This is part of the Horde Dominance Offensive questline.

If you're on these 2 quests, do not engage Shan Tien - he is for the next part of the questline, Trapping the Leader. In that questline you get him to 1% and then he freezes you and everyone with you, and then quest NPCs sail in and bail you out, as usual.

However, if you're not on the quest, he'll do it, and then despawn. However your pet will be left permanently stunned. If you have the same pet out when you fight him in Trapping the Leader it will be unstunned. If not... well, I have a beetle that remains stunned permanently.

When you stay permanently.. Just how permanent are we talking? Does it stay stunned with log out? Dismissing? Death?

If it does.. That could be pretty interesting for some pets with awkward stun poses. Big ol' Rhino gliding around after the hunter forever. XD
