Best bet seems to be The Storm Peaks or Zul'Drak. Try looks up some of the beasts listed in my search results, and see if they are in viable areas for you.

I am guessing that once you hit 80 and quit getting XP from gathering... then your pet gets none too. I am curious if the hunters under L.80 is what is causing this pet XP from gathering to happen...

I've got 3 80 hunter-herbalists. Lyrothea on Suramar is the above mentioned who's definitely getting, and after this instance finishes I'll go check the other two and see what's going on with them.

Also, tell us where you are herbing at... maybe it is just one zone, or maybe it is just herbing... but my BOAR ON FIRE didn't get any XP from mining in Storm Peaks and I was so hoping he would...

As I said earlier, Storm Peaks and Icecrown, also any 5 mans with decent herbs in them. HUP with the herbs along the left RIGHT side near zone in, then along the Skadi run was consistent.

Lyrothea with her new green birdie Verdanis is still getting from herbing, just checked, clearly a healthy visible chunk from Icethorn in the hills near Snarlwhatever for the early K3 quests. Sunhawke with her untouched tame Zurui the fox got her first exp on lichbloom just past the Argents in Icecrown. Davarra's 78 corehound Snow got from a yellow con frozen herb roughly around Zim'Torga (yeah, I'm casually looking for Gondria on her).

I don't like doing instances, sorry, and I do not raid, and this *is* annoying; I'd wanted to level most of my mass taming at level 80 by Tuesday, and Vanyel was the last to go.

That was my thought with a blue mage hunter, I ended up rethinking it, and ditched the 77 and walked into heroic violet hold, went off to the left a little bit and trap tamed a lvl 80 blue mage hunter in there.

It still looks like the best way to level your pet now is farm meat. Go farm rhinos or gorillas or the other white meat of your choosing.

Tournament dailies, as same as ANY Northrend dailies or just plain run'n'kill lvl 79-80 mobs with your lvl77 pet not working anymore.

Full clean of:
Deathspeaker's Watch x3
The Valley of Fallen Heroes x2
Savage Ledge x3

Plus 3 quests from Shadow Vault, 8 from Tournament and some (20 min long) aside killings.
That's what my boar got at the ens of it...

How come? Mobs in basin r lower than in IC.
And if even IC run with total killing of everything whats moving couldn't push lvl-up further than one bubble...

OK, I take back what I said.

Pet leveling is impossible to do if you are lvl 80. It's back to pre-wrath mindless grinding. They nerfed it again (or the rolling hotfix this morning screwed things more).

This is really lame of Blizz. Give us 25 slots, and make it near impossible to level the pets.

Of course, I also clearly understand this is due to all the folks who want to cheat the system and lvl to 85 in Northrend.

But it still stinks. 10+ pets that I won't touch because leveling is impossible, and you won't be able to level them all with you in Cata.

Relax. If Blizzard wanted to nerf pet XP, I highly doubt they'd nerf it quite this much. It's just a bug, someone put a decimal in the wrong place, blah blah blah.

Is this where I put on my old man pants and talk about levelling a pet from lvl 9 to 60 in the old classic days, without the new fangled random dungeon system and needing to farm non-grey mobs until my bags were full of runecloth?

But I liked soloing 100+ mobs with my pet on Passive in Winterspring at lvl 60 to get my brand new ghost kitty to the same lvl as me, while also taming low lvl beasts with the Rank of Claw that I needed because I already had max Rank Bite and wanted my kitty to have both Claw and Bite even tho I knew I would have to drop Sprint (or was it Prowl...) because the only skills ur pet could use at the time were the ones on its bar and Rake was a must and.............................. I'm ok with the instance pet EXP nerf.

wow, its not just dungeon exp, but reg mob exp too. used to just take about 30-40 mins to lvl a pet on the packs of 7 converted heros in icecrown. taken me 45mins to get half way from 77 to 78....
