Mal'Ganis - Saving the alliance population

Thought this was an interesting thread, so I went over to Mal'Ganis and created a shaman and hunter to level and help out. The guild they made is Crown Defiance, and it's at around 200 members as I type this. Just wanted to share in case anyone would be interested in rolling a character.

The thread has been deleted...

I'm curious what it was about? -- mainly because Mal'Ganis is the bane of my existence (literally!) in many dungeon pugs. Ugh, I have yet to pug with a decent player, in terms of skill, attitude and personality, from Mal'Ganis.

The guy who made the topic wanted to rebuild the alliance population on Mal'Ganis and save it from being so one-sided (the horde take up 97% of the players), so he made a guild with friends and loads of people joined it. That's the basic gist of it.

There are more blood elves than the other 6 Alliance races combined. Ouch.

That server really needs a free Horde transfer off and a free Alliance transfer on! I heard that simply starting Tol Barad games are a huge hassle.

Huh. I doubt one guild will make the difference if the imbalance is truly that bad. :?

Sadly I think a free transfer of Horde Off and Alliance On wouldnt work either. =/ There is -way- to many people out there that are pretty strict to the servers they play on. And it just sounds awful to have to play with that HUGE of a difference. x.x I mean, jesus. I already come from a High-Pop horde server with my Alliance "Mains". I cringe...thats a PVP server too. x.x;;

Sheeeeet..97% horde? Sad to say but that sounds like a lost cause..though I agree with Sara, Mal'ganis generally provokes cringing in PuGs before the dungeon even starts x_X

Yeah the thing that really works against Mal'Ganis is probably its reputation... I can't think of a single reason to roll a toon there. :?

Yeah… Mal'Ganis has never treated me well. >.< But it's a very interesting idea.

I mean, I can't imagine they'll make it balanced, but the guy's trying to make the effort to at least make Alliance side playable. I just thought it was a neat idea, figured I should roll a toon just for the lulz.

It is, during wrath I had a horde toon over there. 9/10 players I seen where horde in Dalaran, It's like the reverse of Anvilmar but worse. It also makes for a very poor economy, not alot of supply or demand. This drives the price of everything up, where as on the Horde side, everything is cheaper. You think this is great! Everything is so cheap, not so. It also mean your making less money on the Ah because of stuff being so cheap. So the two balance each other out. Go to Wow heroes and do a realm progress, sort by Hunter, both Alliance and Horde. Then go count how many Alliance players you see..

Well Jessi, I'm on Kargath and I think it's nicely balanced. :D The number of alliance and horde is pretty even.

But yeah, if this guild works out it'll start bringing more alliance to the server, thus creating more guilds and a better economy. It's a neat idea.

Aww. Kargath's not an RP server, so I think that leaves Kargath out. Progression is pretty damn close though. Horde has 7/7 heroics in one guild, but all the other high end raiding guilds for both sides are at 5 or 6 out of 7.

my hunter started on Malganis back in vanilla, when i left around the time of Naxx, we had a fairly balanced ally/horde ratio, plenty of bgs and world pvp, got my Commander title there and around 60K hks.

once a server goes lopsided, its very hard to rebalance. the thread mentioned a lot of ppl taking the free transfers to whatever lopsided realm, then paid for a faction change to the dominate side, lol, making it even more lopsided. after 5 years on pvp servers i'm glad to be on a pve server now.

wow, 30,000 = horde vs under 700 alliance... thats gotta be there worst balanced server ever. ironforge and stormwind must be ghost towns there

Blackrock has 24,500 or so alliance, compared to some 5000 horde. not as terrible as Mal'Ganis, but its up there

Dethecus is a very quiet server it seems, about 4000 each side. yet you never see it appear on free realm swaps

My Server is favored to Alliance, but it's not a Role Playing one so that wouldn't work for you.
