Telia just announced that it will be "at least" a week until my neighborhood can get our connection back.

Also, 3G modems suck. They're slow, and they gave us one per household. Guess I'll be playing some boring offline game until then...

Well, at least I'm not entirely devoid of Internet. I still have the iPhone, and I'll still be able to steal the modem over the night, so some WoW time too.

What grinds me gears atm is itemlevl and gearscore...We just won WG and everyone starts looking for a VoA10/25 group. I was saved to 25 so i decide i might aswell do VoA10, so i say the usual "dps lfg VoA10" and don't get an invite until a setup raid only needs for example, 2 dps and a tank. So this raid group starts asking for 2 dps a healer and tank so i ask for an invite, join the raid and instantly kicked. I sent the raid leader a question mark and he tells me my gs is to low...i should of corrected his grammar instead of just loling at him. A few minutes later he's asking for a healer and 1 more dps, so i realise he's standing right next to me and i decide to compare achievements. What i saw made my jaw drop. He hadn't even beeen in VoA25 (not a successful one atleast), i should of just linked him my Toravon achievement but i find with these people that think it's the gearscore doing the damage and not the player, are just too stupid to realise that it's the player and not the gear.

Countless times i've been in raids with tons of better geared people than me and i've been in the top 10 (That's pretty much every raid i've been in) and the VoA25 i done earlier is no different, i was 8th on the meters. There must of been 2-3 people with lower gear than me and everyone else having over 5k gearscore. It's proof that gearscore only helps with 5% of dps and the rest is down to the player.

Sorry if i sound like i'm bragging there, i don't mean to sound like that it's just when i explain raid experiences like that i tend to use real life stories, and it's only when a guildie thought i was bragging i became so aware of what i say when i retell my experiences.

One thing that happens to me often and kinda gets me peeved ...

When at work you try to help out a fellow co-worker with something and they turn to look at you and say "I got this" with a condesending look on their face and attitude in their voice!

Sometimes I feel like saying back, "Well excuse me for trying to be a nice person, I assure you it won't happen again!"

oh and ...

People who shop in my store (if you don't know already, I work in retail) and allow their bratty-ass children to run amok unsupervised like it's their own personal playground or people who allow their babies to slobber over a toy or stuffed animal only to walk out 30 mins. later and decide they don't want to purchase the item ... people are so gross, bleh!

Not trying to make a "personal attack" post but... What drives me insane is people who bash and flame and hate on things like Twilight, and anyone who likes it (I personally liked the Twilight books, (Not to mention the movies.. Well really only the second one, only for how cool the Werewolves looked <3) but I'm not a rabid fangirl)

Seriously, if you hate it so much, why the heck do you waste your time hating it when you can be doing other, productive things?!

What also grinds my gears is stereotypes. Especially the Huntard and Emo stereotypes... Not going to explain my hate of the Huntard stereotype, because I'm sure most of you agree with any sort of explaination on how dumb it is.

But in truth, Emo is short for EMOTIONAL. NOT eternally despressed/wanting to die/hurting oneself. I get so mad when people say "lol emo", I mean, seriously?!

Yay for ranting! XD

I can say for myself at least that my feelings about Twilight come from concern. It does NOT show a healthy relationship but many teen girls think it does. I have the same feelings about Romeo and Juliet. Sure, great piece of literature, but not a great romance novel. /shrug Not an attack on you, either. I haven't read the books or seen the movies but from what I've gathered there's some really disturbing themes in there, and it's marketed towards people who aren't experienced enough to know how bad it is. It does seem like fanfiction and I'm still baffled at how it became a phenomenon. I do enjoy it a bit, though. For without it, we would not have this.

Edited to add: I didn't want to turn this into a Twilight debate. Onward with the peeves!

Unstable servers. Seriously, Tarren Mill, the server all my Alli toons are on, has been going randomly offline all week. :P Let's hope for a free migration soon. *crosses fingers*

Edit: After some digging around, I found out that a kid has been using a fishing macro to crash the server. :P The Dalaran fountain is swarming with angry people.

It's basically just the fact that they can't speak swedish. It's broken grammar, odd pronounciation, and the fact that they mix in words from their own language. How the 'eff do you expect me to understand? And sadly, no webpages...

WARNING: Rant ahead. May contain expletives. Censoring not my strong point when furious.

You know what I hate? When complete ASSHATS pull the dorm's fire alarm at THREE IN THE FUCKING MORNING. Srsly! After logging for the night from the guild, it took me probably an hour to wind down and fall asleep. Fifty minutes later, the dorm's alarm goes off. This means that we have to immediately vacate the building and wait outside until the firemen give us the all-clear for safety and re-entry.

It took over an HOUR. An HOUR! As I write, I literally just got back in.

Know what else? IT WAS COLD OUT. VERY. VERY COLD. My pjs are not conducive to keeping out the frigid winter air, march or no.

Furthermore, 99.9% of the people IN my dorm were RIPSHIT, because who the hell wants to get up at 3AM to stand outside in the freezing cold for over an hour! So everyone was loud and obnoxious, and had the edges of that mania that usually comes before a riot.

The firemen were not pleased either. I can't blame them, I'd be pissed if I got called in for a false alarm. Only problem? They were assholes to ALL of us. Now, granted, I think they'd have the right to be angry at whoever pulled the damn alarm. I know if I ever get my claws on them they are getting SHANKED. But does this give them the right to act all superior and be assholes to the rest of us who had nothing to do with the incident, except getting stuck outside because of it? Hell no! And yet they were very sharp with us anytime somebody asked how long it was going to take or what was going on. And i heard more than one fireman make condescending remarks about us getting all riled up over 'losing forty winks.' I mean, come on. I didn't pull the friggin' fire alarm, why are you being a jerk to ME.

To top it off, when we were finally allowed back in, they had to actually card each and every one of us and check it on a list of residents. This makes me think there was property damage, probably from a visitor, or maybe the alarm-puller just pulled and ditched. The result was that it took for-bloody-EVER to get back in the damn building. And honestly, I feel incredibly sorry for the legitimate guests--friends and family who came up for the weekend to visit. Most of them are getting turned away, or need to appeal directly to the RD in order to be able to stay the rest of the night. And, my legs still feel stiff and frozen from waiting outside, standing, for over an hour, in the cold, and then the line!

Oh, and the cherry on top? When I got back into my room, the lights that I distinctly recall turning off, were on. I know it's RA policy to have to check all the rooms during a fire alarm, but somehow it just makes me uncomfortable to think they could have been messing around in my room. RRGH.

VelkynKarma is going to bed. She is pissed, and exhausted, and still freezing.

NEXT DAY EDIT:
Turns out, the reason for the alarm was ARSON. Arson! Some idiot intentionally lit a fire in the laundry room in the trash. There have been arson attacks in a lot of the other dorms too. I mean, seriously. Why to people PULL this kind of crap? ARGH!

Saturo: Please stop falling down the stairs.

FlightofthePhoenix: Have you seen the blog Sociological Images? Sounds like you might enjoy it. ;)

I'm in a decent mood today for the first time in a week (go mixed states!) but ... I am a bit annoyed with our neighbors. They are trying to sell their house (and charging too much for it, in a neighborhood with about a 30% vacancy rate right now) so they've gone overboard on the whole curb appeal thing. That's fine, except they keep sneaking over when we're asleep to try to clean up *our* yard -- mowing down my wildflowers and trimming the bush I was trying grow taller.

Okay, we're renters and it's not really our bush anyway, and I do understand that they are concerned about selling their house, and they *are* doing free yard work for us, but ... shouldn't they ask us to take care of it before they go all ninja about it? They've never once spoken to us about any of this. And we've seen them by the mailbox several times (and nodded, and smiled, and said hello).

*shrug* It just makes me feel shunned.

I do believe it's illegal for them to enter and do yard work for you. It's called "Obstruction of Private Property" in Sweden, I'm sure there's something similar where you live. I can certainly see why you're annoyed. Right after I'm done... "Visiting"... Ghostcrawler, I'll come and... "Talk"... To them... Well, my shotgun will be doing most of the talking, but still...

Things that grind my gears...

People at work that take things personally against them when you are complaining about things that affect you personally.

People that can't be wrong, even when faced with undeniable proof. (yes, I have a teenager... /sigh)

People that think "fun time" means their brains can take a hike and anything that forces them to think or react is a severe inconvenience.

Traffic jams after a 13 hour work day.

People that equate team victories with personal victories... Oh yeah, I've downed the Lich King, he's easy..... with 24 other equally skilled individuals helping you... or We kicked your asses in the super bowl!!!! Really? I don't play football anymore...
I don't really feel like this is so much the "Post-Modern" era as much as its the "Pre-Zombie-Apocalpse" era. I consider myself more of a forward thinking guy and an era that just won't die is just as feasible as a coming era, where the dead come back.

So, I log onto Stereoptic, just to get my daily random done, and the first thing I'm greeted with:
"pet on passive or ur kicked"
I give 'em the normal yada-yada, I'm BM, the pet is a large part of my damage, I can keep control of it, if it pulls more mobs because I do something wrong, then you can kick me.
But no. I keep the pet under control, but the whole run I get "get rid of the stupid pet!". Mind you, it's just one paladin saying this, and I'm not going to put Roar on passive just to shut him up. And suddenly I have been removed from the group. The Rogue, who was also from Bloodhoof quickly whispered "lol why did they kick u?". I am starting to think groups have serious problems, when they start votekicking someone who has'nt done anything wrong. And even worse, the Rogue later whispers "i asked them, but they said they just clicked yes without looking who was getting kicked". /sigh.

Added the Rogue to my friends list, and ran a few dungeons with him, he was rather good. Ignored the rest of the group.

Yay for random dungeons!

This annoys me to no end. People are stupid. People are of course, given power over who get's kicked out of the group. It's. So. Stupid.

And the prick paladin complaining about pets? Needs to learn to fsking look at what's going on around him. FFS.
