Another tameable serpent with the new serpent model. But it doesn't really look like a cobra, so it's probably the wrong model.
EDIT:
This gives me a lot of hope! :
http://wod.wowhead.com/npc=75772#.
http://wod.wowhead.com/npc=77597#.
http://wod.wowhead.com/npc=77099#.
and this Rylak is classified as a tameable Chimaera. Probably a fragment from an older build, from before the Rylak family:
http://wod.wowhead.com/npc=72849#.
EDIT 2:
Another serpent with the new model labeled tameable:
http://wod.wowhead.com/npc=77070#.
This one has a name that fits with the model. Adder.
Draenor has Pterrorwings. Or the Trolls brought them in:
http://wod.wowhead.com/npc=71782#.
Still hoping they and Kunchong will become tameable.

Kunchong for hunter pets!

Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
Razorfen Kraul has also been updated. It has at least three colours of the new bat model, none of which are currently tameable, or even marked as bats. The blond one is a boss and the fight looks like it might be quite interesting at level.

So far, all the plant hydra NPCs I've seen are beasts. I've even seen one that specifically had "Hydra" in the name. It's possible that they will become tameable.
http://wod.wowhead.com/npc=80699#modelviewer:10+0
Also.. Draenor roaches are very #savage:
http://wod.wowhead.com/npc=71870#modelviewer:10+0
Not sure if these crab colours were available yet ingame:
http://wod.wowhead.com/npc=75812#modelviewer:10+0
http://wod.wowhead.com/npc=74508#modelviewer:10+0
It's hard, because Wain demonstrated that there are a lot of possible variations to work with for the texture.
EDIT:]
http://wod.wowhead.com/npc=80652#modelviewer:10+0
Some more Sandreaver in WoD.
Yet another beast with the new pythonpet model. This one an anaconda. Another fitting name for the model, and it's tameable too.
http://wod.wowhead.com/npc=80354#modelviewer:10+0
It's a hydra, but also a plant!

Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
Razorfen Downs also revamped. Lots of untameable spiders. Don't have time to worry about them more tonight though.
(Plus I think it's a bit broken, or I'm not reading what to do correctly).

http://wod.wowhead.com/npc=75207#modelviewer:10+0 I don't know if anyone caught it, but I found this plant hydra with a very... memorable name.
What did the buffalo say when his son left? Simple: Bison
Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
Checked most, but not quite all, hydras tonight and were tameable and are now marked as such on the OP. Still haven't checked Spirit of Atha, Trigore the Lasher or Chimaeron.

Mass reply time!
I can't believe after all these years my lil black hydra will finally get to come home with me. ;u;
A bit of sad news about Aku'mai! Not really the skin per se, as it's available in other places, but I have a lot of fond nostalgia for BFD and I always loved Aku'mai as a character. On that other hand though, shame the new model isn't tameable somehow as I LOVE that purple head!
I'm very stoked about those new python models though, I'm dying to tame one so I hope they really do make it!
REALLY CROSSING MY FINGERS for Pterrorwings and Kunchongs.

EEE, Wain that's so exciting to see!Wain wrote:Just leaving this here...

(Didnt see this mentioned) I recall after Cata, they changed the quest for Echeyakee where you could "kill or subdue (tame)" to complete quest.Wain wrote:Now THIS is interesting. I went to test out Vorsha the Lasher, the purple hydra that is a Horde quest spawn (so you don't need to wait for the rare in the Barrens). Not only did I tame her, but it also considered the quest completed as she was defeated. Is this kind of mechanic new, or are there other quests where you can tame and still have the quest complete?

^if they call a version of it Gino (or a variation) i'm in.
so I guess the thunder-hydra hasn't been put in game yet from the sound of it.
out of curiosity, when someone hits 91, could cracklefang be checked to see if he keeps his sword and if he functions/animates normally?

Old content may be a while. The stat squish has not been yet applied to old world content damage output, so old mobs can one shot players who have squished health because old world mobs dmg hasn't been squished yetSylviaDragon wrote:has anyone done much poking around in mop content?

Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
OMG, yes. I walked into ZG to check out the hydras there and even the poison mist just inside the entrance killed me in seconds! The mobs were unsoloable. I had to sneak around to get a hydra and hope the murder fish didn't get me first.
Non-heroic instances are much easier.
I haven't checked out Pandaria yet. Currently you can't import your live toons, but only create pre-mades. Those don't come with any saves for older expansions so by default you don't see any portals for Cata or MoP. I'll have to get around to doing the starting quests. I'm hoping I can at least fly once I arrive. But first I want to get a couple of levels so when I get there I can check out those beasts that were simply too high to tame at 90.

Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
grrrr. I can already predict that Trigore (the only red) is going to be the hardest hydra to get. The damned thing is too shy to appear and it's been over 24 hours
Granted I think it's programmed to spawn after a while and the server may have reset a lot of times in between. But in comparison I've found Gesharahan every time I've looked!

Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
Meet Gimpy*, a rylak I just tamed.

Actually, he's actually classed as a Chimaera at the moment. But he's the model we were told were becoming Rylaks.
We were told they have different animations to normal chimaeras, too. This is already true, but I hope the current ones are only placeholder animations from the mount. You know when someone uses the Iron Skyreaver as a ground mount and it flops along like a seal with arthritis, but on speed? That's what he does. As far as I've seen he never flies, even when following me or in combat. I feel bad about this. There he was, happily soaring through the sky before I tamed him (and apparently cut his wing tendons or something?) and now he's condemned to a life of earthbound servitude.
This is Alpha, so anything could change yet. Quite possibly there are new animations to come and I'm only seeing a rough draft, but if this is anything like them then I feel that making it a ground creature is perhaps not a good decision. :/ But then maybe I'm in a minority and people actually love the way the skyreaver moves on the ground
