Best experience on WoW to date.

Unread post by JezzebelPop »

On Friday myself and a guildie decided we would get a group together on Saturday (yesterday) and do Ulduar 10M for Glory of the Ulduar Raider. SO late last night at around 10pm, the first I could log on we grouped up and got 2 other guildies to join and I went to work in /trade to assemble the rest of the group. I can tell you I was SO nervous, I'm still a relatively new player to wow and this is the first raid I have ever assembled myself. I was so worried it would all go wrong or nobody would want to join etc...
However after just one ad in /trade all the dps slots were filled with 5 others being told (to my dismay) that there was no room. I was SO unprepared for the bombardment of whispers :p I was going nuts trying to reply to them all lol. Then after an experienced member of the group gave some advice I put another ad out for the remaining slots for healers and tanks. This got me all healers and one tank. Last ad and 2 tanks wanted it so the group was full in about 5 mins!

The other reason I was paranoid was because I have NEVER set foot in Ulduar and don't know a thing about the achis, I had meant to go over tactics before but RL took my internet time away. So why would anyone want to stay in a group with a complete and utter nub? Well I had chosen my group well it seemed because the experienced players were very kind and patient with all of us who didn't know what to do and no one left! Even when someone didn't even know where Ulduar was :p bless.

We went in and wiped at the first boss... I was feeling a bit downhearted and thought this would cause a lot of nerdrage, however only one comment of "noob" was thrown around and it was kinda justified and the emote afterwards said it wasn't meant in a harsh light. :) In we go again and get the Achi!
The next boss took For-ev-er. Waiting for the Iron Dwarves and making sure they weren't being killed (which for some people was difficult for them to read the chat box when others said "DON'T KILL!!! They got it eventually hehe :3). We wiped twice to get the number needed and a third to do the fight over and beat the drake before she could fly off again for an additional achi :p It took a long time though, curse us for being high levelled and geared haha!

The rest went fairly smoothly. The first of me seeing Ulduar and oh my days, what an absolutely stunning place it is! I thought Black Temple was big, not a patch on this place. Before each boss the experienced players gladly talked us through the requirements and I made sure people were reading and took notes myself to make sure I was doing it properly and could guide later on as I had a reference now.

We even killed the quest boss who looks like the Sparkle pony's owner :P so we all got the Starcaller title. ^_^

There was one fight where I had NO CLUE at all what was going on and that was Freya. I couldn't even see her in the area and all of a sudden we were in battle with her, I was losing control of my character half the time where I couldn't attack and when I did, I just hit adds to be safe. Eeep. It was accomplished though and we got the achievement!

We had no trouble at all until the second last boss. Somehow one of the saronite clouds was killed so we had to wipe. Another one that took ages just from waiting for the clouds to pop.

Then came Yogg Saron. Oh dear. I can now see why people say LFR DS is easy, all you who did this at lvl 80 I salute you. SO much going on, the insanity aspect was making me pull my hair! We wiped 5 maybe 6 times. Hard to tell for sure, I was getting disheartened again you know paranoid it was going to fail, I felt I had a responsibility to the group. But it was the last one to get and we were done so we all stuck in. Every single person from the beginning was still there and fighting for their drake and finally at around half 3 in the morning we got our achievement!

Glory of the Ulduar Raider 10M!!

I wanted to get this SS with Yogg still there but just before I took it he de-spawned... How extremely rude of him!!!

I'll emphasise that at the beginning of the evening I had not one of the meta for the main Achievement. We got it all done in one run, no one left, no one was rude to anyone whatsoever, half of us hadn't even been in Ulduar, one didn't even know where it was and I think for my first ever raid group constructed by myself we did exceptionally well and it's left me with such a good feeling and a humble one to know there are great players on my server. Players who are kind, patient and fun to play with. Also ones who don't mind staying up to the early hours of the morning, an hour of which was spent wiping at the last boss!!

At the beginning before we went in I said "If it all goes tits up, just have fun with it, I don't want anyone to be miserable." I think everyone left with a great feeling of achievement even if it's not as hard as it used to be in LK days and they were all really happy with their shiny... err rusted new mounts! :D :D :D

This has given me a taster of what it's like to have a really good raid run with really good people, no one raged at the amount of wipes it was all just "Damn, let's carry on lol". I keep seeing comments from people complaining at the new raids saying it's not like "the old days of raiding" and it's too easy etc. Well even this mainly easy run was fun, we still had a challenge at the end and all felt the achievement so for me it was awesome! My guild is good but we don't have a proper raid team so there's no consistent challenge, this experience has encouraged me to try and get one constructed so I can share in more experiences like this and hopefully make more people happy.

I saw a thread on battle.net forums with the OP wanting Blizz to remove all old content titles and mounts. I strongly disagree, yes it was an easier run that it would have been when Wrath was current however there is still so much fun to be had and the moment when Yogg finally went down and the Achievement appeared on screen was met with the greatest of feelings from everyone present especially me, who after all the worry was so happy and proud of the result. That should not be removed from the game, ever.

Now as this is a mount thread here is my beloved new Proto Drake!

I was lucky to get him in that SS. He flew off a split second after I took it o.o I'm surprised I got him in lol.

A MASSIVE Thankyou to all the people who joined me! It was a good job all round!

I know the feeling quite well you are talking about! I did a 25 man Ulduar run with a pretty much of a pug but it went smoothly and I agree that there are good people on our servers and I do think that we shouldn't delete the old content because they are what made Wow amazing! If I had to suggest I think they should just make them permanent part of the game

I am so happy for you and your new ally! Enjoy! I know I enjoy my Mystic (Ironbound) when I pull him out to fly around.
