4.2 Legendary Staff Preview

I'd just like to say how extremely jealous I am of this. Mostly because it's the first legendary I'm truly interested in (my DK is a former blue dragon--yes, I know she wouldn't be able to use this anyway), but sadly, I'm not much of a hardcore raider. My work schedules are too erratic to support raiding and I haven't had much interest in it until seeing the Firelands stuff anyway.

Major kudos to any who strive to get this thing.

Update: This has been confirmed as a DPS caster weapon. You also need to have cleared all pre-Firelands current raid content to even be eligible to obtain the quest for the legendary staff.

It's the caster legendary staff that they've been talking about since like beta. And yeah, anything involving the blue dragonflight is going to be magic based.

I'm *very* tempted to make a blood elf mage to level with and start attempting to raid (Indi was a mage before dying).

Either way, druids received a legendary fairly recently, I wouldn't expect anything for them any time soon. Still though, there ought to be agility legendaries for rogues coming soon, and after that a gun for hunters. Your time will come.

Yeah; that would be for resto druids only, right?

I do agree that they need some agility legendary next; enhancement shamans have gotten nothing, rogues haven't gotten anything since Black Temple, nothing for hunters since Sunwell, and feral druids last got a legendary in what, Molten Core?

It's going to be a caster staff which means resto and boomkin druids should be able to use it.

I think this stave benefit balance druids more so than resto druids. The official post mentioned that the stave's special effects are catered towards offensive casters.

blizzard has stated the proc of this awesome looking staff its going to be for dps so this is a dps caster legendary not for healers not for us hunters to take... (why can't everything be hunter gear?)

And if I remember right from the horror stories (I didn't touch raids or instance with a ten foot pole in Vanilla, I was just a nub hunter leveling stupidly slow. To this day, I STILL have never seen MC) ferals were pretty much useless, and no one took balance seriously. That, and pallies were pretty much the brunt of all rage, hate and nerfs too...

Druids and pallies were apparently useless and sad during Vanilla...

Aye, and for a good reason: They could perform all of the roles in the game. THe design philosophy back then was "Jack of all trades, master of none", and it's incredibly much better than "Jack of all trades, master of all trades".
