After ending up in a situation earlier where I had a Druid and a Warrior in the group, and my only DPS Survival pets with me at the time being a raptor and a wolf (which then, despite my love (especially for the raptor) for them, meant I was providing zero pet bonuses to a five man)... I've decided I need to start carrying another. I also have a Terrorpene with me for impromptu-tanking (and generally looking awesome), and typically a pair of exotics incase I have to switch to it to deal with Alliance. That said, such events are few and far between, and I guess the devilsaur can rest at the stable until I'm SURE I'm gonna be PvPing.
Rhino can stick with me, cause ya never know when an opportunity to punt a gnome will arise.
Anywho... need a new pet to toss out when my beloved raptor isn't an option, and there's some really nifty lookin' pets for that third option.
Decided that ferocity is probably the best route to go, but Cunning is an acceptable choice as well, maybe. So, anywho...
Sporebat: Amuses the heck out of me and already have one (named Sporekimus), but... yeah. Spore Cloud seems pretty average, and just now testing it, it'd hurt my DPS. Still, it's a Sporebat!
Cat: How over-freakin' played cats are still bugs me, but I guess a snow leopard or even a lynx could be alright. Good DPS buff, and Ferocity pet to boot.
Vulture: Dunno how handy the damage debuff is, but they ARE ferocity pets... and let's be honest, nowhere NEAR enough folks have Vultures!
Tallstrider: Like Sporebats and Vultures in the similar Sporebat debuff and the fact no one uses them, despite their awesomeness. Same ability as a Sporebat, but them being Ferocity gives me CotW back for the deeps.
Dragonhawk: Honestly, wanna ninja my way into ZA and steal one of there's. I <3 Forest Trolls, and wouldn't mind having one of their pets. Cunning is the big downside, though as a Survival Hunter I have to wonder how much there ability would help me dish out a little extra damage to make up for that fact.
Aaaand everything else either bores me or is Tenacity. Okay, Seagulls don't bore me and aren't Tenacity, but I fail to see that disarm being worth the novelty in a lot of cases (sadly). Just want something else I can bring to the table, and in the process be a nifty pet in its own right. Obviously with raiding it probably won't matter, as odds are almost all those buff will be present anyways, meaning I can take whatever Ferocity pet amuses me the most.

Oh, and I absolutely ADORE hyenas, but... yeah... way to give them the crappiest ability in the game, Blizz.
Re: New Pet For Sparkimus...
Well, why I wait... decided to at least go ahead and take the challenge of taming an Amani Dragonhawk. With camo, feign death, and a cloaking device, it isn't too hard to sneak past nearly every mob on the map. The real trouble was the tame itself. My first instinct was to sneak past the first patch of em, as there's like five or six dragonhawks all bunch up AND the one Troll trainer AND a scout watching over the area. They see through stealth, as does the scout, so I sent my turtle on a kamikaze beeline for the scout. The distraction worked, and managed to FD on the other side just as my turtle bit it.
Killed the rest of the scouts, namely the two pathing around and the two by the next trash. Figure that would be my best bet, the next trash group with three trolls and one dragonhawk. Wyvern Sting, Freeze Trap... and even with deterrence and upping my tame speed, the single hawk and troll would kill me right before I got the tame off.
Thankfully, a stroke of luck after failing a couple of times: my turtle managed to kill that final scout! A Wyvern Sting to the trainer, a freeze trap at my feet, deterrence, berserking, and then the un-CCed group of hawks couldn't muster the damage to save their buddy from becoming my new pet
Gotta say, while it may not stay in the line-up, it was one of my favorite tames in a good while. Right there with King Mosh and Terrorpene and my original, now long released snow leopard. Now I need a name for it, something Troll-ish...
