Re: How to tame the Burning Boars!
I just got mine after 2 hours of trying. I just hope Blizz isn't going to "hot fix" it so that all these pets we're taming with special effects on them won't lose them at some point. Been playing their game way too long to NOT be wary.
On a side note, knowing that some pets lose their special effects upon dying, I decided to risk it and see if the flaming pig would lose his fire should he die. Good news, he doesn't. I don't know about Arenas, I don't do PVP.

Re: How to tame the Burning Boars!
Thanks for the guide! Made the tame last night before I read about the easy macro way to do things. Anyway named him Combustible!

Re: How to tame the Burning Boars!
Kittykat and Ilostmystaff , both of your posts finally did the trick for me. I was not sure what to do at the end, just wait, or as someone said "spam revive pet".
I had the help of my other account and leveled a druid to 3-4. It was the 7th quest.
I would ice trap, hit tame and then flip to the druid and hit flame.
I used all kinds of timing. But this time I did spam the abandon pet macro at the last few seconds and the tame took. One way I knew something was different was when there was just nothing, and no body. Yet when I tried to revive pet, it said my pet was not dead. So I logged out and saw the piggie. Once logged on, I was able to call pet.
We are a tenacious bunch!

Re: How to tame the Burning Boars!
alright tried both spam macro and quick revive nothing worked for me, yet.. but i'm calling it for now after 2 days of frustration. Well at least I got to keep the glowy carrion birds
)

Re: How to tame the Burning Boars!
So what is the difference between spamming Revive Pet with 2-3 seconds to go on tame, or using the Pet Abandon macro at around the same time?
edit: I (L.80) was able to get a Boar-on-Fire by finding one that was eating from the trouph and backing up til my Tame Beast icon said I was out of range, then moved forward a little.
Took off some gear til I had about 15% haste. Shot an ice trap on the boar. Threw the torch, then immediately started spamming Tame Beast... once I saw Tame Beast doing it's thing I watched the cast bar and when it was about 50% done I started spamming Revive Pet... I kept spamming it til I noticed it was reviving the pig... Once revived it turned out to be the normal non-fire version... but I kept doing the same exact thing over and over til one time it revived it as a Boar-On-Fire.
It took me about an hour of tries... the boars spawn pretty quickly and would have probably got it sooner but I quit trying when there were low level players doing quests there.
I might name him Denzel. ...ehhh... maybe not.

Re: How to tame the Burning Boars!
So I showed my flaming boar to a friend and it went something like this:
Me: Boy do I have something to show you.
Friend: What?
Me: Just meet me at the stables.
Friend: Ok
A couple minutes later:
Me: So, what do you think of this pet? (referring to the flaming boar)
Friend: Is your pig on fire?
Me: Yes
Friend: WTF! How'd that happen?!?
Me: He stood in the fire.
I told her to check this place out. If only the name Stoodinthefire weren't too long...

Re: How to tame the Burning Boars!
it does infact keep fire if it dies lol this is awsome
Re: How to tame the Burning Boars!
On Nesingwary (on Daenak), Saon and I spent FOREVER trying to do it. We finally managed once we spammed the AbandonPet() macro when one second left, worked first time for me, then third or fourth for her.
On Winterhoof it went a lot easier. I tamed it on Ashiena in one shot. Trap, torch, tame, then AbandonPet() when one second left.
With my boyfriends level 35 hunter, he tried for a while himself before I went to help him. He got it one shot, and it was easier to coordinate because we were sitting beside each other. All of the times he was trying himself, his tame was ending one second shot. So what we did was count 1, 2, 3. On two, he clicked tame, and on three, I threw the torch. With one second left he spammed the macro and it worked like a charm.
Just a little extra hints for people looking to tame the boar!

Rejoined the hunt after a lengthy break... feels good!

Re: How to tame the Burning Boars!
I tried pressing revive pet, and it interrupted my tame when I pressed it, every time.
The pet abandon macro does NOT interrupt the tame, and it's worked for me every time:
Flaming Pig
Green Arakkoa Protector with blue mist
Lone Hunter with sword.
Worked every single time, even if I had to try a couple times, it always worked.

4 of us ran into each other and we each got our own pigs (I'm Razorique in the middle)!

and all wrathed for good measure.

Thanks Rhineaux, Nemesis and Treily!
Edit: No idea who shatterstorm is, damn druid photobombing!

Epic boar is epic. Named him Nago, after the boar god at the beginning of Princess Mononoke. He had been shot with "iron", and his hate turned him into a demon; and since this guy's got armor on and is on fire, it seemed fitting.

I was just about to go get mine and name him exactly that! I like the way you think.Rhyela wrote:Named him Nago, after the boar god at the beginning of Princess Mononoke. Here's a short youtube video I uploaded of me taming the burning boar. This is attempt number 4ish using the abandon pet macro. Enjoy.

Re: How to tame the Burning Boars!
The fire pigs look so awesome in Bestial Wrath. xD If I didn't already have 2 boars that I love I'd be sorely tempted to grab one of these guys.

Re: How to tame the Burning Boars!
I so want this as well
Right now, im stalking a level 1 tauren, hoping he goes for the quest
And i did it
What i did, was to wait for a horde to come on the quest, when they got close to the feedingbox, i started tameing the boar, and they would throw the flames on, as i've done most of the tamingtime. Worked like a charm ^^

And i did it

Re: How to tame the Burning Boars!
