Nice to have my question ignored. I'll just post it again.

Will ALL dragons lose immortality, or just the Aspects?

Don't worry, though, I'll try hard to not make it a rude rant. ^^ The cinematic itself was good, but what happened in it? Not so great. I am utterly fascinated / obsessed with WoW's dragons, and I love the lore on them. Though before I go on, are all of the dragons going to lose their immortality? If not, my not-so-rude complaint will become much shorter.

Why wait on having your question answered, when you can just give us the full rant instead?

My guess is that all have lost their immortality and some of their powers, but we can't tell for sure unless the story confirms.

Edit: And Jessi, am I not supposed to be critical of a fictional character I see flaws in just because others may like her? But I'm not going to continue this derail.

That's ... stupid.
Wow, short rant. Anyhow, I just don't like the video and what happened in it is ticking me off. I like my dragons how they are. >.> Especially since I roleplay one. >.> It's just ANNOYING!
Short rant is short.

The question can't really be answered, Feralclaw. No one really knows. The video doesn't exactly give a lot of explanation and Blizzard hasn't really offered any details either.

Well, more speculation from me, but ordinary dragons probably won't feel this pinch much. They're still enormous, flying, intelligent, shapeshifting reptiles with (reduced?) magical powers, which shouldn't affect your roleplay much. Unless you're roleplaying one just to be especially powerful, but that is a problem in itself.

Thats my guess too. But considering we killed Malygos while he was an aspect....I don't even think they were immortal to begin with. Immortal means they can never die...but Malygos is very much dead. Now Deathwing is too.

As for your other statement, thats not what I meant. You're free to be so but this isn't really the thread to do it in. Was about the cinematic, not the "Bash Aggra" thread. :)

"Immortal" is a kinda weird word in Warcraft. Since "immortals" like Malygos can clearly be killed, my guess is that it means that immortals are free to age and have a usable body infinitely unless something explicitly kills them, like disease, wounds, whatever. Instead of their body and mind inevitably withering away in old age like ordinary creatures, they retain full function right up until they're beheaded or something.

Once immortality is taken away, their potential lifespan becomes finite. They can become old and feeble and eventually die of old age.

"Yes, they're real. No, they're not mine, but they're real!" Of course, people wouldn't like Sylvanas as much if she actually showed signs of decay.

Anyways, back to the dragony stuff. The dragons seem to age so slowly that we probably won't notice any visible aging during the whole of World of Warcraft's run. It's kinda maddening how many questions they left hanging with that cinematic, though; I can only speculate and attempt to make reasonable estimates about what it means for the lore. With Pandaria being all-new and with the dragons having pledged to step back, will we find any answers in the next expansion? I'm doubting it.

As far as WoW and the term 'immortal' go, I believe it was said some where a good number of years back that immortal meant one could not die of natural causes, but could be killed otherwise. eg, will never grow old, but shouldn't get stabbed by swords if they can help it

I always figured most "immortals" are actually "ageless". Just that immortal sounds cooler. ;) It's kind of like races versus species. Technically speaking, trolls are a different species than a human, elf, etc. but 'race' is the standard because most people understand it better.

Any who, in my head....

Ageless = does not age, but can still get sick, hurt, or be killed. Things like Dragons, the Night Elves before the World Tree exploded, etc.

Immortal = cannot die ever. Can be injured, but not fatally. The Ancients (they die, but come back with a little effort), the Old Gods, etc.

'Immortal' in WoW typically means ageless. People can interpret it in different ways, but the way WoW has clearly intended their term of 'immortal' is just immune to aging in almost all cases, such as Night Elves. We could clearly kill them while they were immortal, they just did not age.

Then they really should be called "ageless" than "immortal" cos 99% of people when they ehre that word think of unkillable people.

Agreed. Immortal means "Cannot die" while Ageless means they can die just they look young forever. Vampires, for example, are typically just ageless.

I think my gripe is that people are like "WTF WAS DAT THEY LOST THEIR POWERS U SUK BLIZZ" when they're forgetting one important fragment of the lore:

The encounter with Algalon the Observer.

They've hinted at this "Age of Mortals" thing before. Because the mortals of Azeroth are flawed deviations from the Titans' perfect creations (i.e. the Dragonflights,) the Titans realized when Algalon was defeated that the mortals could be their key to dealing with the Old Gods. Maybe their destiny had changed after Algalon was defeated by mortals. Besides, who's to say that the Titans haven't tried creating Dragonflights in the other worlds that fell to the Old Gods?

As for Aggra... I don't really have an opinion of her. All I know is that Blizz said that Thrall could end up cheating on her or something.

Ah. I never fought Algalon so thats an interesting perspective.

Eh? Where did Blizz say that?
