Eeee! Hyena time! Couldn't resist writing a stupid/random/awful story about the pet.


After mailing letters of questionable and colourful content to several quillboar-obsessed orcs, Avanji accidentally stepped on a hyena. They're INVISIBLE. Honest. It took a full ten seconds of bartering with aged crocolisk meat to persuade the creature to join him on his not-so-merry adventure.



Mr. Avanji slid to Orgrimmar to scruitinize his new companion. He blended in too well inside the Barrens! He squinted at the skin, clearly enraptured by the sheer GOLDNESS. After all, he always presumed these guys were a sickly greenish colour! Then again, he's likely partially blind. And deluded. Even so, the hermit troll nodded in approval, not-so-lovingly accepting the deformed and terribly wonkey hyena as his new 'meatshield'.



But alas! Avanji didn't match the hyena at all! Avanji hastily plopped himself onto the barber's chair to rid himself of his current baldness, only to be sat on by the GOLD hyena. EY WOT WOT. Needles to say, the goblin didn't fufill his requests to endow his beloved pet with pig-tails and girly ribbons. Foiled!



Avanji removed himself from the store, sulking. He shot a fleeting glance towards the hyena, recently named Scoundrel, before recoiling in sheer horror. A STRANGE TRIANGLE WAS JUTTING OUT OF THE HYENA'S CHEST. The middle-aged troll stared at the mysterious shape in baffled silence.



Deciding to consult a healer about his companion's ailments, he strode back to the tauren gathered in the Valley of Spirits. Just as he turned his back to the disgruntled hyena, the estranged creature flung itself into a bonfire and FLOATED. EY WOT WOT. The tauren politely told him to gtfo.



Grumpy, grimacing 'n' groggy, Avanji returned to the Valley of Honor where he stared vacantly at the waterfall, mulling the day's events. THOSE PLAINSTRIDER BEAKS NEVER DROP. Even Scoundrel joined in, wondering why OH WHY he was paired together with a balding troll with a love for eating his own bellybutton lint.

Can't say an awful lot about the hyena's performance at this level since I one-shot all mobs! He certainly tried and flailed around the enemy in a desperate attempt to at least land one blow! He makes-silly-barky noises and, while his model's extremely old, the colouring's not as dull as I expected! Was pleasantly suprised by Scoundrel and will keep him around for now. May trade him off for a black/white hyena at a later date, but until then... WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Vasken, after having recently done some questing through N. Barrens on my Petopians hunter, I know exactly what you're talking about. The first two quest hubs are about nothing but quillboar. Granted, I did actually enjoy a lot of that; especially fun was being able to employ tickling as an interrogation technique

Sorry it took so long to get to my review, unexpected had to go outta town and had no time to get on the laptop. But here it is.

I was assigned the red nether ray.

Found one.




Here I am taming him.




And here were are just hanging.



Now I wasn't really sure if I would like a nether ray because I always thought the were kinda blah. But after taming this one I have a new appreciation for them. Their diet is actually odd to me consisting of meat and fungus. Their idle animation is just basically him hovering, and his swimming animation is just like his running animation. I did not notice an idle noise and I really didn't hear anything when he attacked(maybe I need my hearing checked, hehe). His special is a silence which like others have said, if on autocast he pretty much casts it when of CD and not always at the right time. While I think as a whole the nether rays are kinda cool, I did not care for the coloring on this one. Even though the coloring was well done and looked good, I just didn't care for it. Well since I really didn't click with this one, I did not name it although I do think it was a he. And here are to shots of us doing the fishing daily and some arch.





And would love to do another. Loving the randomness and trying to keep from taming because this is just to much fun.

My assigned pet was this..
Never been much a fan of the tallstriders, but it was assigned and I saw how other people very much enjoyed their pet adventures, so I was quite excited =)


So I immediately headed out to The Barrens, wasn't 100% sure where I would find a white tallstrider, but lo and behold! He was awaiting my arrival outside of the Crossroads


And so here we have my new friend, Petrie!


Our first stop was the Auction House! Figured I'd show him around Orgrimmar a bit before we head out to do whatever it is we were going to do! My friend, Mr. Solaarius wanted me to check the prices on some stuff (which I forgot to do before I went searched for Petrie.) Unfortunately, the recipe for Deviate Delight isn't as expensive as we thought it would be.


Yes! I found a Leaping Hatchling on my way out to Mr. Petrie's home. And since Solaarius was a fresh hunter alt, he had no minipets at all :O! So.. Petrie and I agreed the best way to bond was to go Raptor Hunting!


Our first stop was to be the Razormaw Cave in Wetlands, but first we had to board the boat from Theramore without being seen! I think I hid pretty well.. Petrie on the other hand.. Not so much.


I love finding rares, even if I am unable to tame / kill them. I just like to see them for myself and then find them homes
So while checking for the majestic Sambas, Petrie suggested we should try our hand at killing a level 84 worg. (I am only level 80! No leveling til Solaarius catches up ;D)


...Did not go as planned..


Our first find in our adventure! Razormaw Hatchling. Mama was present for the egg-napping. She wasn't very happy, but Petrie made quick work of her.

Anyhow, it's time for another episode of Daranara's Darlings Digest! (man I love alliteration)

Anyway! Our subject this time:



The brown bear.

What's not to like about bears? They tank like champs, they eat everything, and their special is pretty snazzy! As it happens, I feel that their low points lie pretty much in their looks, what with their split lip and posture problems. But let's give this bear a shake, shall we?

So when I meant to start my hunt, I hit what I thought was my hearth, then walked away to get a drink. To my surprise, I hadn't hit my hearth, but rather my Area 52 teleport-a-ma-jig. This explains my lack of nelfiness in some of these shots.

But since I'd hit that one, I went ahead and hit up my Winterspring one too, figuring I could just fly from there. As I flew, I remembered something about a bear in Felwood? A quick check revealed that hey what d'you know? Mongress lives in Felwood, and she's the color of bear I want!

...so of course she wasn't up. Going south, I flew into Ashenvale to find one. Right away, I had luck!



A quick trap and I had myself a bear!



A quick check assures me that pet bears are large enough to be gnome mounts. Good to know!

In thinking up a name, I remembered as part of my hunter's backstory, her very first "pet" was actually an Ashenvale bear cub one of her father's friends had brought her to help take care of after it's mother had died. Remembering that bear's name, I decided it was appropriate to give my new friend here the same one.



But taming is hard work, so Tanavar and I promptly took a quick nap.

So yeah, bears are pretty solid, if clunky things. They're a big sturdy looking pet, but they suffer from lip-splits, a perma-snarl, and a back like a slide, as seen here:



If they could fix those things, then they'd be pretty swell, looks-wise. At least they can close their mouths now, though!



We said goodbye to Tana's friend, then we were off for adventures!



...Okay, it was off to Dalaran to see about getting him fit for some riding gear. As luck would have it, though, Dara's IC husband caught up with her about then to remind her that (hopefully) the gnome-shape wasn't permanent. Also to let her know he didn't really want any part of whatever it was she was up to, since he was pretty sure his associates back in Stormwind would have some choice comments about a human and a gnome together, so Dara decided to just stay in Dalaran for the night.

Overnight the gnomeshape wore off, so when she woke up she was back to normal. Since we were in Dalaran, Tana and I decided to have a look to see if there was anything to read.



There was a fascinating children's story about mages that Dara wanted to take home for her daughter, but Tana ate it. Oops.

So then we were off to Tol Barad! Because what's better than more dailies? (don't answer that I'm five mounts away from a hundred).



As expected, Tanavar was a champ at dailies. He held aggro and took adds and we got them down easy. Life is good there.

I wanted to do more with him, but I don't have to run Magister's Terrace anymore, so what to do...



Oh yeah, blue protodrake! Let's see if we can solo this!

I'd never actually tried before, so this was an adventure for both of us. I managed to sneak my way to Skadi without having to kill a single other thing, thanks to camouflage. But getting there's always the easy part! Could we down him?



Turns out, yeah, we can. It was a little bit messy, and took a bit of time, and there were a few close calls, but we managed it! No mount today, but hey! Now that I know it's doable, I can farm it until I can has it.



A quick return to Stormwind and an accidental discovery of my warrior twin! Oh Tana, you're so photogenic sometimes.



And there you have it! A girl and her bear, ready to take on the world!

I've had a bear before, but it was the dark brown skin, and I couldn't imagine myself with any other one. However, I was surprised at how natural this lighter brown felt. I ended up liking him better than I expected.

The down side, of course, is stable space. I have four other tenacity pets to spend time with, and so my bear wasn't getting any love. I'm afraid this will be the same story here, too. He's nice, and I'm going to be sending Tanavar over to Daranara the Younger for a happy and hopefully permanent home.

Second find!! Dart was no where to be seen, thankfully. Though, I'm quite sure Petrie would have gladly but the beat down on Mr. Dart if he had to!

Three raptor babies down, one to go!


And here we are!! Ravasaur Hatchling successfully egg-napped!


At the beginning of this Adventure with Petrie, I had no interest in keeping him. But after napping the first raptor baby, I knew Petrie would be my best friend
So I decided to pay more attention to Petrie's model.


His model is actually quite cute after examining it closely. I found I quite liked it, and the white color made it even better! I especially liked the way he ran =)


And his swimming animation was absolutely hilarious xD I laughed when I actually paid attention to the animation =P


Our adventure was coming to a close and it was here I gave Petrie the option of freedom, or become a permanent addition to my stables. All he did was caw and preen his feathers. I think that meant yes >_>


And so we delivered the Raptor Babies to Solaarius and his lovely white lion, Snow (who is not to be messed with!). ...Don't ask about the dress..

All in all, I really enjoyed the little Raptor Hunting Adventure with Petrie and was very happy his skin was assigned to me!! Now, when I'm able to quest and actually kill stuff my level (not level 84 worgs, Petrie..), we'll see how Petrie fairs in battle! >:-)

Not exactly a set-in-stone rule, but Kormai wasn't happy when I spread a pet report over two posts a few pages ago. So, can't really blame you for not knowing.
She will probably make a decision one way or another as to what the guideline should be, and update the OP. Well, I'll at least ask her to do so!

All righty, Yzma reporting in on .

Not sure why this took me longer than usual to get done. Anywho, a pic of Marie and I together.


And here's Marie prowling just to get an idea of how cool these guys are.


Now, I'm not usually a fan of the old world cat models, but I'm finding Marie to be kind of charming. Her ghostliness works well for Yzma's theme as well. From the front she has a little bit of a boxy muzzle and gorgeous green eyes. Shame their faces almost seem as if they're squished in or something.


One of my biggest complaints of the model, other than the squished in looking face, is the way the back leg is messed up.
They have a similar problem with their front left elbows. Blizzard just seemed as if they weren't very good with joints or something as cats aren't the only beasts with odd looking back legs.

One thing I really love about cats is how smooth their run animation looks.

By your side these guys will stretch and yawn, accompanied with noise, and they'll look from side to side. The yawn noise is silenceable if you decide you hate it.

In combat, Marie put out good damage, but she had a hell of a time holding aggro off me which is to be expected. I'm growing myself into the habit of kiting mobs around since I haven't gotten a pet to hold aggro off Yzma yet.

The cat buff, Roar of Courage, is arguably one of the best buffs for all specs of hunters because of the large amount of agility it gives. However, this buff can also be covered by DKs, warriors, and enhancement shamans.

Overall, I plan to keep Marie for Yzma even though Yzma also has Humar. Scar, her Humar, will probably be her go-to cat as I feel a stronger bond with him, but Marie is suiting of the theme and Yzma doesn't loathe her so she'll stick around.

I'm glad you're happy about it...I'm gonna go hop in the shower but after I get out I have a really long challenge to post, I did the run to Eversong Woods on my Draenei Nesingwary hunter instead of my Worgen...so Anathei will be getting the wasp instead of the lynx. But more about that soon!
