4.3: Worgen Racial Mounts Preview [Combined Thread]

I dunno... I feel like this is really pretty halfassed. No, they didn't HAVE to do it. (although they've been pretty focused on equalizing 'horde' and 'alliance' this expac, since all the land lost by the Alliance was to 'equalize' the number of zones held predominately by each faction.)

Unfortunately, I've felt that the worgen have been halfassed since the beginning. Male worgen get exactly five skins and five faces. Compare that to pretty much any other race. (Hell, even female worgen get twice as many options). Half the hairstyles have broken, unblended hairlines.

Female worgen have that obnoxious perma-snarl and their eyes don't glow. (They aren't even DIFFERENT COLORS based on face, like EVERY OTHER RACE.)

The Running Wild anims are fine at low level but then at epic speed... instead of just speeding up the ground covered, they sped up the run cycle to match, resulting in the 'spastic frog' motion that everyone complains about. I feel pretty stupid using RW at epic speed, and the fact you CAN'T force yourself to use the slow version, even, makes it even worse.

I don't know if someone at Blizzard was all 'man, we have to dumb down the worgen so they aren't five hundred times more cool than goblins' or what, but pretty much... everything but the storyline comes off as hacked together with half the effort put into the goblins. This includes the lolhorses.

I wouldn't mind if they were...oh. Skins that weren't already mounts, like the white or palomino. Or if they had claw marks, or a My Little Pony Butt-stamp or... just SOMETHING. ANYTHING.

I think they should make them different, atleast in looks if anything.. if its to somewhat even the mounts well goblins got a interesting trike and worgens either get wierd running on all fours or copy and paste ponies! yay

On a happier note it would be cool to have them look like mustangs.. mustangs... not clysdales, Clysdales you dont think of when you think born free running free you think of mustangs. A smaller sleeker frame, alot of pintos to. Like the epic mounts, those are kinda what I think of.

Clydesdales would hold a worgens hulking frame a lot more than mustangs would.

As the Worgen racial mount is Running Wild, I assume Worgen will also have to be exalted with Gilneas to buy the horses...

I really hope you're wrong... I mean if they want running wild to remain the default I have no problem with that, but I think it's a little silly that Gilneas stablers would break tradition with all other stablers and require the same rep from their own race...

I don't know which way it will go. You're probably right, and Worgen will be able to buy the horses by default. It was really just idle speculation on my part, as my Worgen *loves* Running Wild and has no interest in horses. Looking forward to these on my main, though!

I'm sure they'll be like other races' mounts - you can buy them normally if you're of that race, with price discounts as you gain rep, but need exalted to buy them as other races.

i understand that it makes sence for worgen to use horses cause they are originaly humans and that the mount balance needs to be fixed...but...we have enough horses already!! cmon. we have human, undead, event, sparkly, unicorn, pvp and reward horses!
Most of us DO NOT want more of em.
Give us a boar mount, a spider! a new dragonhawk, a regular wolf model mount! Eagle mounts! we can already use those in a daily! now go make them a reward!
The list is almost endless for what blizz could have been creative with and they give us extra horses...

why? it makes no sense sins there are no baors there? and cause it looks so different?
Well they all could simply have evolved diffrently by beeing locked up into a smal area. They could have been different from the very beggining and the worgen keept breeding out the strongest of em to get these brutes. Thus there are no wild ones roaming around anymore.
Its a simple and smal story they could just toss in there.

Even if it makes sense sins they are humans it still feel like a slap in the face.

I have to agree that these were likely put in for people going for the 100 mounts. And.. while yes, another pony is a little bland, I'd rather that, than having to grind 2 more rare drops/epic acheivement mounts so I can get my dragonhawk <.<

The grey skin is kind of nice. The other is just a little too close to the brown horse. What I'D like to have seen is the mule skin as a mount... It's the best of both worlds.. Blizzard doesn't have to do all new art... AND we get something that doesn't feel like a straight up "here, fine, stop complaining". I did, admittedly, have a similar idea for them though, to just release more horse colours to balance the mount imbalance. No, it's not perfect.. but as I said.. I want mah dragonhawk! heh.

They could have also balanced the mount imbalance by giving us 2 wildhammer gryphon recolour mounts.. I was kind of disappointed when they didn't do that.. I mean, these are clans who seem to PRIDE themselves on their flying/gryphon training abilities.. you'd think they'd have some cool new colour morphs for people to play with <.< What about a jet black gryphon... Maybe the armored model, with some kind of neat contrasting armor.. Or something...

Id take it unarmored glady, but they could toss dark phoenix armor on it too like i did.

As-is, it's a pretty pathetic offering. I'm happy about the prospect of new mounts, but the least they could do is palette swap them to a new color.\

My hope is that they'll give new, nicer textures to existing horse models, since they've obviously shown that they don't want to make new models. One for regular, one for epic.

Actually I like the mule idea too, since there's already pack mules in EPL and they're just horse models with grey skins and long ears.

... Or Alliance colored trikes. I really want a trike. :p

It's just to bad they didn't use some of the unused mount skins in the game. Someone on the general forums posted picks of mule skins on horse body and they looked amazing.'

I'm mad at Blizz for this. I LOVE LOVE LOVE worgen. Running Wild looks okay at 60%, but at 100% it gets spazzy and weird. And these horses, oh the horses, for God's sake at least give us new colors! Or something! I have to say, for once I'm dissapointed in Blizz.
