Vanity Pets (World of... Pokemon?)

Am I the only one who saw the information on the Pet Battle System and immediately though Pokemon?!

And my question is thus: Are these vanity pets that we are able to catch-are they going to be the little critters that are already in the game? The Hyacynth Macaw, which is so expensive to buy, can be found flying around a number of areas of the world. What will this do to rarity...

And will I finally be able to get a warpstalker as a vanity pet?! They are running around Durotar among other places after all!

I did too in another thread. Personally I like the idea. I've never really cared about rarity (even tho my fav pet to show is incredibly rare but even if there were millions of Mini Tyraels I would still have him out) so I'm interested on what cool things one can get. Mostly curious on how this would work with the mini pet achieve....

Being a pokemon fan I love this idea.
Not only will it let you bond with your pet again but to those lazy collectors it will become something more- so the pets dont become 'mister/ misses just sit there for show' pet
Iv'e heard complaints that this is going to be bringing younger kids into world of warcraft, but really I tend to find that the pokemon games are enjoyable for all ages and this may have some more complicated concepts into it maybe.

I love it!! I think its going to be awsome!!!! Its silly, its pokemon, its just...AWSOME!! Meeting them out in the wild, battle to win them over, NPC's battles, batteling other players. Oh, I am going to have so much fun wiuth this!!!!!! I love Wow, I love Pokemon, I usually have my DS on infront of me while I play Wow, now I can do it all on my Computer!!! I am happy happy happy!!! And my vanity pets will actually be able to get to see the light of day!!! So many of the lil ones, and only a few that get used! I hope that this will let me love my Druid again (who is my vanity/mount collector).

My spirit of competition and worpeltinger will probably be the first to help me learn this new feature!

Gotta agree with Kayb, it really sounds ridiculous. At least, touting it as a big-draw aspect of the game sounds ridiculous.

Leave it as a minigame, like the Plants vs. Zombies homage in Hillsbrad, don't advertise it as a major aspect of the expansion.

I imagine it will be in-game critters that we will be able to get, and they'll probably add new ones as well. However, probably not All critters will be available. Wonder if we'll get a Critter-Lore ability?

I know I'll be doing it some at least, just to get a few more pets. I'm 103/150 for the celestial dragon and am having trouble with the rest of the collection. hopefully this will help a bit.

I'm excited it gives more purpose to companions, and it's something that may add a new challenge and fun feel to pets in general. I like the idea of fun mini pet battles

Now I know its called world of WARcraft but making your NONcombat pets duke it out just seems silly and somewhat bellow blizzards usual standards. Just seems a bit too ridiculous for me. And its so clearly based off of pokemon taht it makes my head hurt. Im having yu gi oh, pokemon and neopets flashbacks x.x I’m just waiting for them to make a post along the lines of "luls psyche!"

Core Hound Pup, Armadildo Pup, Willy, Tiny Sporebat, Tiny Shale Spider, Onyxian Whelpling.
Houndoom, Sandslash, <no clue>, Zubat, Metagross, and Zweilous.

The more I think about it, the more I am both baffled and awestuck with this idea.
It is completely and utterly stupid and ridiculous. Which is why it's awesome. Don't take it seriously, it's a ludicrous little minigame to help alleviate some of the boredom you face at max level. I know that I am going to be turning off my brain and running around with a huge derpy look on my face as I go out and battle my Pocket Minipets ((Or Pokémin for short )). And so long as it's a well crafted system, I'm going to have tons of fun doing it. Because that's what I play games for; to have fun and sometimes having fun means beating up a baby dragons with a balloon.
Oh Light, please allow me to use my balloon in these things...

Anyway, even if you're not into the minipet battling thing, minipets are still looking to be made account wide. That's still an awesome addition. (And I hope they do the same with mounts too.) And you'll be able to name them too. Also an awesome addition.

to both those quotes i agree. Ive been in a lot of petpet battles with some of my favorite petpets but i really didnt like it, it was more out of bordem that i played it..

.. im wondering how the 'capturing minipets in the wild' thing will work.. like, are there rare and common spawns, how long will the timers be, are they killable, can you track them, how big will they be in the wild :S
