What I like to do is take them to the Cult of the Damned place NorthWest of the Argent Tourny, because those 80's have a little less health and are easier to kill then other level 80s. Just farm up there for a little bit, it took me less then 5 minutes for my pet to level to 76 when I was survival spec, and then for my BM spec maybe 7 minutes if that.

You can also do random heroics, it should take about four to get your pet ready. You get shiny emblems too.

Ditto on the randoms... Not only will your pet level, but you'll get gold and frosties. It takes about 1-1.25 randoms to get 1 level for your pet.

This.

Heroics are the most convenient way. Soloing works too. It's incredibly easy to get a pet from 75 to 80.

Oh god. I remember when the pet wasn't always 5 levels below the hunter. That was terribly. DX Compared to how easy it is to level them now.

Anyways, I bring my newly tamed pets on heroics. They usually level within 4 or 5. (Maybe less. Depends on how much trash is cleared.)

NEW SIGNATURE PENDING... SOON.

THIS A MILLION

I abandond quite a few pets because of this- and was never able to use a few others cause of it too. It was just such a nightmare to try and solo even green mobs.

But yeah heroics or even just lv 80 dungeons such as ToC/FoS/PoS/HoR are good enough too. Sides you can also get loot you can use if you're not good enough/dion't want to spend time on heroics.

I also use the Cult of the Damned NPCs, although not always the ones by the Tournament grounds because they are often camped for dailies on my server. I also quite like the Vyrkul guys with the chicken legs on that island.

It's true that leveling a pet 5 levels today is a lot less painful than 20, 40, 60 levels before. But it's not completely painless. ;) And it's always a huge surprise to me these days when I tame a new pet and suddenly I am having trouble with the harder stuff, pulling aggro like crazy. Without even thinking about it, I just assume that the big pet by my side will magically be my level and able to do the stuff my other pets can. *shrug*

True, it's worse on BM hunters and people who don't run around with raiding gear. I pull off my pets regardless of level/spec/etc., so it doesn't make a difference to me either way. xD I forget how crippling it is sometimes...

...I think I was one of the few people who truly enjoyed levelling a pet from its starting level to right up until they were 70/80.
I thought of it as proper bonding time with the beasts Laz had, and made for a lot of untold adventures (I'm an RP nerd, alright already!)

But I second the notion for heroics.
At least 4 got Drachenstein and Tiberias ready to kick major epic bootay elsewhere, but do watch your aggro. Remembering your pet is not yet 80 can make for interesting OMGWTF moments when a mob decides you're lunch XD

Well yeah I know it can be a pain at times- Yas getting to 80, I decide to level Landowar who was at the time 76, two crits in a row and it's LOL AGGRO PULLING ALL OVER AGAIN. I didn't even bother attempting to level Sunscale for a bit. But i did discover a protip after a bit when I was using the daily of killing Converted Heroes [my god why isn't it anything else], MD pet, pewpewpew. start shooting, Kill command+Intimidate. rinse lather repeat.

MM and SV could probably use steady, explosive, concussive shot and pewpew.

Honestly i couldn't really handle the pre leveling fix, even when I got Humar on a belf alt, i just fraggled cause I couldn't dps crap down enough to survive, he couldn't tank it as he was 20 levels lower, and this was ofc BEFORE lfg change so a dungeon run? Lol no .-.

I hear ya, Kas; I felt like that too, until I realized that it's not the leveling that I was missing - it was the time spent with the pet bonding. Leveling was a great excuse for it, but you can make up for it by running around with them anyway. :)

if your a skinner the serpents, rhinos, and crocolisks in sholazar basin are good for farming borean leather and vh is a good way of getting borean too not that its related or anything, it took me an hour grindin to get my cat from 75 to 76 and i had over 120 borean at that time also you might wanna try farmin some mobs in northern icecrown for vrykul bones if ya need rep even tho its only 10 rep per 15 bones

There are other ways and about the heroics if your pet is lvl 75 and your doing a lvl 80 dungeon your gonna be lacking dps and in some instances where dps counts like the encounter with the lich king you may get booted just for your pet being too weak so choose carefully before you do heroics with pets under lvl 80

Well HoR, FoS, PoS aren't dungeons to be taken lightly and aren't dungeons I would suggest to use to level up lowbie pets. Nor ToC or other gauntlet ones such as it. I do suggest HoL/HoS, UP, UK or VH, just quick and easy dungeons. I say quick and easy because most runs for HoS unfortunately skip two bosses.

But UP/UK/VH are relatively easy, no worries about low pet DPS and that really only matters if you're BM tbh.

You can also hit the lvl 78-79 mamoths and worms by Dun Niffler if you want to level your pet and skin borean and jormungar scales.
