If they called it a "deepwoods spirit bear" instead of just a spirit maybe it'd be more likely as a beast. There are RL bears called Spirit Bears, after all (though they look nothing like these of course! )

Here, here to discussion only and having rage fits IN the RANT thread! Heeeee (^-^) Ive always known about what 'spirit bears' are but i never knew the background as to why they have managed to thrive through the fur trade and that they can catch fish more often then their dark counterparts :0 if i was to ever be reborn as a bear... id totally choose a spirit bear. Yep, yep.

I wonder if theres lore behind these bears, like, why are they dead. Why are they haunting the woods. Did something happen in ancient times or perhaps more recently that resulted in their spirits being forced to wander around aimlessly? Were the mogu behind it? Maybe the sha? I havent been on beta for months so i have no idea where these bears are or any lore behind any of the races and creatures in Pandaria 'cept that Sha are bad, mogu are ancient tyrants that ruled pandaria long ago, and either the mantid's were good guys turned bad, or they are a bad race and one faction branched off and became good guys. XD

Im so intrigued by undead being in Pandaria, the concept is so alien to me from what i currently know about the place so i can only imagine it would be the sha who is creating an unrest amongst the spirits to cause them to show up in the mortal world.

No rage here if it's a common spirit beast! That was my only issue with the others. I hope that these become beasts, become tamable, and are spirit beasts!

Don't keep your hopes up for the 'baby' models remaining tamable for the exact same reason the Polar Bear Cubs didn't. Enjoy them in the beta, but try not to get attached?

They were a surprise to me, and I don't know anything about them, but it *does* seem weird that they're undead but their cubs are living. Of course there could be a whole story concocted to explain this, but to me the simpler explanation might be that one or other is wrongly classed. It's not impossible that the id of a spirit NPC in the area was recycled for these bears and the class wasn't changed. Much like many of the other wrongly classed things we've seen that are later fixed. I guess we'll see soon

Out of interest, what skins from new tameable families/models are still missing from the game? I can think of the frost white tiger and the dark-wine caterpillar. Are the yellow and blue (not jade) "mount" model water striders missing? And the non-mount water striders, are they all missing? Any goats or porcupines? And I'm sure some quilen would have to be.

I dont expec thtis turtle to make it in the game at all just because of how buggy it is, but the smoother shelled version is good:

These aren't missing, but they're bosses and... I'm guessing not tameable.

(All of the non-mount critter-like waster striders are "missing" in that none of them are beasts, but I think they were intended to just be critters? Which kind of sucks, they're so pretty, but eh what can ya do about it, hehe)

Wow thanks I know you had the blue goat and red water strider (but not blue water strider) on the list, but they must be old occurrences. I guess that weird green turtle skin that didn't match the rest was for something else and not used. And it doesn't surprise me that a lot of the epic model turtles are still missing. I guess we'll see most of them make their way back slowly here and there. Maybe more of the "ancient" turtles around the place.

It's a shame about those ornate water striders though. Maybe they look weird at large size but I didn't think so!

Well, the blue goat WAS in, but when everything was made tameable some colors were changed as well, so blue goats are out now.

I... don't think the red water strider was ever in. O.o The orange one is though. And the blue has always been I'm pretty sure.

There are some more "ancient" turtles, there are rankbite ancients, and... whatever the turtles are in the troll area, they have an ancient too, but they're not spiked.

The red one is listed for the Wandering Isle. I didn't notice that part. So it'll never be tameable unless they let other players get there

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but the stags in Valley of the Four Winds now use the new updated stag model. Still untameable though.

EDIT: It's the Tawnyhide Stags.

I can't look at the missing red water strider without thinking "Why? Because it's red!"

Those bears got me thinking, there are those other wolves with skolls other color who are just regular wolves which makes me think maybe they are wanting to less emphasize spirit beasts as the only really awesome effect looking beast and add it to other nonbm needed pets. I know there has been an outcry from those who dont like to play BM but want a cool looking pet beside them. I am kinda thinking the colors we havent seen (like the quilen blue, red water strider, etc) may very well be the rare beasts we are waiting for.

I'm kind of 'ehhhhh' about that since it's hard enough to tell when it's a spirit beast already, what with flaming turtles and lava spiders and gem kitties. But Blizz will do as they do.
