Hmm, well...

Serket, black/red Scorpion, shes female. Shes named after the Egyptian scorpion Goddess, I could consider her male, but her name means "She who tightens the throat" so the name would be awkward.

Hidden, my transparent/really hard to see Jormungar is male.

Archelon is male, hes my turtle (using the model of Ghamoo'ra)

Qiraja is female, wasp, using Princess Huhuran's model.

Ursa is female, shes my Arcturis bear.

BETCH is ... I haven't really thought about it. BETCH is my pink tallstrider. Name is a reference to the shoes video from youtube. xD

My hunter herself is female. Also, I definitely assumed this was a topic about implementing a gender into pets. I thought it was going to be about the possibility of breeding pets, which I thought would be awesome. Breeding a wasp with a scorpion gives you a scorpion with the stun ability instead of the clasp ability?
Or being able to have a tenacity pet with a ferocity tree?
Would very much love a ferocity turtle with spirit mend! Oooh the possibilities.

So, the vast majority of my pets are male. I think it's interesting how I made Gondria (who appears is generally seen as female) a dude, and Skoll (generally seen as male) a chick. This just seemed the most obvious choice to me; but then again, I had their names and personalities planned out beforehand.
As for families, I see most birds and sporebats as female, and most wind serpents, chimeras and boars as male

I always see spiders and shale spiders as female, and I have no idea why, but it feels right to me. Most core hounds I see as male, except for The Kurken, who I see as female despite what the game says and the red core hounds go either way for me. I also see Gondria and Karoma as male though most people refer to them as female, and Arcturis as female even though most people refer to her as male. Also, despite the mob name, it's very hard for me to see Gezzarak as female. I'm weird like that, I guess.

Well, ever since Fonlithien (the turtle in the bucket; a tamed version of Ghamoo-ra that naturally transformed in 4.0.1) was recognized by the Valahar announcer with female pronouns, my tanking turtle's gender has been pretty much decided for me.
I also remember the cursed shipwreck quest in Wetlands from back when I was leveling Cialbi, where the undead in the area would constantly be transforming you and your pet into undead. My pets were always transformed into female undead, so I just assumed that to be the norm. Later, I found out that pets can be males, and turned into male undead by these cursed marines and sailors (there's even male succubi, apparently ). So, I decided to do some testing. Every time, my pet was turned into a female undead. At some point, I grew tired of flying to and from the stables, and left.

So, I now assume that my pets are female by default. Even my gorilla.

I usually take the genders from the names that I give them, or pick the name because they look like that gender.

For example:

My Skoll (Fenrir), Articus (Heimdall), Karoma (Marrok) and Siam (Tybalt) are all male.

Menwhile, my Gondria (Tyr), giant red boss wasp (Tiamat), hunched orange tiger (Bast), and color-changer fox (Gemini) are all female.

I use this macro (it looks really awkward but it does work!) and it says if the target is male, female, or "unknown", which I assume means you get to choose. I disagree with it once or twice (my Chowder is NOT a girl!!!), but I am generally happy with it (Loque is an unknown, which is great, because he's supposed to be male, but seems so very fem to me).

I tend to see my tanking pets as male. The dps pets are kind of a mix. I have noticed that certain pets are always male or female though, i.e. Devilsaurs are male and owls are female.

Almost all of mine are male except Araga and Snarler. And of course TypeTwo the sporebat, who I have always referred to as thing, or it. I have a feeling Squishi my moth is female too, but we haven't spent much time together as yet.
