Unique/rare skins you want common in MoP

I'd be upset for Deth for the same reason I'm upset by blue Madexx becoming common...both are very special tames to me, and the effort required to obtain them is part of that. Not to mention Asura's my only server first (that I kept...couldn't click with Solix) that I know of for a fact, and that a Joe Shmoe hunter like me could accomplish that? *clings to Asura* I'd still keep her, like I'm keeping Samira, but I'd be upset if her skin was suddenly distributed everywhere instead of being one of the highest tests of skill in Molten Front (yes, I know Kirix is tough too...but at least his common isn't always there!).

Admittedly, Deth'tilac does look very pretty in that zone, and I'm not trying to get snarly over all rares. But the ones closest to me, handing those out everywhere would make me uncomfortable.

I approached the concept of making rares/uniques more common for the sake of those are are unlucky.

However seeing Deth'tilac in that screenshot, wow. That would be very nice. I always thought Ankha was made for a snow zone, not that ugly place it spawns now

*nodnod* I can't say I mind either way if rares stay unique or have common counterparts. Deth'tilac is one of my favourite tames, but I wouldn't have any problem with his model being available on other mobs. I just think he would look fantastic in that zone.

Every rare is close to someone out there, no matter how obscure.

It's rough to say "these rares are okay to share and these aren't" with that in mind.

It's basically something that can really only be applied across the board.

I still think it would be worth while to have semi rares like the little babie Kirixs. Have and odd color out in a group of normal colors ... and have it be say every one in 15 or 20 be a uncommon color, or only show up two or three days a week, and those are random days. They would be more available but not supper available.

Haha, 4 years eventually, but eventually non-the-less. Idk, I was on WoWhead, reading comments about Loque, and everyone kept talking about whimsical visits that lead to tames, so I said "what the hell, one or 2 circles won't hurt". 2 cache clears later (forgot to clear AFTER leaving SW), I flew there, and checked the spawn directly south of the camp. I froze for a second, saw the beauty, and fumbled while getting my tame started, went of no prob after.

I quite appropriately named mine: Patience. Fitting name if you ask me.

On the topic of discussion...honestly, I think even if some rares were given common counterparts...that wouldn't mean they'd be seen more often. Let's take black Madexx for example. Once the common black scorpids were added, did we suddenly see them tamed everywhere? If anything he became less popular because people only wanted to stay with the truly unique and rare colours. I'd almost say that by adding common mobs a skin would become less commonly seen.

To be honest, I couldn't care less how often it's seen. But the effort required to tame it, that thrill of the hunt, helps spark the bond and drive it home for me. It's bloody difficult to bond with a creature when I can just walk out and pick it up, and drop it whenever with no repercussons! That's the way it's always been for me, to my dismay on occasion (and no small amount of half-guilty wondering if there's something wrong with me when people start talking about 'special snowflakes' when it comes to unique rares).

I just think that unique rares and commons both have their place, and neither should eclipse the other.

At the risk of sounding superficial, I care.

I find it more difficult to bond with a pet that has no individuality, due to it being A Shiny Pet Of The Current Expansion. How can I get to know my pet if s/he looks exactly the same as everyone else's pet of choice? What makes mine different? The illusion of challenge and accomplishment disappears if there's an army of identical pets out there. What makes my efforts any different than anyone else's, other than that they happened to me? No, there has to be more to it for me. There has to be identification, a show of personality - a special vibe, a je ne sais quoi.

But the effort required to tame it, that thrill of the hunt, helps spark the bond and drive it home for me. It's bloody difficult to bond with a creature when I can just walk out and pick it up, and drop it whenever with no repercussons! That's the way it's always been for me, to my dismay on occasion (and no small amount of half-guilty wondering if there's something wrong with me when people start talking about 'special snowflakes' when it comes to unique rares).

It doesn't work that way for everyone. I spent so many hours camping certain pets only to discover that I couldn't bond with them for one reason or another. I can't bond with Loque as a pet because I will always see him as Loque rather than my pet. I spent a great deal of time learning that lesson. And there have been others. Many hours have been lost figuring these things out.

I just don't see anything wrong with having the rares from the older expansions/vanilla becoming more common. It's no different than raid/pvp gear becoming more widely available. If you got your pet "legit," you know it.

How in any way does having a common counterpart take away from the people that enjoyed the thrill of the hunt for the actual rare? Just because there is a common skin, doesn't mean you HAVE to go get the easy one. If you like the thrill of the hunt so much, good for you! Keep going after that rare. I don't see why your preference to enjoy a rare mob for the "thrill of the hunt" means that other people with less time/shitty luck can't simply get a skin that they want for the sake of enjoyment. (as they aren't interested in the hunt like you are, more for you!)

For some people, it simply does. I'm...not sure how to explain it for those with which it is otherwise...I've never been good at explanations. *throws hands up helplessly* I could say that a unique rare gives me the biggest rush when NPC_Scan goes off, but I'm not sure that's the whole of it...I'm not entirely sure what is the whole of it. I understand the wanting shiny and pretty things, but I feel that at least a few of those things should still require that work (and for me, sitting in one spot is work...I like to be active and have a short attention span).

I know...it is, in the end, why I am merely upset when it happens, once the initial shock wears off. In the end I am but one person, and my personal preferences cannot stem that tide should it so choose to turn in such a direction.
