Again though, not complaining because we get a cool new model. :D
If it's a ravager, maybe it's the pre-Draenor-Fel-Shattered Ravager? A lot of Draenor denizens were corrupted because of the shattering; Arrakoa become flightless, Some Draenei lost connection to the light and broken, felboar etc.
Yeah, I definitely get that there's "prehistoric" sort of versions of Draenor beasts. It's neat that they changed form and you can see what they evolved from, but I still feel kinda meh on the ravager just getting a silithid appearance. I'm a big fan of the BC ravager models and skeleton. Like I said though, I'm not complaining. :) It's a cool looking new model and that's good enough for me.

I think the hardest part for me to get past in the argument of it being the "pre-outland" version is that it's such a large jump! It's not like the other Draenor denizens in that sence, mainly because those are really all the same model with some few changes, ya know? The models shape wise look hardly alike, and so that is why I think it's more closer to the models being related and not one being the "pre-outland" model of the other.

Of course this is only my opinion.

I dunno we wont know untill WoD, to see if the OL model is used!

The models are both neat tho.

Yeah it struck me also, that certain things are easily imagined as uncorrupted versions of Outland beasts, while others really aren't. At least for me, things like the clefthooves and elekks look simply like different species to the Outland ones. I can't imagine that the sole effects of fel energy on a clefthoof were to shrink its tusks and make it grow a luxurious fur coat. While the hydras and chimaeras are also a bit of a stretch for me, the Outland ones were both kind of alien and lower quality, so they could be imagined as severely corrupted. Especially if the Outland chimaeras were based on that reptilian model we've seen rather than the shaggy Azeroth style one.

To be fair, Hellfire Peninsular is probably the zone that the most effected by the shattering, hence why the ravagers, just like the zone they live in, corrupted the most. The once verdant Jungle become a desolated wasteland and that probably wudnt suit a ravager,

Is it's wings tied off? Kinda weird...

But seriously...other than the markings and the horn on the head...it looks nothing like a ravager...

Yeah. That's my thread. I think I actually linked it. But if I didn't: sorry, sorry for forgetting you, Petopia. I actually thought I linked it to all the WoW-related sites I go to.

That's just the mount with the armor stripped off. Hopefully for the actual ravager the model and appearance will be slightly closer to the OL version.

IE, no ropes, no awkward chunk taken out of the middle of the back...

I personally don't mind having different "subspecies" within a pet family. Maybe this is simply a more dominant species that shared a common ancestor with the Silithid, and not the "pre-corrupted version" of the more upright Outland type. Use your imagination!

Well to be fair they are also found in other places too :3 I don't think they would just be from there ya know?

This is why I don't think they are the "pre-ol" ones and just cousins. Bound to see the old model in WoD

That's what makes me really curious- how would there be a silithid-like creature on Dreanor? It's clearly very much like a silithid, from the wings to the shape. But as far as I know, silithid have been on Azeroth for hundreds of years. Would it be possible for them to have also spread to an entirely different world, and evolved differently there?

Well, we had Harbinger Skyriss who even said: "We span the universe, as countless as the stars!"

Plus the hints that Outland has at least one Old God.. and Old Gods like bug/insect species. From the Silithid/Qiraji of C'Thun, to the Nerubians of Yogg-Saron, and then again to the Mantid of Y'Shaarj. N'Zoth is likely to have his own insectoid species as well.

It could be that Ravagers (and perhaps Hook Wasps) were originally the insectoid servitors of Outland's Old God.

According to legend, the silithid spontaneously appeared out of the Well of Eternity. While it's possible they were just "magically created" there, it's quite likely they found their way into the world through the Well and therefore came from "elsewhere". Maybe from Draenor, maybe the nether, maybe some other world. They could have been spreading across the universe this way for a very long time. In which case, the ravagers and silithids may share a common ancestor.

Another argument could be that they're just like "Draenor versions" of so many other common beasts. Wolves, chimaeras, owls, hydras, even treants/ancients. Though presumably most of those are similar because they were all creations of the Titans, while it seems like the silithids were not.

I always found that quote a bit odd, since the lore stated that the qiraji were created by the Old Gods from the silithids on Azeroth. They hadn't just drifted in from other worlds. But then maybe it was common practice for the Old God world parasites to do that wherever they infested. Maybe they still keep in touch via FacelessBook.

Waiiiin, don't bring up FacelessBook here! That's supposed to be secret! Man, now we're going to need to change the domain and everything. Our cover is blown!

Every time this happens Yogg throws a big fit and starts trying to pin the blame on random people. Such a drama queen, ugh. And C'thun isn't any help with all the hyperbole, acting like it's the end of the world... That isn't planned for MONTHS, C'thun. Chill.

Ok, I'm all for the idea of 'pre mutated' etc etc, but come on, ain't no way Outland Ravagers used to look like this.

I mean, they've all been a stretch as it is, but this one by far.
