That evolution would probably be among the only forms that would have me love that awkward looking thing  I would so get a female of em, if they can breed with Haxorus, and make a whole box of babies and evolve them so I can has a killer thunder dragon army

I used to have a legion of growlithes taking up two box slots, and one of eevee's, and one of croagunk's from trying to hatch the perfect natured and gendered baby

It's a pity they don't pay more attention to the fan-made stuff to get a closer understanding of what the majority of the fan population enjoy more.

I'm sorry but I can't agree that that's the majority of the fan base. I really don't think it is.

I've just seen far more comments like "I wish this were a real pokemon instead of ___" type comments. or "To bad this wasn't the final form of ____, instead of the official one" I see things like that a lot more then I see comments like "I prefer the official version better"

But its not even just that...Seeing what fans create as "fakemon" can give a good insight into the types of things that players enjoy. As well as reading how fans address these "fakemon" designs.

Not really. I mean the fandom is way bigger then that. You are talking about not even like half or so of the fandom tho. I've seen way more badly designed "fakemon" then I have good designed ones. I mean I've seen a lot of comments saying they like the official ones more.......

Also I don't think it does give a good insight into what people like. Yeah what some people like maybe but the majority of the fanbase? no. There are so many people in this fandom that lots of people like lots of things!

I'd rather them come up with their own ideas then useing fan based things as ideas.
To be honest I'm gunna agree with Makoes. If someone makes a Fakemon that a good number of people like.. Well that's.. kind of a step in the right direction. Pokémon does make good designs BUT they also have(at least in my opinion)some that are failures. I'm still blown away by the ice cream cone. That just makes me shake my head.

I'd really hate it if they started using peoples "fakemon" as a base for ideas on new Pokemon. Most I see are utter crap.

Just because a lot of people like something does not mean it's good.

That's your opinion and we can differ. I would like to point out that just because you think its crap doesn't mean its "bad" just as you point out that just because people like It doesn't mean it's "good". It's a two way street.

But.... if a lot of people like something, then its what that group of people like though o.O And if developers had enough scouts going around collecting data off sites where fakemon have been posted and design a base that's reminiscent but not too closely alike so as to avoid complications with the fakemon's concept artist, then theres going to be people that will consider it good, just as they considered the original fakemon design good

But just like everything else, theres going to be people who don't like the design, and some people who liked the concept might not like the Nintendo version of it, while people who didn't like it before will love it. So really there is no good or bad, just what the preference of the majority. Theres always going to be a minority, no matter what, who won't like a concept, but that can't be helped :3

*blinks* Wait...so if a lot of people like something, its not good? That doesn't make ANY sense to me...

Also, Glad Dirty and Shal saw where I was coming from on "fakemon" design idea's.

For petes sake I did not say that. I said just because a lot of people like something does not mean that thing is good. Yes it could be but it does not necessarily mean it is. Is that clear? sheesh

Eh not really. Maybe the group who like Fakemon yes but the majority of Pokemon fans? I don't think so.

I know that, in some contexts, like controversial ones that I won't bring up, are in favor by an overall world mass which is not necessarily a good thing and for some of these things its actually really bad what with human rights and such, but this is a very, very different kinda topic that isn't problematic in anyway, its just character designs for a game of all ages. Nintendo doesn't share with us any of their designs they come up with till they're official so I can't really see the harm in scouting out ideas from fakemon and changing them up to make it their own design to avoid issues with the fakemon's concept artist

It won't be a fakemon anyone had invented anymore once Nintendo was done with it since they'd have to give the artist credit indefinitely which companies don't like to do. They'd rather take different aspects of several characters and throw a bit of their own imagination in to create the final result. It won't be someone elses design anymore, it will be the company's design

Taking ideas off fakemon would help generate interest in both communities since the people who don't have any interest in fakemon won't really care anyways since they're not even part of the fakemon following, so it makes no sense why they'd be up in a flurry if they don't give a cent of their mind to fakemon concepts. They take things in stride, since as I mentioned in the first paragraph in this post, Nintendo doesn't share their designs before they become official

Some of the pokemon will be well received, others not so well, by both fakemon followers and pokemon community equally, that's just how human nature is, but at least looking at the fakemon fanbase, as those are the people who have interest in the direction Nintendo is going with pokemon, will help them create pokemon that will be well received and reduce the amount of recycled and potentially unimaginative pokemon get released
