So I just went and tamed a new friend on a whim Taigi started with a raptor a long time ago and it just didn't feel like her. But recently I decided I wanted one of those outland raptors, so I went and got one.
Originally I was going to get the red, but I saw these black ones and just fell in love
I don't know if he's a perfect fit yet, but he'll probably stick around for a little while at least

Aw, grats on your new friend! ^^ I had one of those Black Raptors myself through Outland. I quite liked him, he was only released to make room for Skorn, hehe.
Congrats!!! My Rafa is the same model. I let him go to tame some rares (*sigh* 5-slot stables, why must you torment me so!!!) but he's the first retame when we get the bigger stables!! /antsy & impatient.

Yeaaah can't wait for those new stables X_X Velocity hear fills up my fifth slot (which I can finally afford) and that means when I go after Arcturis in 3 more levels, somebody's gonna have to go...../sad

It's definitely a tough decision and it worries me that I might not feel the same connection when I retame him (he was my go-to pet for most of Wrath)... but I read Rhyela's story about her agreement with her lion, and the idea of not abandoning but more, sorta... giving him a well deserved vacation, I guess? It appeals to me. So hopefully I'll be able to keep that frame of mind until I retame him. I do miss the bugger.
Coincidentally I abandoned Rafa to tame Arcturis. My big ball of spectral fur was definitely worth it, I just hope Rafa forgives me.

I've been using the mentality of 'I'm not abandoning them, they're just going on vacation.' for quite a while and I definitely thinks it helps. It can be hard to sever a bond with a pet you've had for so long, and just preparing a backstory of sorts (even if only in your head) for their temporary leave of absence really aids with re-establishing that bond at a later time.
Definitely! I also find that a case of actual abandonment, with no intention of retaming, can turn around on you. I've been eyeing my Gemini (Trachela) for a bit over a month now and biding my time... Ah well, no better way to find out than to retame. Once I won't have to abandon my current lovelies, that is.

Hrm, I'll have to use that little strategy when I get there.
Still three levels away anyway, I've got plenty of time to think about it...
And I've found that I LOVE Velocity! Training him up to my level is a bit of a pain, but he's already got so much personality! Plus he tries to be helpful and isn't very good at it (several times he killed quest item-objectives before I could get to them, so they didn't count towards the quest itself...but he just wanted to heeeelp!)

He must be related to Rafa! He can be a real bugger, but he's totally momma's boy, always looking to help and protect Sara. <3

Maybe Velos is Rafa's lil' brother And yeah, Velocity certainly means well, he's just...not very good at acting on it.

Aaah, good to hear you got Aotona back! Did the GM's end up restoring him for you, or did you find that pretty bird again in the wild?

I dare you to eat Ryno's hand made cookies. Dare you.
Ryno's cookies != everyone else's homemade cookies. I dare you to eat a single store bought cookie after having my husband's double chocolate peanut butter and butterscotch chip cookies. Dare you. ;P
