A little late, but...!

Image

After several failed "FEESH 'AP A BLEEDINK TURTL'." crusades in Dragonblight, Vasken took an accidental wrong turn and ended up here. Right here. A boring ol' temple. The troll hastily fumbled around, trying desperately to resume his fishing misadventure before spotting an odd shape flittering around the snow nearby. Blue... Sca-... SCALES?! There was no doubt in Vasken's mind.

IT'S A FISH.
Image

Wait...

Image

Or not. He stared vacantly at the not-a-wolf-but-apparently-a-dog creature for several minutes. It could've at LEAST been a turtle! Wa-... It's a dogfish. Totally. The apparent dogfish was dubbed "NE'FEESH". He turned to leave, the disappointment evident in his demeano- Ey wat wat.

WHAT HAPPENED TO ITS FACE!?

Image

It's broken. The jaws! THE JAWS! He hastily dragged the bewildered dogfish into the nearby Tuskarr settlement, pillaging their fish supplies and mistakenly stumbling off the pier. Accident, honest.

Image

He noticed something- something odd. It was that good at swimming, it didn't even need to move its feet! WHOA NELLY. Vasken revelled in the fabulous rays radiating from the underwaterwalking dogfish before deciding to squint at his new, talented companion elsewhere. Northrend is COLD.

He made his way to Boren Tu- Storm Peaks. MANDATORY DETOUR.

Image

After waiting for an hour or so for the elusive, poop-coloured, proto-drake, Nefeesh the Dogfish decided he'd HAD ENOUGH. Look at that SCOWL. Those DEVIOUS INVISIBLE EYEBROWS. Those TEETH. Vasken, at first, was hesitant, until the creature crumpled its snout into an ungodly shape. HRNGHHHGGGGGGH. The troll eventually caved in.

Image

Mulgo-... Why Mulgore!? Because walking down ALL THOSE steps in Orgrimmar's zeppelin tour takes EFFORT. The troll and his not-so-affectionate dogfish mulled about the plains, eventually tiring of... The plains. Plains. Everywhere. Many plains left side! Snakes in a plai-

Image

Both Vasken and Nefeesh blankly gazed at the peaceful scenery. Of course, the troll was evidently thinking up the best way to cook his new companion. It's still fish... Right!?

____

... Ahem. Sorryforwritingasillystory. Tend to rarely use pets for PvE and PvPing... Mainly because I hardly do either! May as well focus on the RP aspect of these critters. While there's a few other flaws with the model, including the paper-thin strip of hair and the tinytinythin legs, they were suprisingly difficult to capture in a screenshot due to Vasken's height! Their lockjaw ability was... No idea! Hardly used it! It's best micromanaged, but as BM, I'd rather turn it off since the pet doesn't do damage while it's channeling. It's also... Tiny. Very small. Would like them a little bigger, but there's something oddly endearing about their short stature. Absolutely adore their textures and animations (minus the AUGHFACE), too. Bounce-hop is adorable!

Very, very tempted to keep him... Even if it's filling up that last dreaded stable slot, eeep! Need that space for a (possible) hydra!

Not sure whether to keep the name "Nefeesh", or rename him to "Dogfeesh" or "Dogfish". Scales! Scaaales!

Will finish off Avanji's roll later. :D

Hey there!

So my pet was the Brown Beetle. As my images are in another computer, I will have to upload those another time if tis all right.

My first thought when I saw my selected pet was that it looked "dirty", which is rather surprising for a pet you can only find underwater. Finding it was quick and easy and it did not look nearly as dirty in game as it does in it picture. As I wanted to fit him within my naming schema, I named him Oxford. We first went to Twilight Highlands to run a few quests.

Looks: Although I'm not a fan of Brown (most of mine are purple), I was rather pleasantly impressed with his look. It almost seemed to glisten from the first fight. His Thunder Clap animation was nice, but his other animations just seemed weird. I was just waiting for him to fall over every time we walked somewhere. And lunging to attack...just odd.

Abilities and Food: I hate his diet as I almost never have any fruit or fungus in my bag. Harden Carapace is just a copy of Shell Shield, but it just looks weird when it activates...at least turtles have a circular shell to go with it.

Playability: Surprisingly, he was horrible at holding aggro. I mean really bad...my Serpent does far better, and he isn't Tenacity. I did give him a full spec, make sure that his cower was off and growl was on. At first, I thought that this might have to do with his level, but it only got marginally better at higher levels. I felt like I was running and kiting mobs almost the entire time, save for a few random fights where he picked up the slack. By the end, he was holding aggro, but I felt like I was holding back shots to get him to do so. I did love that he wasn't an exotic, which meant that I could go Marksman. Also he did surprisingly good in PvP, but was definitely not terrific by any stretch.

Future: I may try this out with a different look and see how it works. Right now though, I don't see myself keeping this pet.

I'd love to try this again!

My challenge was to tame a pink scorpid.

Im sorry that i cant get pictures. Im only 14 and i dont know how to do it.

Taming it:
I tamed a scorpid bonecrawler in Terokkar forest. I tamed it the regular style: Freezing trap.
After the tame I named it Gohma. Why? Because the name of my favorite video game boss is Gohma.( Its a giant insect boss )

Looks:
Its look was pretty cool. I liked how the face looked on it. ( Can you really call that face? Dont know... )
But I dont liked the colour of it. No fan of pink. Still the black spots on it pretty cool. And as someone
else said it is blue beneath the scales if you look behind it .

Battle:
I do dungeons much so i did a dungeon with it. I thought it would make me die a few times but, it did a pretty good job. Did never take aggro from the tank, did pretty good damage
and the thunderstomp was actually very usefull in this dungeon. ( It was the first Burning Crusade dungeon in Hellfire citadel )
Never did a pvp battle with it. ( Didnt have time )

But in the end, I let it loose. Why? One reason. Battle sounds. Its battle sound is... HORRIBLE! It...it... SQUEKED! ( Dont know how to spell the real word ) I hated it! It was making me crazy!
( And I still heard it even after turning down the volume... Brrr!!! :? )
So I let it loose in the end of the dungeon. But, in the next day, I heard rumors about that people found red orcs cleaved in two.
Gohma... Was it you?

Last part:
I could keep it as a pet if they change their battle sounds. If not, you will never see me with a scorpid again.
Thats all folks. Bye!

But before...
Im up for an another roll!

Lv: 67
Exotics: Sure
Restrictions: NO SCORPIDS! ( Still has nightmares from the sounds... Brrr!!! :? ) And no rhinos, scarabs, beetles or wasp. ( Strangely enough, the sound from the silithids doesnt bother me )

Hmm, that's too bad when pet noises are too much to handle. I'm trying to think of what other pets use those same sounds as a scorpid, but drawing a blank. If anyone can point some out, then Geshou here would know what other pet families to avoid! :)

All members of the silithid families will make those noises so that eliminates Scorpids, Silithids, silithid wasps (I think), and silithid style beetles.

Ah, thanks. I was pretty sure that those noises weren't limited to scorpids. So Geshou, you want to expand your restrictions to include silithids and silithid-style wasps & beetles? I suspect that the scarab beetles might also pose an issue, but that's over a dozen levels away from Linebeck at this point.

All right, time to make my reports, starting with Ruffley's Image.

I forgot to get pics of Ruffley actually taming the little bugger, so the pic of him by her side is included here with the looks.
Image
Ain't he cute? More and more I find myself really liking ravagers and trying to include one on all my hunters. I'm actually surprised at how well the green matches Ruffley.

So anyway, as you can see, this guy is a light, sort of melon green, with black accents, and a dark green and orange carapace (bottom left photo). It's a color scheme that works surprisingly well. Ravagers are probably one of the weirdest looking creatures in WoW, which makes me love them all the more. :D Their legs are very thin and pointy, and where their carapace meets their legs, their body forms an odd, saddle-like shape.

These guys have some wicked looking teeth and this particular skin has a glowing red eye map on it (top right photo). For as mean as these guys look, Scream is surprisingly loving and protective of Ruffley. The only major thing wrong I see with these guys is the really low res 'mane' that runs down their back (bottom right photo).

Animations and Sounds:
Image
To go along with their weird looks, ravagers have equally weird movements and noises. The noise they make when they go into combat is how Scream got his name--it's the closest word I can think of when I hear their combat noise.

I love the way ravagers move, I think it gives them a certain charm. They only have one idle and that's to look side to side fiercely (Tyra Banks would be proud), quills raised (second photo from the right). When they run, they drop that carapace, open their maw, and skitter forth on those spindly legs (first photo on the left). When they swim, they turn themselves on their 'belly', stick their heads out, and use those legs much the way an octopus would (second photo from the left and last photo).

Combat:
Image
The weirdness doesn't stop! When ravagers cast Ravage, they do a little Sonic the Hedgehog-esque flip (top right photo), and then they have two basic attack animations, the bite (bottom left) and the claw (bottom right).

Ravagers' special ability, Ravage, causes their target to take 4% increased physical damage. This is great for any melee heavy groups. It also makes the ravager a great soloing pet, which I think a lot of people underestimate them for because their debuff only effects our autoshots. Ravage will increase all damage done by the ravager, therefore increasing its threat. Next to my crocolisk, my ravager is one of my favorite pets to use for soloing on Yzma (I do take some pleasure in knowing that other people might be grossed out by Yzma's ravager after Kormai pointed out it looks kind of puke green. but I digress).

Ravagers are cunning pets which means that they are about equal to a ferocity pet in damage. Long gone are the days of Ferocity=DPS, Cunning=PvP, and Tenacity=Tank/Solo. :D

Edit: Would also like to mention that the sayings on the last two panels are lyrics taken from Scream by Avenged Sevenfold.

And now Fiona's report on Image.

So funny thing happened with this guy, soon as I tamed him on Fiona, the name Darkrai popped into my head and so he has been dubbed. I just hope Saturo doesn't kill me for naming her character after a dog with some serious visual issues.
Image

Looks:
Image
I personally think that the demon dogs of some of the worst looking pets out there because they have so many flaws, which is a real shame because I really like the colors on this guy and he kind of fits Fiona's theme (top left). It's sort of weird how muscular these guys are and how they don't seem to have fur, despite being called dogs.

Looking at them from the front, they look kind of boxy in the chest area and their face is meh (top right). The other thing that bugs me with them is how big their feet look compared to their body and legs.

Those horns on the top of their head look pretty tacky as well. Their ears also look strange as does their painted on, paper thin mane of hair (bottom left). All in all, a lot of low res texturing. And perhaps one of the goofiest things about these guys is how their hock is terribly skinny compared to the rest of their muscular bodies (bottom right).

Animations and Sounds:
Image
And so here's one of the biggest flaws in the demon dogs--when they go to do their idle, the puppy hop, their faces distort into the ugliest of animations (left). I'm truly baffled as to how Blizzard could let something so gross looking make it through.

At least the demon dog run is really cute to watch (bottom right), and their swim is to be desired since they just walk underwater (top right). As for sounds, these guys make a demonic like growling noise while they're in combat.

Combat:
Image
Since Fiona's pets aren't tamed at level 20 yet (and I'm too lazy to level them myself), I wasn't able to capture an image of Lock Jaw.

Dogs have three basic attack animations, and as you can see, their models do some pretty ugly contortioning. First is the jump and bite (top), the duck and bite (middle), and the paw swipe (bottom).

Dog's special ability, Lock Jaw, is a channeled snare (or is it a root? I get them confused sometimes). Lock Jaw can be useful in both PvE and PvP although it's a burden for BM hunters as Kill Command will override the channel of the ability. Now this doesn't mean I'm saying it's useless or unusuable, I'm just saying that it requires micro-managing and a lot more prep. For MM and SV hunters, while soloing, Lock Jaw will allow you to unload on an enemy without having to worry about it attacking you (providing it's a melee). I'm still not a huge fan of the ability just because it's channeled, but Cialbi made a report on either these guys or a crab that made me rethink the way the ability works. Also, these guys are ferocity pets so that means they'll do great damage while they're not channeling Lock Jaw--which is another thing to keep in mind. If you're actually trying to keep aggro on your pet, the dog will not cast anything else while using Lock Jaw which also means they're not generating threat.

All right, I'm going to request more rolls please. :D I'm also going to implement Cialbi's idea about the rares and include Venjin's rares as options for her to make reports on. :)
