I think they are gorgeous. I love pale colours and this little wolf is just beautiful.

I camped Skoll for a week, and when I tamed her it was awesome. She is special to me and always will be, Just like Loque'nahak. But this new wolf, if he stays tameable, will be coming home with us too.

Skarr is one of my most treasured pets, as well. And I love to green gem cat. What's the difference?... I just don't understand why some people get so upset when something "rare" becomes more easily obtainable, when it isn't even the same wolf, or even a spirit beast for the matter.

I'm not trying to rile anyone, I'm honest-to-goodness clueless about why..>:

I like that. They're searching for enlightenment! ;)
As a random aside that just occured to me, (pet head canon if anyone wants it), if anyone has Skoll tamed but spends most of their time in MM or SV, you could tame one of these wolves and call it the same name as your Skoll and just pretend it's not at full power so you could enjoy your pet while not in BM.
That is a pretty neat idea! You could also do the same thing with Olm / Ban'Thalos and Ghostsaber / Loque if you wanted. :)

@Tygard - it's a fair question; for at least one component of the answer to your question, scroll up to my post on effort / reward.

Raiden (Skoll) is my favorite spirit beast both personality and appearance wise. I also am a full time raider and because of BM being so far behind I spend 99% of my time as survival spec. If MoP does not beef up BM then I will be spending yet another expansion with him always parked in my stable. Personally, I LOVE your idea so that I can still have him around even when raiding.

I think, any arguments over Spirit Beast Special aside, that the wolf is absolutely gorgeous. I've always loved that skin, and most likely Rue and Luna, my pair of saber worgs, will be getting a sister, named something nice and simple like Storm or Tempest ;) And if anyone asks, I'll say I took a regular grey worg and rubbed it with a balloon and made it all static-y.

Getting back to the wolves themselves....

Image

Some of them are napping! Sorry I couldn't get any closer; I was a little gunshy after a bunch of them ran me over and ZAPPED ME TO DEATH with their lightning-thunder.

Image

Yeah, these guys. Plus the couple that I'd already pulled before that.

When they aren't melting your face, though, they're rather cute. :)

Ooh, and I just found a scattered few of them drinking at the river. :D

They look pretty cool running in the pack and the drinking one looks like he's yelling at the fish!

The wolves drinking are jerks. They attack Crocolisk and Saurok (My favorite Pandaria Race) for no reason whatsoever. In fact, I saw one chase a Crocolisk out of the water just by zapping it with a lightning spell!

I wonder if they electrocute everything in the water when they drink. x)

This made me laugh! It's like those wolf packs in the Twilight Highlands. So many times I've been happily snapping away screenshots and the sneak up on me and I'm dead. Vicious things they are!

That actually happened with the one I snapped drinking. I didn't camo the first time, so I was all zoomed in and alt-Zed and OHGODHETURNEDANDISCHARGINGME.

Personally I think using the other skin is great. Its sad to let all these nice skins go to waste otherwise.

The arguments are kinda old about this by now. Since when did it matter what the rest of the wow community had? All that matters is what you choose to have in your stable, and those are the pets that are important/special to you. Its a style and flavor choice- so the more choices for people to pick from definitely the better.

A little annoyed that a spirit beast skin is put on a plain ol' wolf but I'm not gonna get my panties in a twist about it. *shrug*

I don't have the energy--or the attention span--to stay irritated about it forever. I'm actually more distressed that many think that because I was irritated by it, somehow I care for my original less? I dunno...I don't understand that viewpoint any better than the ones holding that viewpoint understand mine, it seems. But in the end, it's not the same skin as Skoll's.

A little more on-topic...it's good to see the Cata-instated custom of wandering wolf murder-packs continues...and by 'good,' I mean 'I'll do my best not to land anywhere in the area until I get an idea of where said murder-packs path.'

I also admit I got a giggle out of the mental picture from static-worg.

I really am liking the flavor one these wolves just chilling around. They seem awfully lifelike, which is a nice change from static meandering around in a small area. Plus, SV or MM hunters finally get a nifty, incredibly badass skin. What I wish they'd do is try to fit this skin though on other worg or coyote models. I'm really not a fan of saber worg, but maybe I could give it a shot.

And I think it's destined to remain thus, to a large extent - outside of a few fence-sitters in the middle, people who think that everything should be available to everybody, don't understand why others would object, just like players who think reward should be related to effort, don't understand why others would object to *their* view - it's a fundamental rift.

Blizz has improved at least some of its wild wandering beast pathings in every expansion since Northrend (King Krush trumps Mosh for me in that his paths are far more epic), which has been wonderful. We keep seeing more natural interactions between different animal groups (those poor gazelles), which makes everything feel more realistic.
