PTR Beasts/Pets Info ~ 6.2

Lets hope they add fel raptors and hydras and ravagers to the 6.2 patch :3 and maybe some raptor mounts using the new polished model.

I guess hoping for a quest or something to get a throwing weapon transmog like locks have green fire would be too much to ask at this point, but fel variations of pets isn't

Seems like Muffinus has been rather mum lately when it comes to 6.2 hunter pets. With each passing day, I get more worried we might not see anything.

Hopefully I'm wrong and he's got some good stuff in store for us.

Well, there are six new looks reported so far, one of which is that Iron Horde wolf. I'd say that's definitely seeing something

I'm still hopeful for the fel pig, but I can't see it in game as of the latest build (could have missed it though).

Also, there is one place in Tanaan that is very suspicious to me. Its a little area off to itself, a few critters flying around. It makes me think something might show up there.

PVP season end announcements just came up, looks like PTR is coming to an end soon. Guess we're not getting any actual rares in Tanaan or anything like that, unless they slip it in last minute.

I have to admit, I am surprised and disappointed to. We got a couple new skins, the cool iron horde wolf and red boar and couple worms etc. I figured the fel boar would show up as a rare spawn, maybe like Furyshell on Timeless Isle, or a challenge tame. I'm still looking but so far nothing.

Edit: @ Wain, it appears the hydra stuck under the ground is gone too. I couldn't find him on tracking.

I too am a bit disappointed. A few new skins on common mobs just doesn't do it for me, I was expecting at least one rare or a challenge tame. Looks more and more like that isn't happening.

Maybe I'm just a bit spoiled. Then again, it's pretty hard to top all the neat stuff we got in MoP, I guess.

I'm pretty excited that the Iron Wolf is staying tamable. And I will definitely be getting that red pig. I admit I was hoping for a new challenge tame or rare; but I hope that in every patch.

I'd be very very surprised if there is not something a lil extra special for this patch, it may already be somewhere and we've not found it, who knows!

Fel Boar as summoned by the T18 set bonus (previously this used the red boar model). Would be cool to have it as a regular pet as well.

Fel Boar IS spawned from the hunter 4pc set. Confirmed by Bendak.

Good to know about the fel boar on the tier set

I've seen in the new client database that the skin has been allocated to two different looks (morph IDs). One is for the armour proc pig, the other is for... ? It could well not be used in the game, but we can hope it's set to be used somewhere.

Keep looking. There may be more than has been missed

They're still there. They come and go (and can appear in different parts of the Iron Front) and have confused me in the past too. I thought they were fixed a few patches ago and removed them from the list, only to see them again later.

So a couple thoughts about the fel boar.

1- I have checked the rares on Jungle Hunter. There is a rare boar named Steelsnout that uses the red boar skin, and is surrounded by red boars. It wouldn't be the craziest thing to see this changed to fel boar since they are literally within eye shot of the fel blight area, and rares usually are a distinct skin from their surrounding common mobs, but I don't personally see this coming.

2- speaking of rares, the rare bat has a special summon mechanic. So a fel boar in the wild may not be a true rare, but it could have a special way to be summoned? perhaps Gara like?

3- maybe we need to think outside of Tanaan. The 3 spirit porcupines were added to zones in MoP instead of the 5.2 added Isles.

4- maybe its in the raid? I don't do raid testing, and I didn't see it as a boss add (like the red flame Gara-like wolf), but maybe trash?

5- worst case scenario is it ends up like the cool wolf model under the iron wolf armor: unused.

The Diresnout Felboar now has a map mark on Wowhead, so I guess it's not a trick tame

It was really too good to just be an armour proc I was wondering if it'd be a trick tame, but it's just there by Hellfire. Basically you go over the bridge to the instance, then turn a sharp left and scramble over the rocks to where it patrols.

I didn't find it. Someone had already detected it on Wowhead. Though I guess it might just show up on the client if someone gets in detection range even if they never saw it.
