New Non-Pandarian Tameables in Patch 5.1

I would very much appreciate it if we could keep the negativity out of this thread. If you absolutely must voice your discontent over the frankly incredible gifts we're being given this coming patch, then there are other places for it. Please try to avoid raining on others' parades, and remember that you never know who's reading your posts, or who you might be insulting.

While I would like something shiny and new, I'm totally contented to run around and tame these things while I wait.

After reading the last few pages, I have to say something. The thing people need to realize:

We usually don't even get new pets until a new expansion.

This patch, so far, has brought us new color combos of Outland Wind Serpents, a New Jeweled Owl, A new species of Serpent, and a new worm model.

There's multiple other new models or previously unused models I didn't even mention too.

So before you get ungrateful, realize that we would normally have to wait til 6.0 for this many new skins. And blaming the people on the PTR for not finding any new pets in a new patch is ridiculous. They're looking. It appears no new rares were added this patch though.

I agree. I for one am amazed at how many new pets are being added in for patch 5.1 and I can't wait to see what the Spirit Beast will be, whether it's in 5.1 or later. Already I've flown around on the PTR and found the pets I absolutely must tame (4 so far) and even made space for them on Live. This is looking to be a terrific time to be a Hunter.

Notes: Acroniss uses the arcane wyrm model, which, prior to 5.1, was untameable. His skin is also used on the Crazed Mana-Wyrms in The Nexus, but they're inaccessible and therefore untameable, making Acroniss unique. Aggressive; stands (floats?) still above a sigil up on a ledge in the cultist cave.

Spirit of the North

Lv. 70 Serpent

Notes: Not a new creature, but a newly tameable one! These fellows were formerly dragonkin. There are only two of these. They spawn and path in midair, one about 90 yards off the ground and another about 90 above that. The lower one paths in a slightly tighter circle than the higher one. They both move very slowly.

Bad news, Deep Tunneler has been fixed. He is just like any other Jormunger, no longer in the ground. He also looks a little different color, but I am in DW and that messes with lighting.

Just checked on mine: confirmed that he's white now instead of blue. It's actually rather striking, though I'm partial to the blue myself.

It seems so, especially with the 150-some-odd other rares getting added in this patch, not to mention arcane wyrms and Bombyx and who knows what else Noah's been directly working on.

TDT is the only Jormunger out of the rares, but he's definitely still in the Adorable Worm Pantheon that's coming in 5.1. That'll have to be enough. Maybe someday he'll get to be partially buried again.

It would be wonderful if they could do the "full body when moving, half body when stopped" thing, but I imagine it's a bit more work on animations than they have time for for one miscellaneous rare I know the bosses in ToC did it, but they might have had a cheat thing going on to do it, rather than it being a standard animation that they could re-use.

Yup, Acidmaw and Dreadscale cheated! They burrowed to swap places/forms. It would be a LOT of work to get one rare to do that sort of swap without cheating somehow.

After all, if it was that easily done, it would have been done already.
