I even tried for the pvp realm listed and I got the same error.

Hmm, maybe the whole PTR thing was turned on by mistake. And the BlizzCon thing was ready for the next PTR...

They are claiming it was a fluke, and Ghostcralwer is fervently denying that it is any sign of the beta. For the moment, Blizzard is saying that there is no PTR to test.

That's a pretty big mess up. Not like them to do that. We know Beta is coming soon but when is the question.

Honestly, at this point I take anything and everything BLizzard says with a dash of salt. Was it a screw up? Most likely. Does that mean it wasn't some kind of hint or sign at what's coming? Not at all. Most likely they are shifting things around in preperation for the beta, and slipped up.

Yah i defiantly sounds like there where trying to do something and this got out and they didn't want it to. The way they strongly protest to this hints to something else. They usually just shrug it off like ops we did something by mistake.

Yah I don't get it..they say they had to turn it on but it hasn't been turned off yet either.

What if my cryptic hints dispelled excitement? Something was being tested internally which required turning on character copies. In layman's terms, there is only one on/off switch for the testing being done and that activated character copies. It was intentional, but not necessarily useful for you to discover.

Was that uninformative and anticlimactic enough? :p

Also, guys, take this into account.
It's likely that even without a beta key, before they actually make the beta available, they'd test it on the PTR site to make sure sites and links referring to it are correct and make sure it all works in a live environment. Hence, you wouldn't need a beta key to see this page, but you would to actually see the official beta version.

It's difficult to explain what i want to say, but just don't assume, at this moment in time, that to see the copy page, even if the realm itself is down, that you'd need a beta key. When beta does go out, then you can assume you'll need a beta-activated account to access it.

I also think this was intentional. I mean, with what i said above about testing it in a live environment, they could quite easily do that on a private network, but instead, there's this seemingly innocent leak, and just days after they posted all those different "reviews" with links to current Cataclysm announcements. Slorkuz, an EU forum CM has been pretty active on the forums today, mostly with links to fanart and other "nonsense". Usually, you don't see him outside the PvP forum or posting to explain why a topic has been locked. I do recall him being up late at night posting the same night WotLK beta went out, along with Zarhym covering the US. He's not posted for a few hours.
