As a straight woman, it always seemed obvious to me. :P And yet I never cared. I played a female Draenei character for a long time and the only thing that really concerns me about the posture is the positioning of the shoulders, since it can make pauldrons look quite strange sometimes, but I'm sure that's already been mentioned.

I would personally prefer a different pose for the new model but I'm certainly not going to throw my arms up in a hissy fit if they don't. Basically, I don't mind either way, but as someone mentioned, it's fun to watch people try to find justifiable reasons as to why the pose is the way it is. And I also would like to see the foot-fluff return, I'm sure the new model isn't 100% done but... the foot-fluff!

That's why I didn't like their posture. Not only was it to sexualize a female character(don't we get that enough?), it just made ALL shoulders look weird on them and often they were overlapping in the back.

Is it me or have all the female models gotten a breast reduction??? Or is it that their bodies are just properly proportioned?

I love they're more beefy.

Thiisssssss I cannot express how happy I am to see more beefy females! They tote around ridiculous amounts of plate armor just like the guys- and have you SEEN how insanely huge swords are in the hands of female humans? It's insane! They should be built like the Hulk, not spindly little things.

I'm really loving the defined muscles on the females, for that reason. Plus, there doesn't appear to be any lore-set gender discrimination in most* races. Sure, the writers aren't good at portraying that, but lore-wise, just as many women would be warriors as men. So it always threw me off to see big beefcake men and then these tiny, spindly women- in Azeroth, there really shouldn't be any difference. (Clearly, some people would be less muscular due to profession and all that, but still.)

*Some race groups such as specific troll tribes are still struggling with this.

Haha, yes :) If they beefed up the males it would just seem wrong. I like that they're kind of androgynous in appearance as it provides variety, even if they aren't a race that personally appeals.

I actually really like the draenei models as they are. Both do seem more sexualized in shape, but in a way that seems a lot more exotic than other races. You can (or at least I can) really see how they spawned a race of naughty demons. I think that was the intent with the design, and I really enjoy it. To me, at least, it just doesn't feel too tacky.

there's nothing "girly" about them (mildly offensive, BTW).

they are decently muscled, and rather well-proportioned.

as someone who almost only plays B.Elf characters, in a guild where most members play B.Elf characters, I hope they just smooth out some of the textures for our race, and maybe let the females eat a sandwich or two.

While I'm sure Cow was just mucking around, I've never actually understood where everyone gets the impression that B'elf men are 'girly' from. They're quite beefy, have a very 'masculine' posture (for lack of a better word, it's late) and they don't look in the slightest bit feminine to me, yet everyone jokes about it. o.O The only thing that I might consider girly about them is their dance...

On the topic of B'elves though, and based on recent impressions I got from other updated female models, I feel like for the female B'elves they might give them a little more muscle tone. Or maybe not, given that they are the token 'girly-girls' of all the females. *shrug* As long as they get a decent texture update, I'm honestly not fussed. B'elves already looked fine as is.

maybe we could cut out the low-fat cottage cheese in the B.Elf females' diet?
let 'em have a piece of genuine Thunderbluff cheesecake every once in a while? I hear Grandma Mistrunner makes an amazing Thunderbluff-style "Pine nut Cheesecake" using all local produce

because honestly, my B.Elf warrior princess looks silly with all her gear. it's amazing she can even stand.

I think the 'girly' thing is more from extreme stereotypes. You see the long, blond hair option depicted more often than any (I don't mean by players, but it is used by a hell of a lot of NPCs and also tends to appear in the media that way) and while plenty of real-life guys have long, blond flowing locks in our current culture it's still more commonly a female thing. Plus the perfect grooming is still viewed as a stereotypically female thing, even though realistically men are every bit as vain as women in this regard, they often just pretend they aren't ;)

But yeah, I prefer to avoid terms like "girly". But I know Cow was just joking about. Viewed from a distance it can be a more androgynous model than some of the others, though.

The Blood Elf males are at the very least androgynous in appearance. Their standing still posture could even be described as effeminate (at least to me). I seem to remember a quest line involving a male B'Elf NPC where there was a running joke about his gender so even Blizzard acknowledges the matter. The females, as I said before, appear adolescent and could use a more adult female look.

Also, it's a matter of comparison. No, b'elf men are really built. In fact, they're more realistically built than pretty much any other male in the game, re: muscle mass.

But you stick them next to Beefy McManchunks the human, or Thog Ironthighs the orc and see that the human's wrists are almost as big around as your belf's thigh, and you come away with the impression of 'girly'.

someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket

Well, comparing male Belves to other male races... It's certainly the least, uh, "masculine". But that's going by the stereotype of "masculine = CHEST LIKE A BARREL OF LEAD AND ARMS LIKE TREE TRUNKS" and that's how we got male humans. ...And draenei. And tauren. And every other race that looks like it needs to have its muscles inflated with helium every morning.

So I totally see where people are coming from when they say male belves are, for a lack of a better term, "girly". They look a lot more like the female models than the male ones. They're roughly equivalent to female orcs muscle wise, so they really look, compared to the other races, like they should be a female model. But again, that's mostly because of the ridiculous amount of exaggeration in the race models. If they weren't being compared to beefcake muscle-bound hulks, they'd look perfectly normal- even pretty masculine, so to speak.

...The females still need a bit more meat on their bones, though.

Edit- Nacht beat me to it!

This is a quote from another site. "Joked about at length, including the blood elf male flirt, "don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me?", and Johnny Awesome being mistaken for a girl and called "Jenny" by a character in Hillsbrad. " It's clear that Blizz intended them to be androgynous.

OMG that Tauren.... Out of all the updates (and I like them) that is the most dramatic, jaw dropping, amazing thing EVER. I need to make a Tauren Hunter. I already have a Pally Tauren...

That's just freakin awesome!!!

FABULOUS!!!

I've had that toon a very long time but he remains unleveled.

There's a reason I named him that though. It's because of the fact he's so masculine but clearly in touch with his feminine side. I actually leveled him not long ago purely for him to meet Johnny Awesome. So I am very anxious to see the updated belfs.

I've always viewed the Blood elf males as Bishōnen (pretty boys), that they even have that one joke Wain pointed out, just makes it all the more fun.

In the beta of BC they were actually LESS muscular. But so many people cried and whined that they made them more beefy. I think that's part of why their shoulder armor sat funny for so long.
