What is the most well known named pet?
Out of all the named tamable NPCs which one is the most notorious or famous? WoWs been around for years now and I have only been playing for over a year now so I was wondering which pet is the most loved?

So many hunters out there, you are going to get a lot of different pets named there.
For me I would say Loque'nahak.

Loque'nahak. Everyone and their grandmother knows who he is.

Re: What is the most well known named pet?
I'd have to say any of these: Humar, Brokentooth, Araga, the SW Croc, Timber, Olm.
And any of the Oldworld rares, more so than any of the NR ones, b/c they have been around, and camped for a lot longer than the NR ones. The camp for some of these pets, like Humar was insane... His spawn timer made me want to cry, especially when I showed up and there were a good 10-15 hunters there with me...

Humar and Loque'nahak I think. Humar because of how old and how popular he is, Loque because EVERYONE knows who and what Loque is.

Loque'nahak. Gained quite the reputation during WotLK, what with both hunters and achievement seekers trying to find that one kitty.
AKA Nazthandol, in <Petopians> (US)
Cute doesn't need an explanation.

King Bangalash was the famous pet for a long time, although I haven't seen him around at all lately. Same with the Frostsaber Pride Watchers (purple kitty).
Re: What is the most well known named pet?
Uhm... well, it depends what demographic you're looking at: hunters? Non-hunters? Hunters who are really into their pets? New players, old players? What server are you looking at? Shoot, what region?
Even then, you'll get pockets and bubbles and uneven distributions. For instance, in my little corner of existence Humar would beat the pants off of Loque-- I have non-hunter friends who tease me about Humar, but wouldn't know who Loque was without a trip to Wowhead. Then again, in my corner of existence the Carrion Scarab is probably more infamous. It varies very widely.

I'd say Broken Tooth.
Back in the olden times of WoW...BT had a very imba attack speed and pretty much EVERY hunter had to have him >_>

There are different generations of popular hunter pets, based on the expansion.
Love, however, is subjective. Popular doesn't necessarily mean loved.

I am not sure if anyone can pinpoint any specific rare named pet that most hunters have, but I can tell you what the most common names are and see if it will help you in any way...
OK... here you go... Wolf and Cat. Those are the most used names.

What pet could use to run down (outrun) 60% mounts?
Was it Dart?
I can't remember, but I think it was Dart... now that was some good times.

Close, it was Takk the leaper, he was the fastest thing around. You'd be in the saddle and running for you life and he'd gaining on ya! (and poor Maz was known for her slow pursuit speed, bless her little pink socks)Pent wrote:What pet could use to run down (outrun) 60% mounts?

My vote would go to Humar or Loque, with Broken Tooth coming in third.

Re: What is the most well known named pet?
I think it depends on the server population and their general wow age. Since I'm on a day 1 server, but also a fantastic raiding server, we get a little of both.
The old school in me would probably say Humar. That was the first thing that came to mind, having played since vanilla. Although the newer crowd wouldn't quite understand because of Pitch. Same with Broken Tooth. The oldies know about it, to anyone BC or newer it's just another mountain lion skin that most people would find uninteresting.
I think Loque is quite well known, if for nothing else than the population boom of Wrath. But even to later Wrath players, at that point there were 4 spirit beasts so they might not even care between Loque and the others.

Bangalash, hands down.
I remember back in the day seeing him on EVERY hunter above level 35, even after they removed the *Elite* tag from tamed pets.

Ghostcrawler. (but not because he is a crab)
Did you know that if you solo Ghostcrawler, he drops a pony?*

Re: What is the most well known named pet?
This expansion so far..
* In game, probably Sambas.
I still see a lot of people with cats/sambas for solo/ 5 mans and even raids with due to their buff being quite good for hunters in general.
* On these forums, Maddex.
Mads has created fervor to the likes in which I've never seen. Probably due to the fact that it's a new skin, and it's like a lucky dip, only severed with a side of frustration
