And then realised it was a red. I already have a red.

Hmm, after helping hunters tame Krush and Terrorpene, I went to check Uldum for black Madexx, hoping my luck would pay off. After all, I'm sure I've got a ton of karma headed my way! Lol. Get over there, do a circle and THERE HE IS!... In blue. Damn. I already have him, in brown,only went there to check for the black, but... I jsut HAD to tame him. Again. So I got the blue. Whispered the two other hunters in Uldum with his and Terrorpene's timers. One thanked me for the info, the other told me that he really doesn't want another pet aside from his beloved spider. We had a nice little chat about our favorite pets. He and his spider have been through a lot together!

<looks at her blue scorpid> Why can't you be black? <sigh> Oh well, y- OH MY GAWD.... You're so pretty girl, and you match my hunter so -well-.... I'm going to keep you, at least until I find black version. It seems Salim has a girlfriend. They're already giving each other googly eyes. Now she just needs a name...

Okay, maybe I'm weird, or maybe I finally chilled out. Here is my story.

When I first began looking at Madexx, I decided my three favorite colors were bronze, black, and green. I begin my camp. A week into it, and after Blooddsurge helped me out and gave me spawn times (<3), I was flying around with Bloodd and Phyra when bronze appeared in front of me. In a shaky, stupid panic, I dropped down, tagged/trapped/tamed. Done. I was SO EXCITED that I got him!

Then it wasn't but a couple days later that I decided I absolutely must have green! Green is so perfect with me. I have green hair, a green proto-drake, scads of other green pets, a green raptor hatchling, etc. Green is my favorite color in the world. I NEED green like I need air to breathe.

So, back to Uldum I went with fruitless searches. Last Saturday, I resolved to sit in my chair all day if need be until Madexx spawned. From 1:00 p.m. or so to 4:28 p.m. I circled diligently, eyes ever peeled. Why 4:28? Because I heard NPC Scan's drums go off and I nearly pooped myself. Could it be? Could it be my beloved green?! No. No, it's a black Madexx. I tag and trap it, and begin looking for a friend that wanted Madexx of any color. She had logged onto her alt. Crap! What was her alt's name again? I type it in, and she's not on. I type in her main's name, she's not on. I was doing a tame/cancel tame thing to hopefully deter passers-by from dropping down to kill it. Oh crap, as I'm looking at my /who list, I realize I actually tamed it when I wasn't really meaning to. Like, it actually took a moment to register why he had suddenly shrunk. Aw, crap. Well, I'm now the accidental owner of a black Madexx. I then realize to my utter shock and horror, that I had typed my friend's alt's name WRONG. OMG, I left out an "s"? She was online this whole time? Mother bleepty-bleepity-bleep! What's worse is that I had added her to my friends list earlier. All I had to do was pull it up and there she would have been. But noooo, in my moment of derp, I decided to not only type her name, but type it incorrectly. Brilliant, Rhyela, just...brilliant. Annoyed and thoroughly disappointed with myself, I fly back to Ramkahen and toss Mr. Black Madexx in the stable with a huff.

First I tell Blooddsurge what happened, and he reassured me that things happen for a reason, and not to worry about it. He's a great guy, seriously. Couldn't have done any of this without his help. ^.^ Then, I fess up to "N", the friend who wanted any color of Madexx. Thankfully, she, too, is awesome, and she said it wasn't a problem. She probably wouldn't have made it there in time, anyway, she said. Well, I'd have done everything I could to make sure she got it. But, she said she'd come back in six hours to check again. I told her I'd stay out of Uldum and let her have this camp to herself. If a green one spawned, she could have it even though it was my favorite. I wasn't about to let her leave Uldum empty-handed AGAIN.

Then, a feeling of dread creeps in. What if....what if the unthinkable happens a green Madexx spawns for her? That would be my freaking luck. And that would be what I deserved for flubbing up and mis-typing her name. That black Madexx should have been hers! I start to panic. I know that life has a funny way of giving me the finger when it comes to things like this, so I log off for the night. I didn't even want to know what happened. I ask N to tell me a timer if she did manage to get him, but leave the color out. I said I'd come back on around 4:00 a.m. to check on her and pick up camping where she left off.

I slept from about 11:40 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., and logged back on. No one was on. I stay in Uldum from 3:30 to 10:00 a.m. Sunday, with no Madexx in sight. Utterly and completely exhausted, I log off and go to bed. Slept from 10:00 a.m. to about 12:00 p.m. and tried to log on again. Oh, eff me, the authentication server is jacked? /sigh. So, I take a shower (much needed by this point) and go to lunch with my husband. I come back at about 4:00 or so, and find out Blooddsurge logged on around 12:00 or so (he was able to get in eventually) without seeing anything. Crap! We must have missed him in those two hours. /sigh. Well, surely he'll spawn sometime this evening, right?

I'm sick of the desert at this point so I decide to do a dungeon with my guild. We finish with that, then my guildy asks me what my ilevel is, so I tell him it's 328 (one point too low for heroics, doh!). He told me to get some PvP bracers. So, we queue for some random BG's. Failwhaled of course, good ol' Alliance. Well, I was sucking too, I admit. Been quite some time since I PvP'd and had forgotten where things like Wing Clip, Disengage, etc. were at on my bars. Anyhoo, get into an AB and N and I start talking. I ask her how the Madexx search went and she says she found him at 10:18 p.m. or so Saturday night, less than six hours after I got the black one. Hmm, wow. That was...unexpected. I didn't actually think he could spawn that soon. Then I ask the million-dollar question....what color was he? Silence for a moment. "Green," she replied. *@#^%!!!!!! I KNEW this would happen! I just knew green would spawn the ONE night I decided not to camp. OMG! I was literally sick. I had no ill will towards her of course, I wanted her to get Madexx, she had been searching for a long while. But seriously, green? She wanted any color and the WoW gods give her green? MY color? I was so upset, I felt like I could cry. It was all my fault after all. I mis-typed her name earlier. Should have been her with black and me with green!

After a few minutes I calmed down and asked if I could look at him, so she told me to meet her in SB (she's camping for KK, god love her ). I arrive and check him out and OH MY GOSH he is gorgeous! So lovely, so....green. <3 Then she tells me she actually wanted green first, too. Well, that really made me feel so much better! I was suddenly very happy she got green, because I knew being a color she wanted, she'd take good care of him. Then I let her look at black, and she said she actually didn't like it so well. Whereas I, on the other hand, thought black looked pretty spiffy. Okay, so maybe this worked out okay after all. But I still want green, darn it!!! I mean, LOOK AT THAT GREEN!

Today, Monday, I went out of town with my family for the day. I came back home around 7:00 p.m. and logged on. Blooddsurge was on, so we're chatting it up a bit. He told me that earlier at school he had this odd feeling that Madexx spawned around 1:30 p.m. today and that we should check again in six hours. I admitted that I had a strange feeling he was going to spawn as well. So we're flying around when suddenly, bronze Madexx appears in front of me. OMG BLOODD HE'S HERE!!! HE'S BRONZE DO YOU WANT HIM?!?!?!? (yes I really was spazzing out) He's all "WHERE WHERE?!" He finallly finds me, looks at this enormous bronze Madexx in an ice trap, and asks me if he should tame him. Well, dude, you've been out here how long now, and haven't gotten Madexx yet? Like three weeks? Yeah, tame him. You never know, you might like him! Well, after realizing I still had threat and had to FD, and that his tame got messed up somehow so he had to call a pet and dismiss it before it would work, he finally tamed bronze. Right as the tame finished, I see a purple Nether Ray mount fly by. Hey, that's the one N rides, is that her? Yep, it sure is! She must have had NPC Scan going off!

N lands and congratulates Bloodd and all that, and they're both sitting there with their Madexxes - he with brown and she with green. I realize this would be a great time to get some pics of all of us together with our Madexxes. I go to my stable and look at my bronze and black, and grab...black. I fly back and we're snapping pics, and I begin to feel an appreciation and fondness for my black one. I can't quite put my finger on it, but he has this feeling about him that he's *my* Madexx. What the heck kind of feeling is this? He's not even green! Bah, perish the thought! But seeing the three grouped together - N's green, Bloodd's bronze, and my black - I start to appreciate how we all have different Madexxes. Each color is so beautiful in its own way. And I start to notice my black guy has a very "emo" personality about him. N's green Madexx is crazy-happy or something. He's constantly waving those big claws in the air, like he's just bursting with energy. The bronze one was almost just as bad. But my little black Madexx just sat there, like "......", like he's totally unamused by our craziness and maybe even a bit embarrassed. I know it sounds weird, but I LOVE that. He has this personality about him and it's just so cute! Like he's just so serious, but I know he's a silly scorpid. He waves those claws in the air when he thinks I'm not looking. :3

So, strangely enough, I'm becoming quite enamored with my black Madexx (named Ebonslash, might re-name, not sure). Bronze was the first one I tamed, but it didn't click. Don't get me wrong, I liked him at first and was happy, but we just didn't bond. Green was the apple of my eye, or so I thought. I'd have given a kidney for green. But black, my little accidental tame, the one I tossed in the stable right after taming because I was so frustrated with myself (and therefore frustrated with him), that I didn't even take the time to appreciate him for who he was, is growing on me. I think his color is amazing. It doesn't match my hunter at all - black and red? But...I suddenly don't really care about that anymore. That song from Shrek, "Accidentally in Love", comes to mind when I think about him, and it makes me love him all the more. (continued in another post......)

What's also kinda neat is that of the Madexxes I've seen and tamed (three seen, two tamed), he's the only one I found all by myself. So, I think Blooddsurge was right, though I dared not believe it back then....maybe me getting black really was meant to be. It took some time to see through my veil of frustration and QQness, but Blooddsurge getting his tonight, and the subsequent picture-party afterward, really opened my eyes to what I already had sitting right there in my stable, rather than obsessing over what I didn't have.

So, cute little black Madexx, you unexpectedly clawed your way into my heart tonight. Well played, my good sir, well played indeed.

I might still tame green if I see it just because it's such a beautiful color. Maybe. I'm starting to think I might release bronze and just keep black. I think the black one was meant for me. Didn't realize it at the time, but I'm definitely feeling it now.

Sorry for the long story, I just had to share what happened. Moral of the story, I suppose, is don't immediately reject or pass up a color you think you might not like. Give it a chance, it might surprise you.

ARGHHHH!!! After camping for near 14 hours now, he finally spawned right beneath me. Sadly enough, he was blue again! I think the WoW gods are telling me they want me to have a blue pet...

I tried saving the mob for my friend who was also patrolling, by throwing a frost trap down and tagging the mob. But something must have gone wrong because as the frost trap broke, I somehow lost aggro and some Goblin that had landed to watch quickly grabbed it for a tame. My friend showed up too late and the other player left us both standing there in exasperation.

Guess it's back to the endless patrolling tomorrow after the servers come back up and the respawn timers reset.

This is by far, the worst camp I've ever had to endure. Not only is the respawn timer extraneously long, but the chances of getting the color you seek are low enough to drive one insane with boredom. I'm going to be happy when I'm done with this camp.

Over 25hrs since I last tamed Madexx, still no sign of him...

Green needs to spawn already for me.. This is one of the worst camps ever.

Worst camp ever for me? Not yet. Aotona took 7 weeks of nonstop (evening) circling the Basin til it showed up. Every evening... I did not do anything other than circle... and then circle again... and then circle again...

King Krush took me 12-13 days, and it would have taken longer if another hunter hadn't seen him spawn and wanted my 20 stacks of Saronite ore I was offering...

My Madexx "camping" has been about 3 weeks of some nights logging in and circling til it was bedtime, and other nights just logging in for 40min at a time and circling. Seen him dead about 10 times, and I have tamed the brown version just because I could not miss the opportunity to at least have him. ...but gosh darnit... I want the green... so I have been continuing the camp.

Guess it's back to the endless patrolling tomorrow after the servers come back up and the respawn timers reset.

From what I have seen (my own experiences) and read here in these forums... when a realm is restarted/reset it does NOT reset the spawn timers... it just seems that way. But who really knows.

Argh, currently I have brown, green and blue Madexx while patiently waiting for a black one. But I have a feeling I won't get to find a black one until I see a red one first or other ones I already have.

Are some of you guys planning to get all 5 and keep them? I'm not sure what to do since having all spirit beasts, jadefang, old ghost wolf and other rares mean I am already running out of slots.

I don't plan on camping anymore for Madexx myself. 2+ weeks was more than enough. I flew through his spawns today on my way to fish for Fathom Eels just for the heck of it and saw no less than five hunters hovering, heh. Blue is my favorite color and a small part of me hopes to stumble across it some day, but for now my pretty green Nanda is more than enough for me. :3 Plus he has Mercury (duneclaw broodlord skin) to keep him company.

That's a bit funny, black spawned a few times in a row on FM. Oh RNG. I am glad only ONE rare does this multi colored thing and why do I find myself wanting Jadefang's minipet or a Terrorpene? AGH. No, bad Novi. BAD! Regardless, I'm glad things worked out for Rhyela so far and should she want a greenie again I hope he appears.

I do like my black and green Madexxes too. Grimm the black is great for pvp and his red highlights are very neat. A few horde seemed to like 'im. I'll probably keep my gaggle of bugs.

So does anyone know how respawn timers work regarding rolling server restarts, like the ones we had this morning? Does it completely reset or could he spawn immediately after the restart?

UGH!!! Found him yet again only a few minutes ago. It was the Black skin but a Blood Elf Mage was killing him as I flew over and my NPCScan went off... I'm so upset. I could've tamed that one...

Oh well... at least we now know it's not a 24 hour respawn. It's more like a 12+ hour one. Now I gotta go clear my cache and after that I guess I'll go try and begrudgingly enjoy my day... *grumble grumble*
