Sporebats; not so useless after all.

Unread post by Tsuki »

So today I decided to farm for Sporeggar reputation, so of course, I was going to see lots of sporebats. And I just absolutely fell in love with them. So beautiful, and... odd. So I tamed one, a blue one. He might not do as much damage as a ferocity pet, since he is cunning, and he may not have an amazing ability, but he's cute, charming, and spore cloud isn't completely useless. It helps him keep aggro a bit better. And since when is a 30% cast speed reduction a bad thing? Sure, it's no 5% crit boost or an agility buff, but it's still a good skill.

That is all. :P

Kidding. Sort of. *looks at Squish* Kind of a funny story for me with sporebats. I used to totally hate them, especially after the whole can't unsee tail bits. I participate in the Pet Challenge threads and had been assigned the blue one on a couple of different characters. And then my troll got one and I groaned about it a bit. But after taming Squish and naming him, for some reason it just became totally different. I didn't see him the same way and I fell in love with his goofiness. And thus we have that image up there because I swear he brain washed me.

And then I incorporated a sporebat into my RP huntress's theme as well and certainly don't hate them anymore, dangly bits and all. XD

Back when Sporebats *were* useless (literally, they didn't have any special abilities they could learn in BC at all other than cower, growl, and maybe dive) I tamed one that I called 'ImWithStupid'. It was originally done as a joke... and I totally fell in love with it. Got another one out of heroic Underbog and renamed it KuraBat (blame my guild), and kept him around for a *long* time. And considering stables only had limited slots then, that's really saying something!

Ironically, for me, it was the opposite: when I tamed the sporebat in my challenge game, as much as I loved, *LOVED* the color of it, the ability gave me shitfits. It kept lingering on the ground, thus making a danger zone for any neutrals that happened to wander through it. Definitely not something you want to have for grinding and leveling!
Come see Kurasu's stables!

I had one for a little while just before 4.0, back when they still had a (minor) AOE DOT. Sorta fun, although not so much as in early 3.0 when dragonhawks had cone AOE fire breath - that + EOTB = lots o fun. XD

they're nice in pvp against casters, healers.

they (cunning pets) do about the same dps as ferocity pets in a raid setting if you're SV. the extra crit as SV boosts your talents that increase pet dps.
