I still don't like the hoof shape but the rest is brilliant, I think she looks really pretty! I love the hairband one. n.nb

Re: New Character Models Update! Tauren Males Finished
They did a very nice job of preserving the look and feel of the original models, these look really good so far! I'm looking forward to seeing them in motion to get a real impression, it's hard to gauge some of the details in the T pose.
A few of the hairstyles seems to clip with the horns a bit, but that's a minor detail and I'm sure they'll still tweak things. I imagine the blood elf revamps will be very similar to this, and so far that looks like a good sign. Actually if I had to nitpick one tiny thing it would be the short bob hairstyle in the second image. It's always been one of my favourites, and the new one doesn't seem as "poofy" as the original, it changes the feel of it somehow.

Re: New Character Models Update! Female Draenei!
Eee...I'm glad they don't have the caribou hooves. Not a fan.
Re: New Character Models Update! Female Draenei!
In the writeup, they mention that the posture of fem-drae is in the rigging and that the old model would 'look much like the new one' in a T-pose. I hope what they mean is 'they'll fix it at that stage' instead of saying 'we're going to put the old pose right back on this lovely new model, lol'.
I really don't know how to tell them they'd better not re-swayback our nice new draenei. Also I'm really disappointed they didn't fix the tails, but the faces are better and their tendrils aren't so spider-leggy.

Re: New Character Models Update! Female Draenei!
I would have liked to have seen them retain the light fur around the hooves like the original models have, now they look very smooth. I know it's always been a point of contention over whether or not draenei had fur, but to me they at least had some at the bottom of their legs, the texture was quite obvious on the first models.
I just wish we had a few more options to make them more alien looking rather than blue human females with horns. I wouldn't mind more facial crest customization, but I know all that's probably too late to change after all these years.

Fur may come later? It isn't a finished model yet after all.
Also, for facial crest, longer horns, more exotic faces and longer tails.. well, you should not give up. Chris Robinson (lead when it comes to upgrading char models) has said they're not planning to just say "well, done is done." after they're done updating. They're in fact planning to add more forms of customization after WoD release. But before they do it, they just have to make sure they're done with the main update. I for one will be reminding Chris Robinson that many people would love the option to have longer tails, headplates (with horn or hairstyles), and sharper, more experienced faces.

Yeah, it's still early and I know they're not at a final product stage yet, so part of me is optimistic.
Though with the april fool's model it almost seems as though they were putting the fur in as a joke so hard to tell what direction they want to go with it.

Yes I thought, "Oh look, they fixed her posture!" And then read the article, which sounded like, "Don't worry, we're not actually fixing the posture."Nachtwulf wrote:In the writeup, they mention that the posture is in the rigging and that the old model would 'look much like the new one' in a T-pose. Re: New Character Models Update! Female Draenei!
Yeah...maybe I'm reading it wrong, but the posture of the original sounds intended...and very much something that will happen to the new model?
"Animation is a big factor for the female Draenei specifically, so it’s important to keep it in mind when comparing the two. The original female Draenei has some fairly extreme posing that happens when she’s animated. If you were to see the static model of the original without any posing you’d see that it looks very similar to the new one. With her pose applied her shoulders stretch backward, her pelvis rotates forward, and her chin lowers—causing her head to angle downwards. The curvature in her lower back, and why the head shape looks slightly different, are also due to the new model not having the same posing applied yet. She also looks a lot taller! Ultimately all of those things will be addressed when we animate the new model, they just don’t take place until she’s rigged and sent on to the animation team."
Sounds like her curved spine will return when the put her on the animation rig?

Re: New Character Models Update! Female Draenei!
Only things I have to nitpick about is, like others have already mentioned, the lack of fur at the base of their hooves and I wish their tails were a tad higher too. But otherwise, I think they did an amazing job. Can't wait to see them animated.
I do hope though that we get new horn shapes, rather than just updated old ones. Different tails (ones that look closer to males in shape, not size of course. Just that sort of armored look) would be a cool option, or different accessories for horns/tails/hooves would be nice as well.

It's a very small thing, but I LOVE how the different races now puff their cheeks out and hold their breath while swimming. It's just so good it hurts

I'm iffy about them. They look nice, but I'll probably stick to my males still. I'm lil disappointed at the lack of fur on the legs and the still short tail. I hope the males keep their fur and linger tails.

MMO-champ has some of the new models in Model Viewer, so you can view all the animations and look closely at the new models.
Gotta say, it changed my mind on tauren. I'm completely smitten. They're so dang lovable now- cute as heck, but not ridiculous. I want to hug one. ...And never ever get near them in battle, because they have a vicious battle snarl.
(Their nose moves as they sniff, it's freaking adorable.)

I hope they don't do that! ><; That was my biggest beef with them in the first place!pawprintedheart wrote:Yeah...maybe I'm reading it wrong, but the posture of the original sounds intended...and very much something that will happen to the new model?

Oh my gosh! I love the new Draenei females. They look amazing!
And to me the tails do look longer. Its slight. But to me it looks light it just might be.

Re: New Character Models Update! Female Draenei!
I really like the new models. Two of my favorite lvl 70 alts are Draenei and I look forward to seeing how they turn out. Wish the tails were a bit longer but they have promised lots of new detail options for later so I will cross my fingers and hope. I really, really hope they don't screw up her spine again. I like her better this way. Sadly the comment section on the post looks like its filled with a fair number of complaints about the missing back arch and how her butt and boobs are not as perky without it. /sigh...
