In the World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria beta, we’re introducing a new technology that will enable players to meet up and group with other players in under populated areas of the world such as low level zones or areas that other players may have outleveled or moved on from.
i.e wotlk zones...and come sept 25 cata zones. As i said, expect more competition.
Also, please expect this to be implemented on low population servers in the future. Also, think about any cata zone now...some of them are pretty scarce. Expect it to happen to new panda zones too (just not a t the beginning).
they're not making cata zones immediately cross realm. i wouldnt worry about this much until you actually see what they're going to do.
as jess said its mainly going to be for Westfall and Trisfal Glades and Loch Modan etc.
Anyways places like Grizzly Hills or Sholozar at most have 3 or 4 people in them on my server these days anyways, it'll be nice to have a few more players around.
Even if they make the cata-zones cross realm too, those rares have been out for 2 years, and any hunter who really wanted a "sambas" or a "terrorpene" would have had them long ago. It may lower the chance that you'll randomly come across the rare on a flyby.

You just underlined the low-level zones, which is what I was talking about. Old content. Vanilla and BC. Wrath and Cata isn't that old yet. I also see lots of people in Northrend.
It was an example, not a limitation of areas. "Such as" does NOT mean "only". The cross realm is meant to effect ares of low population, most notable low level zones, however that does not mean that higher level zones will not be effected as well. Any zone that has a low population will be open for cross-realm targeting.
Also, the zones I believe refer to zones on a map, so say northrend if there is a low population in borean tundra, we might see cross realm there, however Crystalsong forest might not see it due to Dalaran's population. Vashj'ir might see it, if say everyone is off questing in Uldum.

Unless, like me, they haven't levelled a hunter until recently. I have to say I have been extremely lucky so far on my hunter, with getting rares to tame and also gear. I think, outside of raids she'll be my "main", whereas my pally will be my main for raiding.

Tis a new world out there.
You were right. I thought they were only going to do "low level zones" but it appears people now have a lot more competition for Time-Lost, Aeonaxx, Camel Figurine, and Poseidus now
I did see a number of people from other servers in Mount Hyjal the other night. Actually, I think I was on their server or something; the time changed on my minimap.
So far the zones I've seen cross server are Deepholm, Uldum, Zangarmarsh, Storm Peaks, and Grizzly Hills. And some zones on Kil'Jaeden, one of the highest pop servers in the game, are cross realm shared with other extremely high pop servers like Illidan. WTF?
How did we all come to assume it was low level zones? I wasn't worried about cross realm zones at all. I mean who cares how many people are questing in Desolace or Badlands. But Wrath and Cata zones? I feel like we've all been thrown a giant totally unexpected curve ball here.

It was the way they worded it. Blizzard implied it would be the lower level zones, which with that we assume it was Wrath zones and lower.
I'm not happy about this at all. I had enough competition for Aeonaxx as it was. Now it's gonna be worse.
I enjoy playing on a high pop realm. I like playing with lots of other people. But the way cross realm zones seem to have been implemented adds all the downsides like competition for rares, materials, etc and none of the upsides like a greater pool of raiders, more people to do arenas with, a stronger economy, better Auction House etc.
And this reminds me that over a month ago on Beta I saw someone from Lost Isles in Vale. I'm on Gilneas. Does this mean the Pandaria zones are cross realm too?

While I dodged a huge bullet finding Aeonaxx yesterday afternoon before most of the zones turned cross realm, I feel for you and everyone else who now have so much more competition.
I'm not sure if I'm crazy or if this is intended, but..crossrealm is working in Silvermoon City and Dalaran on my realm. Not just a couple people either, a lot of people, from 5+ different realms. I really thought this was just going to effect old world stuff, not major cities and high level zones :<
