Shaman or Warlock or Rogue?

Unread post by Silivren »

Basically the deal is I can't decide between an Ele Sham or a Destro Lock... I'm leveling a new toon and while I already have a Sham she's alli and this is an Orc character so very obviously horde. I think Destro Locks look fantastic but I heard Locks have changed a lot and I've never gotten one very high before. So any opinions? Pros/Cons of both classes, how is their end game? I've never done much end game on my Shaman so I wouldn't know how they rank.

Edit - Added rogues in because they seem amazing and I've never leveled one of them.

Of those three, warlocks appear to be doing the best in Pandaria, though they did get a bit of a nerf in 5.2 -- moving them from ridiculously OP to somewhat OP, in my opinion.

Shamans are doing OK in the expansion; rogues have been whining, though they'll likely do better in 5.3 since they tend to scale better as gear levels improve.

In 5.x, the three Warlock specs have diverged more than they were previously, while the rogue specs are closer. Shamans, of course, have three entirely different specs, and have the advantage that you could run a healing off-spec for more versatility.

I can't comment on rogues since mine is still 85 and second in line for the next character to level. I also don't personally know any rogues who are raiding outside LFR.

I do very much love my elemental shammy in 10 man raiding. Mobility, along with decent burst and survivability are great. AoE isn't so hot though. The better elemental pets (from talents) are useful both in raiding and solo stuff. Unfortunately, their AI isn't any better than hunter pets, so you'll have to keep an eye on them in raids. Their added abilities are kind of so-so.

My warlock is still 80 and I've no idea when I'll get around to leveling on that char. I have, however, been very impressed with warlocks in this expansion, both in PvE and PvP. I'm almost surprised they've not been nerfed more heavily.

I decided on a warlock. I made an Orc and had them unlock the name Sycorax. I was so excited. :)

Nice!

Just make sure to go Destro at 90 and you'll blow %$@# up! (Along with the dps meter!)
