Inactive pets using growl during stampede
Inactive pets using growl during stampede
This annoys me, and most likely a LOT of tanks, to no end.
I try to remember to not leave growl on if it's not my active pet, but it can be hard to sometimes, and then during a battle, I use that skill and then suddenly the boss runs around slaughtering my pets as the tank looses aggro. UGH.
The worst part is that it seems sometimes, pets use growl, so after it's over, I go to turn it off-- AND IT IS OFF!

Re: Inactive pets using growl during stampede
I'm in the habit of keeping growl turned off at all times now on all my pets. If I'm questing or doing dailies I'll toggle it on just for my active pet, and then turn it off again if I enter an instance or a raid. It would definitely be easier if Stampede just ignored growl, but once I got into the habit of keeping it off I haven't had many issues.

Re: Inactive pets using growl during stampede
I've also gotten in the habit of keeping it off (except those times I completely forget) but I do have mixed feelings about it. A lot of times it can be annoying and not of any use but sometimes it's good if I'm soloing things to get my active pet a break and heal him/her up some more.
A glyph for it would be really nice though.

Re: Inactive pets using growl during stampede
I'll look into it, but is it possible to write a macro that turns your pets growls off?
I know that you can use
/petautocastoff Growl
for your active pet, but will that work for all of them when they are out?
/cast Stampede
/petautocastoff Growl
or if you would have to have something like (I'm not sure which string/command you need to control your other pets)
/cast Stampede
/pet1autocastoff Growl
/pet2autocastoff Growl
/pet3autocastoff Growl
/pet4autocastoff Growl
/pet5autocastoff Growl
You would have to spam it to make sure that as soon as your stampeding pets where summoned they would hopefully have their growl turned off before they hit/growl at the target, but it may work? Worth looking into.
And if it did work, maybe even a
/cast Stampede
/pet1autocaston Growl
/pet2autocaston Growl
/pet3autocaston Growl
/pet4autocaston Growl
/pet5autocaston Growl
for a defensive cool down for time where your pet/tank is taking too much damage and in danger of dying. With your other 4 pets growling and pulling aggro, it can give your active pet/tank just enough time to get a few more mend pet ticks/heals and save it. Anyways, food for thought and 'll see if I can find any more information about this maybe working.

Re: Inactive pets using growl during stampede
I find the easiest solution to this is the stampede glyph. Yeah, sucks a bit if you want to parade all your pets around, but it's VERY beneficial gameplay-wise. If you're soloing, your tank pet replicated five times, with growl on, will function like a Mirror Image, making it almost impossible for enemies to turn on you. If you're in a dungeon, you will never again have problems with growl during stampede.

Re: Inactive pets using growl during stampede
Get the glyph of stampede.
I always carry at least one tanking pet. The glyph keeps that pet from pulling aggro during stampede, that way I don't have to go and turn off all his tanking abilities-which is good so I can pull him out in a pinch if a tank dies and have him be useful.
