Although in the picture with Princess, it looks like Ghost got stuck in a watermelon :\
Re: Solaira's Pet Journal
Dear Journal,
I don't think I've mentioned enough how creepy that Light-forsaken bird is. Oh, I have? Really? Okay. Just checking in. Creepy bird. We arrived at Rebel Camp, and were told to take care of Colonel Kruzen, one of the soldiers who went mad. The Rebels fled from his craziness, and I was sent in to check it out. But not before I had to go find Nesingwary.
There is something about the way that bird fights. Ugh. Either way, it keeps the creatures occupied, and with the size of the beasts here, I'm glad Darkrai can prevent them from taking a bite out of me. Still feel uncomfortable leaving him to keep watch when I sleep. Not to mention, been having some weird nightmares.
Also, when I said the creatures here were huge, I wasn't kidding. This is a crocolisk, here. Tried to gnaw my leg off, but Darkrai swooped in and distracted it, so I could leap away and keep my foot.
We went off to kill some tigers, to prove our skills. I feel bad for killing the little tigers, but I guess it's survival of the fittest. If they can't protect themselves from us, they shouldn't live. Right? Or am I getting that wrong? Either way, there was a lot of them, so we're just thinning the numbers. That's...natural predatory activities, or something like that.
After taking care of the tigers, we were off to take care of some panthers. We came across this fairly old panther resting in the sun, and Darkrai looked eager to kill it, but I told him not to hurt it. The large cat looked at me, and I heard...something. A whisper. The cat spoke to me. He said, and I quote, "I have felt the bond of hunter and beast once. She released me to be with my kind again, and I am forever grateful for it. Will you, huntress, listen to your companion's call when they wish to be free?"
It was something to think about.
Either way, after listening to the ancient cat's words, we came across this huge beast. It was a giant gorilla, the powers of earth coursing around it. Darkrai looked pretty eager to kill it, so he and I made fairly quick work of the spirit. It should, hopefully, reemerge soon. And maybe it will learn how to defend itself better. I don't know.
We took care of more panthers, and then went to deal with the men of Kruzen's Camp. Darkrai and I will storm the camp tomorrow. For now, Darkrai wants to sleep. Guess he worn himself out with all the killing. More after the attack.
((Kurzen was heavily occupied. :p
Also, the panther is a reference to myself, actually. Way back in Vanilla, Fire tamed a panther, a young one, because I could never find the older panthers. So I chose a younger one. I got released him way back in Outlands, when I realized he was rotting in the stables. So, ICly, he now lives in Stranglethorn.))

Anyway, fun to read as always Azu. I remembered the panther from when you introduced him briefly in TotH so I was like, D'aww when you brought him in here. ^_^

And yeah, Kam. These really are fun! I'm techincally "doing it wrong", but that's fine by me. (You're supposed to switch pets every five levels, I decided since I have heirloom and moved too fast, I would go every zone. I much prefer that method, allows me to move fast and see all of the zone.)

Re: Solaira's Pet Journal
Remember how Shadwyn was missing? They found her! She finally came into town, starved and looked worn down. She had a lot of claw marks, one of her ears ripped, and she flopped over as soon as she entered the town, but they're working on helping her. A messenger ran her over to Raven watch, where the worgen there could help her and bless her, to prevent undeath. She's taking a liking to Jitters, maybe she'll help him when she gets better.
Of course, I couldn't go visit because Darkrai and I had our work cut out for us. The Kurzen were definitely out to play, and we stole their records and went about killing them for their "Jungle Remedies." Darkrai, being Darkrai, took to this work with great joy.
We also saw this really small lizard. Darkrai wanted to eat it. We finished our killings, when Darkrai noticed a small raptor hatchling. Instead of killing it, he got my attention and we kept her along for company. We named her Speck, cause she's so tiny.
Darkrai really likes her, they were playing tag earlier. But we had to move on, so the three of us, Darkrai, Speck and I resumed our slaughter of tigers. Tigers were still easy enough to kill. Darkrai flew just out of their reach, I peppered them with arrows, and even Speck helped! She gnawed their tails. She carried one around for a while as a chew toy, just chomping down on that tail. If she dropped it, Darkrai flew to pick it up and give it to her. Huh. So Darkrai likes Speck, and tolerates me. Yet I feed Darkrai.
That bird is so weird.
We then went to kill goblins. I had heard about them from Dad's journal, how there are some good ones and bad ones. Well, good and bad is relative, according to him. You have the "Good Goblins" who'd rather kill your money then you, and the "Bad Goblins", who just want to kill you.
Either way, they weren't hard to kill. The three of us took care of them, easy. We came across this huge crocolisk, and Speck ran up to say hi. The Water Spirit then tried to attack Speck, but Darkrai swooped in like a black feathered arrow and slashed the crocolisk on the face! Speck retreated to my side, and Darkrai finished the crocolisk with a vengeance.
Either way, her hide made a nice cloak, and a blanket for Speck. The three of us went off to find Speck food, and collect some basilisk samples. While we were there, we freed some Kurzen rebels. I think Speck grew bigger, too.
((Continued in next post.))
Re: Solaira's Pet Journal
While we were exploring, we came across more murlocs! Oh, fel! It never ends!
We killed five huge male tigers, but we weren't through yet. One more to kill. Sin'Dall. I felt bad for slaying the huge feline, but one of her children should take her place. So, it's not all bad. Besides, she wouldn't spare me.
We killed some panthers and raptors. Speck seemed confused by the raptors, looking from them, to herself, to Darkrai, head tilted. She finally took one of the shiny beads off the raptor and offered it to Darkrai, who accepted it. She then took a feather and gave it to me. I tucked it behind my ear. Speck, pleased her gifts were accepted, ran around.
We went to kill some trolls and collect lore, and Speck found a skull. She really, really liked it, abandoning her tiger tail. She even refused to let Darkrai have it! She gave a squeaky growl when I tried to take it, so I let her hold onto the skull for now. She only puts it down to eat and sleep. And even then she curls around it.
We were back to Kurzen when we saw that huge monkey. Remembering a hunter at Rebel Camp had talked about wanting him as a companion, I sent Darkrai to hurry and tell him to come. The hunter did, and immediately began the ritual to soothe the beast. After a few moments, the gorilla thudded to his side.
((Wave hi to the Petopians out there, Beastmasterx, if you're on the forums and read this.

Once the hunter and his companion left, Darkrai, Speck and I returned to our mission, Kurzen's Compound. It was grisly, but we fought our way through and found two out of the four chiefs. One dropped a strange blue stone that kept whispering incoherent things. Neither Speck nor Darkrai liked it.
We found the last chief. He made a brave stand, but was no match for the three of us. Speck has been using her claws to slice him, and the skull as a bludgeoning tool.
The gnome wanted to try some magic on the skull, and I reluctantly let him. He told me to go hunt down some fetishes for magic. Speck ran around, nosing in the dirt and digging up fetishes. Once she found them, she handed them to me.
We took care of some shamans, too. Then, we had to kill some water elementals. They were kind of neat. First time I'd ever seen an elemental like that. Who knew elements could condense and kill things? I wonder if you could take a bath in a water elemental. Speck tried to drink one. At most, she ended up washing Mr. Skull. That's what we call her toy.
Once we finished with the elementals, we had to, yeah. You know. KILL. MURLOCS.
We took care of Naias, a bigger elemental, easily enough. Speck, Darkrai and I went off to kill some crocolisks for their skins. Then, more raptors and panthers. We had to find Bhag'thera and take his fang, but he was elusive. Once Bhag'thera died, we found and killed Tethis, and took his talon.
We were sent to retrieve some Bloodscalp relics, as well. Tsul'kalu, the Earth Spirit. Mahamba the Water Spirit. Pogeyan the Fire Spirit (Or maybe air.) Huh. I killed the water and earth spirit. Hm. Then we took out a fair amount of trolls. We returned to the Rebel Camp, taking the Bloodscalp chief's body to the gnome. He got ready to cast his spell, eager to see his troll.
((Next post. Blargle.))
Re: Solaira's Pet Journal
Dear Journal,
SPECK!
The troll he ressurected was Bloodlord Mandokir, an old troll that lived in Zul'gurub. He was killed, but the stupid gnome brought him back! So he made me give Speck to him. I didn't want too, but he took her and ran.
Darkrai was infuriated. He gave a scream of anger and pain, upset the Bloodlord took his friend. We'll get her back. Even if it kills us. Speck will be freed.
After I kill that gnome. All he cared about was the Bloodlord was back. Nevermind what he was doing to poor Speck. Brave little raptor...
We talked to a priestess, who called her "Oghan'aka, daughter of Oghan." Whatever he calls her, she's still Speck to me. Of course, though, we had other things to do. Figures. We went to kill a really big cat. It was said the King used to be bigger and stronger, but he didn't seem such. Maybe it was a child of the King? Prince? I don't know.
We killed raptors for their feathers, so we could contact Speck. They only cared about the Bloodlord, but if it came between saving Speck and killing him, Darkrai and I would rather save Speck. He tears things apart without his pleased air. More of a grim determination to destroy every little thing that stands between us and her. I know how he feels. I've lost plenty already. I don't want to add her name to the list.
We also saw some ogres and killed them. All too familiar with their smell, yuck.
We saw through Speck's eyes, and I got a good look around. Odds aren't good. The creatures there are immensely powerful, more than Darkrai and I. Doesn't matter. We'll figure something out.
He told Speck to forget us, but she won't. I know that. We were ready to finish what we started. We went to kill Skullsplitters to steal brains and extinguish braziers.
We finished, and got ready to free Speck. The Priestess called her Solaira'aka. The ritual began, and I found myself controlling Speck. The raptors were glad to help us escape. The understood the bond between family. Raptors live in packs, after all.
We were about to be freed when some troll found us! A shade of the Hexxer. He called the Bloodlord, and they took Speck and chased me away. They're going to hurt her! New cages, new methods to hurt her...
I'd like to see them try. I asked Darkrai to watch over her and do what he can to protect her. With a scream of warning to anyone who dared hurt the raptor, he took off into the skies.
I'm going to miss that bird.
As I was leaving, the ancient panther came with a cub. He asked me to watch the young panther, teach it to survive. I agreed, and he said that its mother refused to give it a name, for the kit was crippled when young. She survived, but was only given a number, a guess on how long she would last. Seventeen days. Seventeen.

Re: Solaira's Pet Journal
But I felt sort of "Meh." Darkrai has probably been my favorite so far. He started off as a creepy little bird to a very protective, caring sort of character. I felt he had amazing development along the storylines with Speck, and who better for the raptor to be?
So I went for a panther, kind of salute to Midnight. And that's when it hit me I could tie in Midnight further, and earn my kitty a name. So I had Seventeen.
I think these three entries so far, (Except maybe the Fall of the Bravo Company.) are my favorite.

Fun read as always, Azu. ^_^
And yeah, Darkrai's development here was awesome to watch (I don't read the Poke RPs so I know very little about the characters there. >_>), and your descriptions of little Speck kept making me smile.

He'd probably say he was just helping Speck cause he got to inflict nightmares on people. Totally. Yeah. >.> And Speck has jokes. Lots of jokes. Horrible jokes.

Re: Solaira's Pet Journal
No word from Darkrai. Still, if anyone is capable of the job, he is. Between you and me, Darkrai could beat Ghost in a fight, easy. And Ghost is tough. Speaking of, nothing from Ghost either. I haven't really seen her, still a bit shaken up by her aggression to Shad and I.
Seventeen and I were sent down to the Explorer League's Digsite. They were kind of loopy down there. 'Least the gnome and one of the dwarves. We were sent to kill some basilisks. I figured out why Seventeen was "crippled". According to her, when she was kitten, she strayed too far. A tiger jumped her and mauled her, but she was saved. Her ears are torn to shreds, one is useless, the other barely works. That's okay, though. I can help her, and she makes up for it in savagery and loyalty.
...HOLY FEL. IT'S HUGE.
Seven and I went in to take it out. It was, thankfully, easily to take care of. The basilisks kept crying when we killed them. ((I had 13 Gluey Basilisk tears. Huh.)) We returned to report our basilisk killed success, and then was ambushed by some dwarf who appeared out of nowhere, hopped on top of Zerak's neck and whispered in my ear.
This place is creepy.
I went to collect water, and stopped with Seven to look at the water. It's kind of nice, really.
We also pried akiris reeds off the nagas' tridents, and collected their icons. Because...uh...stealing can be fun. We took some of their really clean water, and finished taking their reeds. I met this pirate that was a jerk, too. Seventeen growled at him, and he just laughed. So she gave him a nice scar he won't forget.
We killed some big cats, and then went to see the tigers and kill them. Seventeen was real eager to tear them a new one, and I don't blame her.
I was sent to give a gift to Maywiki, a sad troll. Turns out she wanted to speak to me. The Gurubashi trolls were all gone, and the Zandalar had fallen as well. I don't know about her, but I saw a lot of trolls. And I didn't want anything to do with anymore trolls, not after what their kind did to Speck. Trolls and black dragons. Hate 'em both.
Still. We had to do what we had too, and we took some elixirs and place the incense. There was a mishmash of ghouls, trolls, and naga whose minds were shattered. The bat spirit aided me, and we watched.
And saw Him. The Hexxer that prevented Speck's escape! They were planning something about bringing the dead back, and it made me nervous. I hopped onto Zerak's back and we rushed to Maywiki.
We were told that we'd have to go in and take out the Outcast before he could aid them. That sounded perfectly alright to me. He was gone by then, but Seventeen and I decided it for the best to go in.
Following the path from Speck's mind, I forgot my mission to look for her. It was strangely empty, but I pressed on, hurrying.
Nothing.
I couldn't find her, maybe the troll was keeping her hidden elsewhere. I heard Darkrai from a distance, but I also remembered I had a misson. Frustrated, I left where Speck had been, to finish off the bat priestess in order to prevent their uprising.
She fell easily enough, so we only had one more to go. The Snake Priest. Determined to get as much vengeance as I could, Seventeen and I moved in.
We took care of him, and Zanzil looked miserable, when the Hexxer walked in. It looked grim, and he held Seventeen trapped and I under a spell. He got ready to finish me off, when one of the Explorers, Bronwyn Hewstrike came to our rescue. Maywiki looked proud of us, and I was feeling good, if a bit shaky. We set them back. They'd regret they ever crossed me and my companions.
I think I'm going to get sleep. That magic didn't make me feel good.
