Yayyyyyy!!!! Knew you could do it! ^_^

God, yes, seconded. And it has nothing to do with what other people say. If you know what you're doing, you'll know if something is actually your fault or not.

It's true. One of our guildies' wife recently joined the guild, and she's been complaining about healing NR dungeons. Not that it's a hassle to her, she wants to be a good healer, but she's struggling and always seems to think it's her fault when things go bad... I've been trying to tell her that once she gets more comfortable with her abilities and skill as a healer, she'll learn to see how often things that look like they might be a healing problem actually have to do with poor aggro or gear on the part of the tank, slow dps, or missing CC. It comes with experience.

Unfortunately, many WoW players are willing to take advantage of another player's lack of knowledge to make him think it's his fault. I've had tanks yell at me for bad heals, just to point out that they're not def capped in a heroic. It certainly shuts them up, but how many "bad" healers have they yelled at before meeting me?

I've probably been taken advantage of more than once in that regard. I have a tendency to think things are my fault before anything else. Occasionally I know for a FACT something is my fault (I've accidentally tab-pet-attacked things when I shouldn't have before, stuff like that...most recently in Trial when I accidentally sicced poor Fely straight at the Tauren champion XD Thankfully, the group thought it was hilarious...). But even when I'm not sure I have a tendency to blame myself first :P

Of course the more I play, the better I get at understanding instance mechanics. I'm starting to be able to tell better when the tank has messed up, or when it really IS the heals that are a problem. I'm getting better at keeping an eye on the healer too to protect them against mobs that the tank missed or lost. Hopefully I'll be a real good player eventually XD

But yes, now I won't be so worried about jumping into Forge of Souls. In fact I found the first boss, and that storm thing, rather fun XD Next stop: Pit of Saron!

<3 you for stating these things in such a coherent, eloquent manner, Sara. ;) I like calling out the people who blame everyone but themselves for things going wrong, when it's clearly their doing. After all, why should the innocent (or more innocent, at least; sometimes you can contribute to a wipe without being the major cause of it) take the blame for the loudest player's failings?

Something else that some of these obnoxious players forget is that just because a player is unsure of themselves or isn't really on top of how a particular instance works, it doesn't mean that they'll always be that way. I mean seriously, look at how Velk handles FoS like a pro now. (Sorry for using you as an example, Velk, but it's in the most positive of ways! You have the right attitude and I want to spotlight that.) Anyone who wants to learn how to play their character better or learn how an instance works can do it, regardless of how casually they play the game. All it takes is a bit of effort and having someone to show them the ropes helps a LOT. In other words, I don't see the point of players who know how to play yelling at the more casual player who hasn't gone through that process yet. It's not going to help them learn.

My accomplishment is went I was playing in Strand of the Ancient Battleground. I had the machine that was able to damage the relic room door, and then my Bomb blasted through it. I got to the chamber first. Woohoo.

Lol no, no worries, I don't mind you using me as an example. I fit XD Given the time to prepare, even casual players like myself can run dungeons easily. And everybody has a first time on something; sometimes you just gotta stumble through it once 'in person' to really understand what the descriptions on wowwiki or wowhead or whatever mean. I've definitely had a few moments like that. "Oooh, so THAT'S what they meant by poison clouds...more of a poison splotch than a cloud, but okay, now I know what to NOT STAND IN in the future. CHECK." Etc etc.

And having been the casual player stumbling through things the first time (and in the case of a few instances, still), I always try to be lenient with people if they happen to be running something the first time in a group with me. I know from experience, a friendly group really does help with that sort of thing :)

Oh god, yes, THIS, a hundred times this. Some things really need to be seen in person to be fully comprehended. And sometimes explanations will leave out the explanation that the fire on such and such a fight is BLUE, not RED. And other times, on a fight like Hodir, players might not be able to see the marks on the ground because their particle density wasn't set high enough (or whichever setting it was; I forget now).

Something that I've noticed as a poor quality in raid leaders (since raids generally have the most complex fights) is that they'll explain every little detail and overload the raid on information, so the basic, most important concepts are lost. I simplify blood queen down to "there's two things you need to be aware of: purple/shadows means run out, red/pact means run in." Are the other details important? Sure, but the precise whys of everything are less important to first timers than knowing that if they do the wrong thing, they can wipe the raid.

AHAHAHAHAHA!

Today has been a GOOD day! After finishing my netherwing dalies I idly did a quick calculation and discovered I only had about 12 eggs to go to exalted. I did a swing around figuring, why not, and ended up finding five. Then I was like...so CLOSE. MUST GRIND.

It took over two hours to find the last egg, but I DID IT. And now I am the proud owner of my own Netherwing :D

Image

GLEEEE.

Only one for now (I have no idea where to buy the others) but man I'm so proud. :D

WOOO! Congrats!!!!!!!! :D

To buy the other colours you have to go back to Netherwing Ledge. In the camp there's an Orc vendor who sells them near the fence by the sky racers. ^^

Lol no wonder I couldn't find him. I was trying to ask the other drakes and talk to the final quest guy in Shattrath.

That seems kinda....dangerous on so many levels though...I mean aren't I wanted for execution by Illidan if I go back there...and why do the Dragonmaw have several free nether drakes of varying colors to sell, anyway?
