I was doing the dailies with my beautiful owl (named Oatmeal) when my track beasts picks up something near the statue of malourne that isn't an NPC. For the SECOND time since camping for the owl myself I have seen him wondering around peacefully on a simple fly-by. There was a Blood elf priest staring at him but not acting. I spoke to her and discovered that she had infact been camping Ban'thalos for her husband who was on his way to tame the owl. She very kindly asked me not to attack or tell any other hunters as I quickly reassured her that I had no intrest in the owl as I already had him, and I also happily offered my help. My mage is on the Alliance and so was her husband, so I went on my gnome mage and helped any way I could.
I gave him a slow fall with about 2 other hunters and 4+ other classes watching, and as he was coming down, the Harsh moonlight finished the poor guy off before he even hit the ground. Knowing the feeling of defeat and the sudden fear that someone else would swoop down and do something to ruin this opportunity for him, I interveined! I got the owl's aggro and brought him safetly to the ground along with me. He casted a harsh moonlight and I quickly interupted one and Ice blocked the second. Even though I wasn't even the one taming him I was under pressure. I told the hunter to run back as fast as he could while I fought off the owl.
To my great delight I found that I could polymorph the Owl and then wait peacefully for the hunter to come back. He ressurected, trapped for some reason (I would aswell, but he was already a turtle with like 50+ seconds left before he changed back LOL) and he tamed it with no problems. Him and his wife thanked me thorroughly and I was more than happy to help them. I would have felt alot worse if I DIDN'T do anything and watch him get killed or even lose his tame. We had our usual exciting conversation that all hunters do after getting a pet they really wanted and I FELT GREAT
