camp Taurajo and Crossroads near an abandoned hut.

Anyways, once you find her mutilated corpse, he happily sits there in the Crossroads thinking evil evil thoughts while sending you off to commit Quillboar genocide... because the best vengence is... making other people kill the ones who... killed the one you loved... in self defense... yeah...

Its a viscious cycle and Minkriks wife will never find peace as long as Quillboars and Barrens Chat exists... Mankrik on the other hand all fine and well... till the alliance roll over the place again.

As for the whole ganking thing.....I still remember the first time I was ganked XD On a PVE server no less. I was on my blood elf rogue in the mid 20's, leveling with a spriest friend in Ashenvale. We were both still pretty new to WoW. We got a leeeeettle too close to that one Retreat place trying to kill the nymphs for a quest, and aggro'd a guard. Somehow despite being insanely outleveled by that guard, we managed to get away, but we were flagged pvp in the process. Still, we were TOTALLY psyched to be alive.

Next thing you know, a skull-leveled Night Elf comes casually trotting down the road on his robo chicken. He stops in front of us. Seems to pause a second. Then he dismounts, and....shoots?! My friend and I were very dead, very fast. I didn't even realize what'd happened until the release box was in front of me. I didn't even catch the guy's name! XD We ran back, my friend decided to be clever and scope the area as a ghost first to make sure he wasn't there anymore, rezed, and continued on our questing.

I complained to a friend who'd been playing since vanilla later. She kinda paused for a moment and then went, "You know he could have just been shadowmelding and waiting, right? Night elves have a natural stealth..." My jaw dropped. Caught my leveling friend by surprise too.

And that was my intro to pvp. Never been a fan since XD

World PvP USED to be fun. Just ask anyone who spent all night defending Southshore or Tarren Mills, or the assaults on Crossroads. Not the jerkhole assaults now, when twenty or thirty alliance would go there, poke it, and wait for the horde to come a knockin'. It just.....doesn't have the same appeal anymore. For one the guards are way to easy to kill. For another, and I hate to harp, but resilience really kind of killed the feel of it too.

I remembered I did that quest on Fio, then when I clicked on Mankrik's wife corpse and had just turned in the quest with her, I got an emote from my pet that said, "Rupeé clatters his claws excitedly for beaten corpse." To him, it was all like singing the happy bass song.

It seems that when Xroads is getting pulverized by alliance that is when the general or the local defense chat becomes most active, and it's not just the constant "Crossroads is under attack!" spam. There's even been a nasty chat one time during Xroads being pulverized when the players in general chat were trying to shoo away another horde player that seemed to support the alliance all the way.
