Differences between fire spider commons and rares
Is there any difference, after tame, in looks, from say, Skitterflame and a normal Cindwedcreeper? I'm curious, because I have a friend wanting Skitter, but he wants to make absolutely sure there's no difference in skins so he doesn't waste his time and just tames a normal red one.

Re: Differences between fire spider commons and rares
I had someone claiming the rares were actually brighter, but I haven't noticed it myself. I was thinking it might just be my old screen again, so I thought I'd ask here.

Re: Differences between fire spider commons and rares
There is no difference besides a self-imposed importance from rare collectors. :P One will set off NPCScan and can be used for bragging rights(but not much else), the other won't. The skins are identical.

Great. He will be happy to hear that. He's been camping Skitterflame for 2 days. Now he can just go out and tame a neutral Cinderweb spider and have his happy red spider.

I will say there is a slight difference between Kirix and the mini green cinderweb broodlings.
All it is is the first time you summon them, after you have cleared your cache, they will come running out at their original mini size before enlarging to the standard spider pet size.
Had me laughing like a loon when I noticed it.

And on the other hand, the rares are HUGE when first summoned after a cache-clear.

Re: Differences between fire spider commons and rares
Part of the reason it can seem like the rares are brighter is because they are larger, so all the details of the skin show up better. That's just an illusion, though; the skins are identical.

Whoa, wait. The rares really are larger?Kalliope wrote:Part of the reason it can seem like the rares are brighter is because they are larger, so all the details of the skin show up better. That's just an illusion, though; the skins are identical.
I had my Deth out the other night and happened to be standing next to another hunter with the non-rare version of Anthriss, and my Deth was huge compared to his spider. I thought I was imagining things and/or losing my mind. o_o

The other hunter probably had the glyph of lesser proportion.

Re: Differences between fire spider commons and rares
Yeah, my Deth was standing next to my friend's newly tamed Cinderweb red spider and there was no size difference at all, just the color difference. I'm also noticing that for some reason when I summon Magria/Ankha they come out as HUGE cats, even though they were normal sized to begin with. WTF?
Same with Ban'thalos. I summoned him to help a guy kill an elite and he was like "WHOA huge bird" before it shrunk back to regular. These aren't even normally huge mobs. What gives?

Well either way, good to know I'm not going insane. D:
