Fable 3
Has anyone here played Fable 3? I got it recently in order to use it as a study motivator, since I found it used for almost the same price as the visa giftcard I was given.
Some of the stuff in this game is hilarious. Like the one line that the gnomes say.
Also, I just did the quest The Game. Absolutely hilarious. If you haven't played, do a youtube search for it, as it's a totally true commentary on gaming... ahh.. so hilarious. The acheivement you get for completing the quest says "You rescued a piece of cardboard and gained valuable insight into the game development process".
Key highlights: The talking about immersion and item design. And the ending *rolls eyes* it's so stereotypically "guys make video games" kind of stuff (I generally always play female characters, like myself, when I can, especially for first playthorughs).. oh man.. hilarious.

Re: Fable 3
I have played through this once. I appreciate what PM tries to do, and his vision and all that, but the execution seems to fall a little short sometimes. In this one, the spell system felt less fun than in 2. I liked having five levels of spells. The spellweaving looks cool and all, but it just doesn't have the same oomph.
I really don't care for the male NPCs either. I didn't marry anyone in my playthrough because they were all so hideous! At least there were some tolerable females. I understand that not every NPC in the game should be some gorgeous hunk, but is my attractive young lady REALLY going to want to marry some disheveled, shriveled old man with a fugly hat? I think not. (And yes, I realize that if you make a certain decision at the beginning, a certain someone can make an appearance later and become your spouse - he's a little too nice for me, though...or something).
Ummm, I don't like how they removed a ton of the old weapons like cleavers, katanas, etc. I liked having a variety and I actually used different things in 2. I also really don't like the Road to Rule. It felt to me like it was too much of dumbing things down. The leveling up system in the previous games really wasn't all that difficult, so I don't know why they chose to do it that way.
OH, and the real estate. I HATED having to renovate each property one at a time. It wasn't the repair itself that was the problem, it's just that you had to do it one at a time. It was so tedious. It would have been much better if they had had an option "Renovate all property in this area for xxx amount of gold?" Yes/No.
I don't care for the "Touch" interaction system, either. I liked entertaining whole crowds of people (in 2), instead of doing silly dancing with another woman, one at a time, just to get her to like me enough to send me on some lame and repetitive fetch quest.
(I had to dance with men, too, of course, but it seemed less odd to be a woman dancing with a man, than to be a woman dancing with another woman.)
Overall, it's still a decent game. The story was good up til a certain point, and then it seemed a bit flat. The revolution part was good, IMO, but after that was when it got meh. Rushed, maybe? I'm not sure.
This Fable Journeys thing that's coming out next seems like epic fail to me. It's first-person and it uses the Kinect, and it looks like all you do is follow a linear path on a carriage and fling spells at people. Boooriiiiing. Hopefully it'll go through several improvements from now til when it comes out, but I'm not really holding my breath.
I loved Fable, liked Fable 2, and pretty much tolerate Fable 3.

I just find some of the humor to be awesome. It's always fun when entertainment forms mock themselves. (the game quest I was talking about, they go on about dialogue and item text... and how while a few people like to immerse themselves.. most people couldn't care less, heh)

Since I share your beliefs on the first two fables nearly word-for-word, i'll take your word on what I'll think about Fable 3Rhyela wrote:I loved Fable, liked Fable 2, and pretty much tolerate Fable 3.
