So how about that Oondasta?

Unread post by Quiv »

Have you guys been able to successfully down him yet? Tell us your stories!

I was lucky on my hunter, got into a group of 3 full raids, and 40% in repairs and graveyard zerging later, got a kill. also this little ditty happened

Image

yeah thats a 43.6 MILLION damage hit from his chain lightning beam.

On my paladin, got in with a group that had 4 full groups plus stragglers! And well...

Done him like 3 times on my 85 hunter and tried to do him once on my 85 Druid but the group gave up so I lost another chance at the mount that day :(

Can't do him on huntalot because the horde never makes any groups and because he is my 2nd oldest char and I love him so very much a faction change is out of the question and also because a need a 90 on the horde side to play with my friend.

We also have that many bones but we usually have that many both up and down... So that's a shizz load of bones!

On my mums game she's seen 2 peeps get the mount so far which ended up with me wanting the mount even more and been a little annoyed that its not just giving it to me haha
Guess I gotta kill him more all I ask is that I don't have to kill him 100 times for it...

When I joined in for the kill, we had so many people out there that the entire place was lagging. Because of the lag, it seemed none of his 'spells' or attacks were going off. He just kinda stood there and died for us it seemed. Took about 30 seconds fro any one to get off a single attack or spell. It was crazy.

Siggy under construction!

My mums game had too many people for her comp to handle last night coz I got several errors after my fps dropped to like 1 >.< don't like her computer tbh mine would lag me but I'd still be at around 30 fps most of the time, lag totally ruins the fun!

Have you seen that in China they use gravestones instead of skeletons to show where people have died? It really gets cluttered.

*squeals and starts collecting bones* yes! Yes my precious! The bones are mine! I shall haz my white raptor soon. Yes, yesss!
*ahem* but yeah, I’m not sure what I think about this boss. On one hand, I think it’s hilarious how you just carpet the island in bodies. On the other hand, it sure is a lot of work to get enough players to bring him down. You need a lot of spare time to down him and the repair bill usually outweighs your *cough* 50g *cough* loot reward.
Still hilarious to see everyone screaming in general and running around like headless chickens though. I can never see through the lag long enough to get more than one shot off but it still is fun to watch.

Seems Oondasta just isn't feeling it anymore. I mean, he's still deadly as ever, but... he just seems to give up halfway.
(He seems to only have half his original health now o_o)

It appears Oondasta got a huge nerf. HUGE. I think his health was only 475 mil. I don't really remember exactly since I just killed him.

Blue post confirmed a 50% nerf: http://blue.mmo-champion.com/topic/2574 ... alth-nerf/

Makes sense when they point out that what was happening was people tried to simply bring more players to overwhelm Oondasta, to the point that lag was killing people more than mechanics.

I think the design was flawed from the start simply because, in this era of tag to faction and 10 man raiding, you're just not going to see groups of 40 organized players in heroic gear slowly whittling down a boss.

I'm happy about this since I know I would have been one of the massive laggers with sub 5 frame rates if 75-100 players were in the area at the same time casting spells. The encounter should be a lot more playable now.

Happy that she was nerfed, it just wasn't worth the effort when she was at full strength. But I'm glad I was able to fight her when she was at full strength at least once, it was a heck of an experience!

Yeah I killed her, We had like 5 full raid groups to do it, And I think it was the first kill on our realm! It was really intense with so much corpse walking and dying, but fun too. It was before she got nerfed, I haven't killed her since. I got nothing but the ... um... "gold" pile, but the experience was worth it I think.

Welp, Oondasta is confirmed to be male. In some of his spell descriptions, Oondasta is referred with male pronouns.
Though honestly, I think Oondasta's name, and his ferocity, is more fitting of a female o_o;

It's always given me a similar feel to Mufasa for some reason, so he's always had a very male vibe for me (then again, most creatures do unless obviously female).
