Quick question about chimaeras, please forgive me if the answer is already out there.
Now that we can enter old raids on our own, I was wondering if it would be possible for us to solo Viscidus using Froststorm Breath. I'm still looking to complete the Striker's set, and I'm still needing two of the bindings. Still need the chest piece as well, but I know soloing Mr. Old God ain't happening.
According to Wowhead, no. Froststorm is not considered 'frost' damage. The old Chimera used to inflict frost damage, but these no longer do. It's looking like hunters will have a *VERY* hard time soloing Vic.
Is the item you need to freeze him. Freezing him's never been the hard part, it's getting him to shatter. Just equip that bow, and once he freezes, equip a fast ranged, pop every CD, and shoot as fast as you can, stampede if you have it, etc.
I literally just did this two hours ago (I had thought to use my Chimera as well), and it worked perfectly. Just spam Froststorm and Lightning Breath til he's frozen, pop Lynx Rush / Bestial Wrath / Stampede / Dire Beast when he's ready to shatter and you've got your weekly chance at a little demented glob of slime (or transmog!)
Ah, good! Apparently Wowhead is wrong on this one, then. Marked down! I hadn't tried it, since as mentioned above, the hard part is shattering him; not freezing him.
Kalli's "Drood" here. XD Yea, I just got him to 1%, and just off my chimera's breath he froze twice before I even got to 1%. Then when he froze again I just popped stampede and withing like 2 seconds more he was dead
Does using Snake Trap work on this guy for accumulating extra hits? Wowhead had a comment about Snake Trap / Readiness / Snake Trap back a ways.
I haven't bothered with Viscidus since my friend and I couldn't two-man shatter him down fast enough in Wrath.
Maybe after raiding fun this week (haha, yeah, right, go go gadget every failed addon!) I can do an old-raid marathon... boy, haven't had to do that in a while!
Editing: Did all the raids this afternoon, got 0 pets... oh boy!

I just soloed him about a min ago without even using Froststorm Breath once! Get this, apparently Frost Breath counts as frost damage even though it doesn't do any damage at all! I wanted to bring him down to 1% before starting to freeze him, then I saw he was getting blue-er and at one point he just froze over. Took me by surprise! After that I watched to make sure I wasn't seeing things, and indeed every time my chimaera used Frost Breath he was getting colder. O_O
