Re: Crappy Groups
That aside, he sounds like an ass. Sounds generally like a couple of guilded kids going out of their way to be jerks. It's a shame, but you outlevel them eventually. I can count on one hand the number of genuinely rude (as opposed to silly, lazy, or incompetent) PuGs I've encountered at 80, whereas they seemed a LOT more prevalent at lower levels.
Report the lock for griefing, once you've killed it a few dozen times

Re: Crappy Groups
I, and everyone else in the group, reported him for griefing. He hasn't been online since for me to exact my graveyard camping brand of justice, and I'm hoping it's because he received a temp ban. The other option I was considering was to speak with his guild leader and ask if he/she tolerates that kind of behavior from guildies. I know that's something I certainly wouldn't tolerate. But as it turns out, he and his buddy have become unguilded since that dungeon run.Sarayana wrote:Personally, I'd report the lock for griefing. What he did - repeatedly wiping the group deliberately - is nothing less, and I'd not be surprised if a ticket would get him a temp ban. It would definitely move him up the pyramid.
I'm sorry to hear about your guildie. I hope she gets her courage back.
I hope she gets her courage back too, she's a good tank, she's just sensitive and is very insecure about her tanking abilities. I'm trying to get her confidence up by running tons of dungeons with her, but that kind of stuff doesn't help at all, even though it wasn't remotely her fault.
And, another crappy group story! Except in this case, it's a crappy hunter, and it makes me kind of sad.
Yesterday I was doing my daily frost emblem run with a guildie (dps) and two friends (warrior tank, rogue dps). I was healing, as per usual. I will fully admit that my warrior tank friend can be abrasive, but he's a good tank and knows what he's doing. I mention this, because if he was less abrasive then the dungeon run may have ended differently.
We zone in to halls of stone, and wonder of wonders, our PUG dps is a hunter with king krush. That was the first time I'd seen a king krush other than my own beloved Rofflestomp, so I commented on it and congratulated him on the tame. A friendly conversation followed about the difficulty in taming him while I buffed and the tank started the first pull.
Everything was going along swimmingly until we got to the 'four way stop,' you go straight through for the maiden of grief, right for the stone dude, and left for the Brann event. I've had difficulty with that spot before, because it's really easy to aggro the pats and get a whole lot of mobs. We cleared what we had to, and were planning to go right for the stone boss. Then, this exchange happened between the tank and hunter:
Tank: move ur pet.
(Krush was dangerously close to the corner and would likely pull the pats if he wasn't moved).
Hunter: he's fine.
Tank: move ur pet, or we'll get the pat.
Hunter: stop giving me attitude, it's not a problem.
*insert name calling and nerdraging on the part of both the tank and hunter, mostly the hunter*
At this point a vote kick was initiated, presumably by my abrasive tank friend, but I declined it and whispered him, saying we should just drop it and finish the dungeon. Abrasive warrior agreed, and we continued on. The hunter, however, continued to be a jerk. When the second vote kick was initiated, I agreed, and the hunter was kicked from the group.
The hunter then created a character on my realm with the sole purpose of yelling at me (lots of b words and c words thrown in my direction). This baffled me, as he picked me for this assault, when I had been perfectly friendly with him and hadn't initiated the votekick to begin with. Eventually he moved on to the tank, this time escalating to threats of violence and demanding the tank give the hunter his address so that they could meet in real life to sort it out. The hunter even gave the tank his exact address (apartment number and everything), and hinted at having firearms at his disposal to sort the matter out with.
Crazy.

I mean sure it's a very immersive game, but at the end of the day, everything is still digital and not real. If you get kicked in game it doesn't mean you got fired IRL. If you die in game, you're still alive IRL to stew over it. Why do people take it so freakin' seriously?

Re: Crappy Groups
Had a level 72 and 67 queue into Old Hillsbrad with me (on my 69 warrior) and a couple of friends. The 72 was marks, the 67 BM. The marks hunter afked the moment we entered the instance, then came back before the early trash....and then afked through the trash up to the first boss. Seemed confused by the quest, which was understandable, but as the instance went on, I'm not sure he wasn't just afking.
We cleared up to the beginning of the escort, then had to double back to kill a couple of mobs that one of the hunters had pulled from somewhere. A little odd, but whatever. We started the escort. Allow me to take a moment to curse at Blizzard's shoddy instance design in Outland, since the mechanic of the Mana Tombs escort is totally different than the Old Hillsbrad one, and it's BAD when people don't pick up the second part of the quest. I think only the BM hunter and I got the quest. Sigh. Anyway, the moment Thrall was tapped, he went running upstairs to where the 72 had pulled some mobs. We're not talking the main level, we're talking UP THE FRIGGIN' STAIRS in the keep. There is NO REASON to EVER go up there. Period. Oh, did I mention that this hunter wasn't misdirecting? Not that that should be a surprise.
The rest of the instance passed without much incident, though we did almost have a problem when the healer had to go afk and one of the hunters started the final boss waves. Given, it was not announced in party chat that he had gone afk, but when the tank clearly knows the instance and isn't pulling the next part, you'd think there would be a reason, right? Thankfully, he came back after the first wave, so I was only down to half health, but I was constantly playing catchup with grabbing the packs (they always were a bit messy). So no deaths, but it was frustrating as all hell.
Oh, and as for the damage meters, even when the marks hunter was around, the BM hunter won. He may have had BoAs, but his gear was otherwise FAR crappier than the marks hunter's (he was in Northrend gear). Course, the marks hunter seemed a bit...slow. Starting a volley at the END of a pull is bad...
I know it shouldn't bother me so much, but it does. :/

Re: Crappy Groups

At least you got through it, so the incompetence did not lead to mass wiping and not completing the instance?

Re: Crappy Groups
Funnily enough, it has started to occur me that the noobs are rolling MM/SV now, thinking the spec is everything. Then there are those BM for life types (like me *grin*) that take nothing for granted and give it all they have. Naturally this isn't true with every single Hunter around, but I've noticed a trend lately.Kalliope wrote:Oh, and as for the damage meters, even when the marks hunter was around, the BM hunter won. I still judge each hunter I encounter by how they play, but I definitely don't jump for joy seeing a fellow marks hunter or anything. xD

Though I have a very nice way of dealing with people in randoms when I am on my Druid or Shammy (they que as heals). If they're rude or ninjaing...no heals for them, no rez's either.
And if I am on my hunter and someones being rude...I'll whisper the healer, and usually we make a deal. I MD the idiot, and the healer doesn't heal them! just solving the problem.
