In the name of pet love? Have you stayed awake 3 days looking for Loque? Died 50 times hiking halfway around the world?

I've done the daggercap hawk hike, to be sure that's a trial in patience. I've danced solo with Deth and won. But I think some of my craziest moments were getting around a group and going after Chrommagus. It took a few tries until I got a group together, and it's not the lvl of the instance. It's that -beep- first room that cannot be soloed due to the mechanics of it. But once we got through that, it was a crazy fun romp through the rest until we got to him.

Another hunter of mine climbed a tree at the top of the world and fended off horde from the mountainside while waiting to tame Banthy. My poor worgen, I hate that tree.

Speaking of owls, there was also my ALystros tame, back when he hit like a mac truck. Ended up getting my hubby and a priest friend to help with prebuffs.

Tamed King Krush in early Wrath with two horde trying to kill me and him. I was grateful to have friends and guildies present.

I managed to tame Skarr in the middle of a blood bath lol. I died about 15 times. Horde hunters died just as much.
I found Skarr up and went to tame him when a troll hunter and an orc dk buddy came up and killed me. I rezzed and killed the dk while skarr ended up killing me and the hunter. Somehow it turned into a 45mins battle between like 10 horde and 5 ally and I managed to tame Skarr. Died like 5 seconds after my tame when off though.
Xfering Monday to a pve realm so I doubt something as fun as that will ever happen again.

Back in early Wrath, I gave a guy all of my gold from all of my characters for finding King Krush and letting me tame him. :) It was worth it. <33 He didn't even ask for gold, I just offered it to him. ^^

Um... Camped 12 hours for server first Ban'thalos. I think that was my longest "sit and do nothing" camp ever.

I don't know if some of you remember the HORROR that was the Wetlands (I don't even remember where I was, but I had to get to Dun Morogh... Did the deeprun tram exist back then?) run back in Vanilla was, but I ran that at level 10 to get to Dun Morogh and tame my first pet, a wolf named Sheeba. :) Because at the time I absolutely HAD to have a wolf! :P Abd that's where a friend told me they were. Said friend escorted me but I still died a whole bunch.

Crazy tames are the best! Like taming Gezzarak early in Wrath, at 72. I had a shaman with blood lust and speed drums and some gear with haste on it just so my tame could go down from 20 seconds to, like, 8. And then 2 paladin stuns for that duration so she wouldn't knock me back. It was overkill, but it was worth it.

Taming Terrorpene at 81 Leeroy Jenkins style was pretty crazy, too. Thank goodness for a well-thought-of paladin Hand of Sacrifice. >_>;

I made a dwarf hunter who made the trek to Mulgore at 10 to get Mazzranache. That was fun. The only real death-ish part was the gate at Ashenvale to the Barrens. This was before the Shattering, after all.
I think I always wanted to do the "bring a horde to Darnassus at 10 to get an owl" thing too, but I haven't yet.

Back in BC, I brought 2 friends with me into the Slave Pens so I could tame the only non-caster nether ray. Well, one friend and one boyfriend. I don't think it was that treacherous a hike, since they're pretty much 2 pulls in, but this was back when it was current, so they were hard pulls for a mage/warlock/pet-less hunter. :P The warlock friend was like "It's a good thing you're planning on keeping the nether ray that I worked so hard to help you get". He was just teasing, but he has a point. :D

The craziest thing I've done, is get my whole raid killed, cause I wanted this Dragonhawk. It was a guild group in the Eye, (Just after wrath came out) and I saw this one, and it just called to me. The group went to kill it, so I bleeped into Vent, and asked. The raid leader said yes....but some of the other guildies said no...silently. When I pulled the mob, the rest came with. The tank (also the raid leader) went up as the came towards me, and took the other mobs. The guys who didn't want me to have the pet, the started to kill mine. They got aggro of mine which cause the pet to start attacking them. Well, they couldn't hold aggro, and the pet went off towards the healer, while I tried to get her back. The healer she went for? My mother, of the two healers there. After several moments of the pet bouncing around, I finally got her back....only to see that both healers where dead, and the tank near death too. I popped a speed potion, and hit tame. Good news: I got her, with 5 seconds left to spare. Bad news: My whole raid wiped, on the trash mobs. It was sure funny though. I named my new Dragonhawk Bacardii (after my mom's toon, who the dragon hawk likes very much, still to this day), and she's still with me, I love her bright pink and purple (Which is strange, I normally don't like pink  )

The other thing, I've done the "bring a horde to Darnassus at 10 to get a Cat" Yeah, there was one I wanted. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=14430 I wanted her...well, Level 10. I was a Tauren . Yeah...Oh, did I forget to say, I did this solo? I did. It was crazy, I did countless times, But in the end, I Got Her!

At level 10, I took Mel here down to Mulgore for Mazzranache. Also at level 10, back before Cata, I took a Blood Elf to Darkshore to get one of the Moonsaber Runts. I ran a human hunter to the Barrens, twice, for a raptor and a turtle, and I've done the Hordie jaunt to get The Kurken. But a crazy thing I did that had nothing to do with a hunter?

Back before there were boats to Stormwind, I ran a level 3 Draenei mage from Azuremyst to Ironforge and then to Stormwind, since that was the "only" place to be for RP on Moon Guard. Wetlands to Loch Modan to Dun Morogh to Ironforge, collecting flight paths along the way so I could FLY next time instead of having to run.

I also took a level thirty-something mage through the furbolg tunnel to Winterspring.

I have a habit of taking low levels to places where they aren't supposed to be, I notice...

Hmm, I don't think there's anything overly crazy that I've done for a pet specifically.

If I can talk about mounts though...camping for Aeonaxx is probably the most insane thing I've ever done in this game. I lost sleep and sanity for nearly half a year trying to get my Phosphorescent Stone Drake. Friends and guildies grew accustomed to seeing me in Deepholm at all times, no matter the hour. I couldn't even play the game properly because I was terrified of missing a spawn if I left Deepholm. It was terrible, but at the same time...that mount was worth it for me. It's still probably my favourite mount in the game. I don't relish having to do that sort of camp ever again, but depending on what rare cloud serpent mount we might get in MoP...*sigh*...at least I have the experience now? x_x

Hmm, I think my Skarr tame was the most insane.

First off, it was late. Or early. Around 3 AM. Nobody else was there, even though it was right after the patch. Well, untrue- one person was there, a blood elf hunter. He wasn't taming, so I tried.
And died.
Again. And again.
I wasn't in MM, you see. At that time, I was BM/Surv. I had no chance. I was freaking out, because I thought other people would come, and I got Res sickness every time I died… Oh man, I was terrified. Anyway, the blood elf ended up silencing Skarr's attack as I tamed, and halfway through my attempts another blood elf hunter (a friend) popped up and helped as well. I was really lucky to have their help, it felt fantastic to finally tame that cat.

Of course, he didn't stay long. I don't like Skarr much. But the tame was wicked scary and fun so that made it worth it. xD

Terropine was pretty intense. It glitched and I got the tame b/c I was Leroy Jenkins-ing it and managed to get him. >.>' but that wasn't me..soooo...

Alystros someone mentioned before. At level he WAS a semi truck of smacking doom :) My priest friend heal bubbled me to 1% when he finally became mine *nod*

Gold, or Kirix, cost me the most in repairs.

I'd say Banny was the one. I solo tamed him at 5am server. No one was online, so no one could help me get him down. I couldn't figure out the tree method, so I got onto Malorne's head. I stood in my frost trap, flew up, shot banny, and hit my parachute cloak. I managed to float straight down back on top of my trap! WOOHOO! When Banny froze in it I freaked out. :) YAAAAY!!!!! I haven't been able to help anyone repeat that technique ><;

I often go on journeys full of adventures with my different hunters.
I went to Teldrassil with my level 20 Bloodelf to tame Duskstalker. I had to wait for her to be able to ride, then I hired my fiance's DK with path of frost to guide me over the sea from darkshore to Teldrassil. He left me there and I continued my journey alone. I ran as close to the gate to Darnassus as possible, died, ressed closer to the gate and managed to die inside Darnassus. If you release your spirit as Horde member in Darnassus you find yourself at this graveyard in the little village in the starting area. I took a rezz from the spirit healer and ran my little Rhanya to Duskstalker's path. I tamed him with rezz sickness and a few alliance members searching me like crazy and hearthed home the second they found me. It was a close escape but I loved the challenge.

Different hunter, different challenge. I had set my mind on Nix, the rare firefly from Loch Modan, the golden Eagle and the red fox. Three pets located in Loch Modan, a low level questing area for Alliance. My hunter was level 18 and Horde. I had no mount and only 2 active pet slots. My plan was to go to Loch Modan, tame two pets, run to Kargath and stable one pet, run back and tame the last one. The plan sounded nice. So I started my way without a pet in Orgrimmar, took the zeppelin to Undercity and took a bat to the south of silverpine forest. From there one I walked. I walked through Arathi Highlands, getting almost eaten more than once by angry raptors and spiders, but I could escape everytime. I passed the river and reached the Wetlands, avoiding guards and animals I continued my march. I had to pass through Dun Algaz, luckily the guards in there weren't high enough to kill me and I survived this run. Then I had reached Loch Modan. Making a sharp turn to avoid the alliance post there I ran towards the lake and found Nix the wasp. I tamed her and continued on the south east side of Loch Modan, taming an eagle on my way. Then I reached the south and the big trench the shattering had left between Loch Modan and the Badlends. Decending on a narrow and steep path and climbing the other side I had reached the Badlands. Then the problems began in form of creatures attacking me from miles away having only a skull instead of a level. I found myself dead without knowing where it had came from. I called my fiance to help me. He brought out his mage and escorted my safely to new Kargath. I found a stable master and put the pets into the stables. My fiance brought me back to the trench and I climed back to Loch Modan and tamed a fox. Except for the creatures in the Badlands I had done all the way and taming on my own without a death. I was really proud of myself and I still have Georgina the eagle on my hunter.

My Nightelf hunter did the already mentioned trip to tame the daggercap hawk at level 12. It wasn't as hard as I had expected. But after telling my fiance about it he wanted his little undead hunter to get one of them and this proved to be harder. I had to give him protection from all the mobs attacking him, but he managed to tame one of the hawks.
Same nightelf hunter who had tamed the daggercap hawk also made a march to the barrens to tame Dishu. It's wasn't hard, only took some time. As a player who mostly has horde toons I knew the places to avoid guards and it went all well.

For level 85 challenges: sitting on top of this dang tree in Hyjal without moving and waiting for the first Ban'thalos to spawn. It was a painful camp, but I got him.

King Krush. At-level (in Wrath, when tame times were 20 seconds). Yeah. I thought I was prepared. HA! The first night I found him (I actually found him my first night of camping), my tame attempts failed miserably. I managed to find a priest that was willing to help, but as I was waiting for him to fly out there, three fellow faction mates swooped in and murdered him right in front of me. In all fairness, I wasn't trying to tame him right at that very moment, but still. I was Krushed (har har). I was so incredibly upset that I couldn't fall asleep that night. When I finally did, I literally dreamed of Krush. Heh, in my dream another night elf was trying to tame him, but she failed and I was greedy so I didn't help her, and I tamed him.

Anyway, back in reality, I camped him almost the entire weekend without a single sighting. Monday rolled around and I felt sick from lack of sleep, not to mention exhausted, so I called off of work (I was bad, what can I say). I crawled back in bed, but this strange little thing gnawed at the back of my mind. "What if he's up right this second?" said the gnawing thing. "Oh shut up so I can sleep," I replied. "You should at least check," it gnawed back.

"Fine!" So, I got out of bed and logged on WoW. First spawn point, nothing. Hmph, just as I figur--OMG THERE HE IS! The second spawn point, right there at the base of the Glittering Pillar, tromped King Krush. Welp, so much for my calmness. I got all shaky and panicky. I tried taming him again, and kept failing. He either feared or knocked me back or whatever it was that he does in the wild (I can't even remember at this point). I wanted to scream in frustration. To make matters worse, I looked up after a few failed attempts and saw a BE pally floating overhead on a mount. NOOOOO! I flew up and emoted all the pathetic things I could. /beg, /plead, /no, etc. Thank goodness, he flapped away.

I turned on humanoid tracking. I already knew Krush was there, I wanted to keep an eye out for competition. Finally, I made the decision to call my brother. It was an extremely long shot, but I couldn't do this without help. I called him up, and he answered! I pleaded with him to come out to the Basin and help me, and he said he'd be there on his resto shaman. Woot! Well, those few minutes were the longest in my life. I nervously eyed Krush, then my mini-map, then Krush, then my mini-map, just totally paranoid that someone was going to swoop in and kill him again.

FINALLY, my brother arrived. I pounded down some buff food and pots, and steeled myself. My brother tossed an earth shield on me and cast bloodlust. We had one chance at this. If I wasted bloodlust, it was a 10 minute cooldown. Krush wouldn't last 10 minutes. I hit bestial wrath, started taming, and.....Krush knocked me back. OMG NO! I hopped back in the proverbial saddle and hit tame again. The tame bar shrunk, shrunk, shrunk, until FLASH! - Krush was mine! I could have cried in joy. Maybe I did. It's all a blur. I had picked the name Kaiser out ahead of time, but as I admired my ferocious, beautiful green devilsaur standing at my side, the name Apollyon hit me. "The destroyer." He certainly was. He about destroyed my sanity trying to get him. He destroyed my sleep. And he was worth every lost minute, every anxious moment, and every everything.

And talk about proud! I was so proud that I tamed King Krush at level 75. Granted, I had help, but still. I managed to do what few had done, and yes, that made him even more special. It was like he had to approve of me or something. I had to earn Apollyon's respect. Maybe he admires me in his own way for having the stones to attempt him at that level. I guess we'll never know. :)

(I always type so much, I'm sorry!)

(I logged on a horde alt to thank the pally after I tamed Krush. I offered him money, but he said he was just happy I got him. What a rare and wonderful person!)

As many of you may know... I spent 4 years searching for Loque'Nahak...

Also, I made the run in Wrath, after they fixed the GY bug, to get my lynx on my Night Elf Hunter. That was a very long trip, and was very worth the trip.

My 3rd and final crazy taming story is back in Wrath. When the Hellfire Ramparts used to be bugged, and stepping in the instance caused the entire dungeon to swarm you, I tamed my Armored Worg... I got in, not knowing the bug existed, and ran straight to the worgs. I figured I was 80, and this dungeon was a starter dungeon for 60-ish characters at the beginning of BC, how hard could it be? The answer is extremely difficult. I made the tame by the skin of my teeth, and even then, died almost as soon as I got my wolf. It was quite the tame, and my guild was dying in chat about it, because they'd never heard of the bug either.

King Krush was always a rush to tame, especially since I'd gotten him as Rhyela mentioned when taming was 20sec, & you had to stack haste, & get that silly haste/healing trinket from the vendors too.

For Tilo: Saw em; saturday evening, into sunday morning about 2am, mind you I'd waited all day long, saw two loque'nahaks, tamed one gave other to someone else, then another hunter shows up, course I blow the tame but I had the ''tag'' on King Krush, guildie finally shows up to see King Krush die in front of me & the other hunter saying "I needed frostbitten cheese.", of which my guildie buddy just errupted on him "what the heck Tilo had Krush tagged you didn't even get achievement, blah blah blah", I was literally 'krushed', & went to bed all kinds of unhappy. Woke up with but a few hours of sleep to check about 10hrs later, there he was near the pillar, but a mage took em out, waited around till the evening bout 10p, there he was again near the wasps, trial & error with a guildie helping I tamed King Krush.

Spent a week waiting in Uldum to see every single other color besides Red for Maddexx, oddly enough Red finally spawned a week after I started camping, & if a hunt buddy hadn't mentioned him to me "Is this red to you?", I might not have gotten em in time.

& of course my 'retame' of Skoll in Storm Peaks, was one of those weird, I went to sleep, dreamt I tamed him logged on at 2/3am there he was to retame ^^ Haven't gotten rid of him since.

On all: Taming terrorpene at 81, one shot wonders on two to a blunder fail on Tendo, got all cocky "oh I got this.", then blew it & had to wait all the following day for respawn.

On Tendo: It was mostly a three to four day camp of Loque'Nahak, one dead corpse to no sleep, & a few days later, & got me a Loque'Nahak.

Other than that I think those are the most long & nail biting kind of tames for me so far..

Skarr. this past Christmas Eve, after all family functions were done with. I camped for him for 6 hours, after rehoming Karkin for a friend. Was just me, and an empty Molten Front.

During this time, I tamed Skitterflame and Kirix, and something else..I forget. 6 hours on the dot, he spawns on his lone rock up top. I didn't have the haste buff from rock jumping, and since it was already messed up o clock, I didn't want to risk jumping then falling, and accepting rez sickness. After messing up silencing shot twice and failing 2 attempts, I finally get it right on my 3rd attempt and a shiny meow meow is mine :)

I still get fellow hunters asking where to find him.

Loque'nehak also kept me up till 5 am. A guildee hunter came to keep me company for a bit in the Basin. We decided to have a stable show off, and right before we both logged, I decided to check one last time, couldn't hurt right? NPC scan nearly blows up my computer with its alert. Loque is up! Didn't even bother with deterrance, just took the claws to the face. (I have a tendency to do that on tames, seems only fitting to me)

I got the 2nd realm 85 Hunter just to get Karoma first  Loved that skin since the day I saw it.

Also ran my newbie level 10 Night Elf (way back when there were no boats, and when I knew nothing about the game) all the way from Night Elf land through Wetlands etc to get to Timber  LOVED that wolf, and she still has him although I never play her.

Ran a level 10 undead to the Human starting area on a PvP realm, for a Northrend-style worg, after Cata launch--that was actually really fun :P
