Yes, GC has confirmed that the increase to Steady Shot damage is in addition to, not instead of, the increase in damage to Arcane Shot.

And so far as gemming is concerned - it varies by hunter, apparently. I switch things up in the spreadsheet every few days to make sure I'm getting the most out of my gear, and every time I switch my AP gemming for AGI, I lose DPS. I have heard that there's some magical number where AGI is supposed to be better for Beast Mastery, but I have never heard the specific figure quoted anywhere, so it's a little difficult to shoot for if it's true.

This will all be easier with the Cataclysm stat changes, since ap won't exist anymore. ;)

Well, AP WILL exist, just not flat out on gear... It will be shown in character menu still, but there just won't be any gems for it, or AP on gear, it'll all be Agi.

Right, meaning that it'll be impossible to "stack" AP vs. agility. :)

Agreed, and besides... who would stack AP over Agi in cata anyways?(hunter-wise) 2AP per 1 Agi ftw

Wouldn't it be better to replace Glyph of Serpent Sting? It doesn't increase damage any, it just means you have to use the sting, say, two times instead of three. Why not use another glyph that increases damage?

It buffs Chimaera Shot. That's why it's in almost every cookiecutter build.

*pokes Saturo* This is a BM thread! xD

@Mr. Perfect: The glyph for serpent sting means that you don't have to waste a global/mana refreshing it as often. What other damage-dealing glyph would you suggest for BM? There aren't that many options.

I run with Kill Shot, Steady Shot, and Hawk glyphs myself. I ran the serpent sting glyph through my spreadsheet and it came out to a loss of damage for me. For a different gear and glyph setup, the serpent glyph may be an improvement...one of those "your mileage may vary" things.

So I just plugged in Gim into Female dwarf, and in a 25 man setting(All buffs and debuffs present), using my BM spec with a Devilsaur is giving me about a 200dps lead on my MM Imp HM(Glyphed and Specced) build with wolf. And also, I was surprised to see that the [Incisor Fragment] *Blue ArP trinket that drops off the Devilsaur in DTK* gives me a better dps than [Mark of Supremacy] does...

I have no idea, that's why I asked.

Although, I might suggest Hunter's Mark. Rank 5 of Hunters mark is a 500AP bonus, so if you add the 20% glyph bonus it goes up to 600. Does another 100AP on every shot you fire provide more damage then not wasting a cooldown once in a while?

Hunter's Mark is best used on a marks hunter who's specced into improved mark. Sizeable buff for the hunters in the raid. It goes without saying that you'll benefit more from the glyph if you're not that one with the glyph, but why not reap the full benefits of it by going all-out on one of the marks hunters? :)

Ala me. In my guild I am the MM/HuntMark guy. All the other hunters know that if I'm raiding in my Marks spec, then they don't put HM up. And personally, the 250 ap bonus from being glyphed/specced is pretty nice.

The nice thing is that if you're hit-capped off gear and such, you're not even giving up THAT much personal dps. :)

I'm not aiming to be the best and tbh I do like my rotation of SS-AS-AS-SS [sting, aimed, arcane, steady] and I've pulled off 4k dps on Yas with it, with buffs ofc but if I could pull off 4k ...

I also have/perfer Aimed Shot over Multi Shot because I can ping it off on the go, this is especially useful for me for fights where I darent stop for to long least I get to caught up in dpsing and well like with Ignis, end up infront of the boss.

he grabbed Ryai and threw her into his crotch pocket :(

What I'd really like help with tho is with Yas; http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-talen ... eni+Mardia when she's hitcapped outside of gems/the focused aimed talent, idk where to put the last three points for a respecc. Should they go in BM to finish off CS and Frenzy? Or should I get imp Hunter's mark? And the Hunter's mark glyph? Or should I get Kill Shot if I put the points in CS and Frenzy?

I'd just like some input tbh.

Those three points I have into Imp. Tracking, also, I thought I'd mention, Go for the throat has a huge dps boost on the first point, but the second doesn't give much, While the last point in Cobra Strikes is a very hefty dps boost. so when you re-spec, you might want to consider putting on of the GftT points into CS to cap it off? And with frenzy, you don't see a dps boost by capping it off, the 3 points is all you need in it.

If you'd like to see my setup: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-tale ... %89an+Corr

Edit: Why does it show you as a Tuskarr Hunter?

When I'm rolling as BM, I'm not using multi OR aimed for the most part. I use multi when I need to cleave, but for the most part, I focus my dps with steady. Could be my gear, though. I save arcane shot for movements. The way to max out dps as any caster class is to minimize your movements. This can come down to prepositioning yourself well and just plain RNG.

How do you end up in front of Ignis? o_O Unless he's being kited in ways I can't even fathom...

(As for the tuskarr thing, check out the date of your post and think about it. ;))

Trust me I can bring a whole new level to fail by just looking down or away from the computer screen for one second. We were tanking him in the standard 4 spot circle/square rotation, outside of a few hiccups here and there when tank lost aggro. I think it was then that I somehow ended up infront and well that's when the fun began.

And thanks for the input you two

With the Steady Shot buff, Kalliope, suddenly high-gear beast masters need to gem like Marksmen...I had to switch my gemming to Armor Pen about a week ago. BM does it at a lower level of ArPen from gear, and are encouraged to drop Arcane Shot from the priority save for when moving at about 750 ArPen or so. I'd heard that BM could make good use of ArPen shortly before patch, but could never find a solid number for the threshold to start gemming it. Finally, after 3 cubed hit, Frostheim over at the Warcraft Hunters' Union worked out the threshold and at what level BM needs to drop Arcane Shot.

I can tell a distinct difference. Part of it, I'm sure, is the SS buff. But...in Vault on Tuesday, I was doing about the same amount of DPS I normally do in there all buffed and tricked out...only I wasn't using my epic raiding arrows and was using my cat Daishar instead of Clayburn. So it's definitely something to check out if you're a beast master and interested in that kind of thing.

HA! That's incredible, Tahlian! That explains why my regular marks gear (with lots of passive ArP) holds up really well with BM. :)

I'm actually really happy to hear that BM hunters are rockin' ArP too, even with the forthcoming Cataclysm changes. That style meshes better with the stats on ICC gear. It's more fair overall.

Oh Ryai, if the tank's losing aggro, that's a whole different issue. Unless you were the one who initially pulled, then it doesn't sound like it was your fault.
