Glacial Set inquiry

Trying to find the shoulders in this pic:


Can't seem to find them, shoulders remotely close, Pauldrons of Sufferance but due to the aqua color scheme don't quite fit.

Leggings and Shoulders for all the glacian set varieties were removed from game quite a while ago only ones that have made a comeback was the shoulders as a leather quest reward for killing King Bangalash in stranglethorn vale

The screenshot was either taken when the shoulders were still available or its an NPC but they are no longer able (as well as the pants for those who didnt want a dress) in-game so they cant be acquired any longer :< All the glacial sets, cloth, leather, mail, and plate had the shoulders and legs removed from the game but in cataclysm the leather shoulders made a comeback as a quest reward but the leggings to the leather set, as well as the shoulders and leggings to the cloth, mail, and plate sets never made it back in-game.

I did to a little research to figure out what era these came from, and the reason, by what im gathering for leggings at least, is they were removed from the game because you crafted them using now non-existent reagents gathered from the original Naxxaramas when it was still a lvl 60 raid. Without the reagents, people cant craft the couple items that require that reagent.

(rather depressing to know they just all together destroyed a beautiful set because they were lazy and didnt want to remove the reagent requirement in a later expansion when the frost resist that these items give was obselete in comparison to all the other stats that wrath raiding gear had to offer)

As far as I could tell, the four frost sets never had recipes for head, shoulders or legs. You had to get them as loot in Naxx 60. Please correct me if I'm wrong in that, as I never ran Naxx 60 at the time. Then when they revisited the frost sets in Wrath, they only ever added a few level 80 pieces. I guess they weren't thinking about transmog at the time and figured their use would be too short lived for the full sets to be worth all the work. Plus maybe they didn't want players getting *too* much frost resistance.

Out of interest, I just compiled an enormous list of crafting recipes that were removed in Cata and sent them to Noah, who was interested in them, and they've apparently been passed on to the itemization team as well. Whether many of them get added back in or not, I'm not sure, but at least they have the list I also added the level 60 frost gear recipes to the list, since the gear looks so awesome, and pointed out that they'd have to change the mats for them to be useable. We can always hope they get added back somewhere in MoP I'm not sure where though, as it's level 60 gear and no level 60 areas require frost resistance, or are even cold-themed, so they'd always be more of a nostalgia item.

Yeah, that pic is posted on various glacial piece pages on Wowhead and it's dated 2007. Naxx 60 still existed then

The plate set at least was a craft pattern that required runes that dropped from naxx to create

*If* anyone (On Blade's Edge) has the runes and really wants the pre-BC crafted pieces, I still got the patterns from when I ran Naxx the week before wotlk. (In-game character Ethlin) Probably a useless post, but just in case : /

But aside from these comments, i dunno what other leggings were crafted, im sure the other set's leggings were also patterns since it'd be out of place otherwise, but yea, this is thusfar all ive found to discover the origins of the missing pieces aside from them being Naxx related ^^

Honestly, i would absolutely love if they were put back into game as patterns once more, even if they gotta be MoP grade, it'd make a lot of people (including myself) very happy!

I wonder if that person made a mistake as I think there were only recipes for breastplate, wrists and gloves at level 60.

Master Craftsman Omarion used to teach them to you, as he lay dying (or so it seemed) in Naxx. He still has a page on Wowpedia which lists the old recipes: http://www.wowpedia.org/Master_Craftsman_Omarion

Miraculously he survived and can now be found in Light's Hope Chapel. But he no longer teaches the recipes. He's not so forthcoming now he no longer thinks he's dying.

Before Wrath, Craftsman Wilhelm could also make the same three pieces for players as well as the matching leggings. His Wowpedia page still lists those: http://www.wowpedia.org/Craftsman_Wilhelm


By the way, if you're thinking of getting the Glacial Waistband to match, don't go out of your way. It uses the wrong artwork and actually matches the leather frost ("Polar") set.

TBH I really like the waistband with the set, it is the wrong design, but with the absence of key pieces, i would scout out different shoulders Unfortunately ive never come up with a finished MogIt transmog to show, but if i ever go with an ice themed cloth-wearer, or get bored, i'll start fiddling with it ^-^

I'm one of those people who kept the STV leather quest reward shoulders just because I noticed it was a close match to the glacial stuff. Obviously this means clothies got left out.

Yes, the old Naxx60 crafted items were strictly bracers, chest, gloves (+ a cloak pattern for tailors). I have all the leatherworking patterns but of course no Frozen Runes (the reagent that's no longer obtainable) but as others have noted, occassionally you will find players who still have some to sell.

Personally I don't think the Glacial Belt looks that bad with the Glacial Robe but that's just me. The colors are close enough IMO.

yeah I couldn't find a matching shoulder piece, so went with the blueish dangle ones afore mentioned & the arcane gloves, there's a long blue cloak from the ''oh deer...'' quest in mt hyjal that'll fit nicely.
