Decisions, Decisions…

Unread post by Astratia »

I’ve recently been playing with the idea of taming a Thundermaw, and using him as a ‘evolved’ form of my current wolf Amicus (aka Old Cliff Jumper). However, I’m hesitant on making a move with this.

You see, I wouldn’t just be replacing one skin with the other, but one skin for two pets. Both Skoll and Cliff would be removed from my stable, and merged into one pet/character taking the form of the Thundermaw. What makes me hesitate most is the fact they are both beasts I really like, as well as spent a great deal of time after.

Cliff gave me a run for my money the day he made me camp for him all day. I waited for him from 8am, until 11:30 pm. Left for an hour for a Halo midnight launch, and came back to see he had spawned. Immediately gave him a personality in my eyes as a cunning wily ol’ worg that knew what he was doing.
I instantly was attached, and did enjoy his unique appearance.

Skoll made me search for him for a week. I saw him once, and saw him killed by two blood elf rogues that were camping the Time Lost Protodrake. My heart was crushed, but not defeated. I found him in the morning after having a dream that night that I tamed him. Sure enough, the dream matched reality that morning. His apperence is amazing. I love the crackling sounds he makes as well.

Now, why would I want to part with these two? Well, lately with all the beauty of Pandaria, the old world Worgs are… rough in comparison. Don’t get me wrong – not bashing them, I just wish they could be smoothed out a little. His character is starting to feel old as well.

Skoll, as much as I adore his looks, never really developed a personality as my most loved pets seem to have. I haven’t used him since the start of cata, end of Wrath era. However, I have created a second hunter (Lvl 42 Worgen) that plans on taming him as her spirit beast, where if I do go through with this will be more a reason to level her up.

The final reason is my abundance of pets – I have seven pets providing the Crit buff, and five pets with the mastery. If the new spirit beast happens to be anything that resembles Xuen, that will be six pets… So, Combining Skolls looks, with Cliffs personality into a Thundermaw seemed reasonable.I even have a little background story as to how it will happen.

So, what I’m looking for is opinions? Maybe a shove in one direction or the other? Also… does the Thundermaw crackle when he is next to you… I really love that feature on Skoll.

Hrm, here's another possibility: you transition them both separately into older forms. Skoll -> Thundermaw, OCJ -> Lone Hunter. That way, they're in good position to "pass on" if you go that route, but you get to keep them as two entities. Also, the rough worg outline can be partially camouflaged by transparency.

The other possibility is to just transition one pet and send the other to your other hunter.

It's all a really personal choice, so hopefully that helps provide some other options.
