My guess is that somehow their Arcturis lost it's ID and had taken the form of Zombie Bear.

Mmmmm, ima have to take the side everyone else is on in that it was probably one of the bears that was in the forest before it was shut down for an overhaul. The idea (and the name of the bear in the screenie) that it was actually arcturis that got bugged is just too far fetched with everything that went on over the forest and its inhabitants.

The bear in WMV is not transparent.

I may need a fainting couch if the zombie bear does appear as a tamable beast.

The thing is though, Blizzard can control the transparency of certain models.
At least, I'm pretty sure that's the case. I of course can't confirm that. XD

Yeah, I think transparency is an easy thing to do to any model. At least I get that impression.

The other little thing that I noticed was that Arcturis may actually have another effect added to him, not just a transparency added, not dissimilar to the crabs discovered here

OK, news on the appearance on the King Spineclaw crabs.

Apparently spiked crabs take two skins. One for the base colour and one for the markings. So what Noah can do is make new mixes where, say, the ghost skin is the base and the orange skin is used for the markings (or vice versa) and that's what was done here. This opens the floodgates for a huge number of other potential colours, many probably very awesome like this one

If you take a closer look at the Zombear,



and then Arcturis



You will see Arcturis actually has soft white swirls coming down it's back and legs. This makes these new Zombears are not just a "transparent" Arcturis, so including it's groovy mane, Arcturis is quite different again

Ahh I love those swirls Arcturis has <3 Didn't really pay attention that zombie bear didn't have them, hee.

It's definitely clear that when they put the skin ont he spirit beast, they tweaked it a bit to make it beautiful.

I still can't get over how they're just taking the non-spectral version and shoving it in the game. :/ Especially since, compared to all the new models, it looks pretty bad...

I think if they're going to add unique spirit beasts into the game they should keep them looking unique, and by 'looking unique' I mean don't give the same/similar model/skin to another creature. I'm reminded of the Skoll re-colours, because all they are is a dull-grey version of Skoll. When I play a game with unique and 'special' pets for hunters to collect in it, I want them to stay that way.

I've kept quiet about it thus far but I don't understand why everyone likes this model. The spectral look that Arcturis has at least makes the model look pretty but without it, the model is a pre-TBC model with an ugly blue-black skin pasted over it which, to me, completely looks like the base model for Arcturis they would have used before they could make him spectral.

Now to wait for the weird looking Loque re-colours.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, of course, but I get this vibe that a lot of people here just like whatever is thrown at them, to be honest.

Eh, it seems to me they're giving people what they want. Yeah, maybe we can't get yaks and mushan yet (I'm staying positive for the future!) but I just feel like after the whole disappointment of not getting to keep them we've been getting more and more of what I've seen people saying they want. So really, as long as it makes people happy, I don't see any harm in it. I know thing slike this can make people a little upset, and I can understand that... but I dunno, when I'm upset about something that makes others happy, I just try to think of their happiness and then I just don't feel as upset anymore? I'm sure that doesn't work for everyone though. ^^;
There are no Loque recolors! Though man... wouldn't a black one with like.. darker black spots and red glowies be absolutely badass? Not saying it should be done, just saying it'd be cool, hehe. XD

Yeah, I know there's no Loque re-colours, and for that I'm glad. He's the only spirit beast with a unique model as well, so I'd like to think they'd keep it that way.

I'm glad people are happy about it, I really am, but there's a difference between being glad people are happy and not understanding why people are happy. I'm sure some people like the skin but to me it just looks... wrong. Like it's out of place. Especially in Pandaria. I don't care enough to demand it gone or anything, no way, because when MoP comes out I'll probably forget it even exists.

Yes. Well. Not to derail this thread even further with a discussion on the philosophy of different tastes. But that's the thing about different tastes. They're all different. I'd never want to tame a bear with scars all over it, or a hawk that looks mummified, but I get that some people like them without feeling that way about them myself. If I'm not fond of a look I generally leave the thread to those who do want to gush over it, as expressing an opinion of not liking something is a bit different. Unless it's accompanied with some kind of constructive criticism it's not really interesting to anyone but yourself, while sharing an admiration of something tends to build bonds between the people who do.

I absolutely LOVE that skin. Vastly more than Arcturis, actually. If I had to pick between the two, I'd take the zombie bear, probably as it's darker and because I don't like see-through animals much as they don't feel like real creatures (although I own my share of them, don't get me wrong!). That's the beauty of the human race, we all have different tastes.

As for Wain's comment, I couldn't agree more.

So, people are allowed to give their positive opinions and share them, but people aren't allowed to share their negative ones, especially when a comment about why is accompanied with it? I didn't give constructive criticism, no, that would be pointless to do here anyway as I'm sure Blizzard employees who make up a vast majority of the design team don't read this forum. My point was stating that I'm not sure why people like these bears since they seem so very out of place and, sorry to say, lazy. As in, can someone explain it to me please. I've already said I am happy for those that like it since they are finally getting what they wanted, but I'm not sure *why* people wanted it in the first place. So really, I'm asking a bit of a question. Why do people want the non-spectral version of Arcturis and why do they like it? Surely I'm not the only person though that sees the bear as some kind of glitched-out Arcturis.

I'm not saying that I don't want it in the game, I'm just stating my disappointment and that I have a slightly different view from most other people here. Sorry for having a different opinion.

It's less a matter of what's 'allowed' than a matter of what's polite. Stating a dislike of something and then asking an explanation from people who do like it can come across as a demand for someone to defend their tastes and doesn't really add to the discussion.

We all have different opinions. I doubt most people here are interested in a zombie bear, but most people aren't interested in complaining about it. Regardless, if the topic is that important to you, I suggest making your own thread, as this one has a different purpose.
