Deathbringer's Will

Unread post by Jakkra »

So, I joined an ICC 25man pug to get it over with this week. The moment I set foot into the instance, a MM hunter in the group whispers me, "will you be rolling on DBW?" Of course, I say, "yes, the proc from it is so great, that it's worthwhile, obviously." (I am a survival hunter.) He continues to flame me then, along with the other MM hunter in the raid, claiming I need to learn to play my class...

Even though the ArPen on it isn't optimal for a surv hunter, it's still one hell of a trinket with the proc alone. Am I wrong?

(it didn't drop anyway, I'm sort of glad, to avoid all the imminent rage that follows amongst all melee/physical dpser's.)

(On a happier note, I won Zod's Repeating Longbow, finally! Yay!)

Yes, the proc is definately worth it. Also, with the ArP stats on it, and some tiergear, you should have enough passive ArP to respec MM, which makes it a great trinket (the HC version is BiS, if I remember correctly).

Deathbringer's Will is *best* for Marksman Hunters but it's still excellent for all three Hunter specs. In a pug, it'd be fair game for any physical DPS class, and definitely fair game for all the Hunters. In a guild raid, it'd probably be better to prioritise the item for Marksman over Survival (generally speaking, other factors would come in to play of course).

The static ArPen combined with the procs ultimately serves Marksman Hunters the most as that spec takes equal advantage of all four factors, but the procs alone are great for the class in general. The ArPen won't serve Survival nearly as well as Marksman however.

DBW is great for almost every class. But that is also dependent upon what trinkets you currently have.

It's great for physical DPS, prioritized by those to have significant gains from ArPen.

If you have a good amount of ArP, it's awesome. Otherwise it's just very good.

It sounds a bit low. What other trinkets do you have? DBW is still likely to be an improvement.

ArPen is still good for BM because your ranged damage is mostly physical. However, the overall value of the trinket for BM isn't as great as it is for Marksmanship as BM doesn't have a talent like Piercing Shots that really makes physical damage shine. The Agility and Crit procs aren't as valuable for BM (still very nice no doubt there), of course the big AP proc is lovely.

Marks has the greatest synergy with all aspects of the trinket and will get the most out of it at all times. BM and Survival totally benefit but not as completely. All things being equal, Marks should get priority over the other two specs for it, but really, I think for Hunters it should go to the best performing Hunter in the raid (of course consider the other physical DPSers as well, and don't let an Enhance Shaman get away with taking it!) as they will put it to the best use (in the Hunter bracket) for future raids.

DBW is still a DPS increase for BM, as well as Survival, so if you have a shot at getting the trinket, go for it.

It depends on her other trinkets tough. A big AP proc is better than what DBW beings for a BM hunter.

Well DBW is proving a 155 (11%) flat ArPen boost, and three procs (600 AGI, 600 Crit, 1200 AP). It's better to have a constant ArPen value than one based on a proc, so with both a big ArPen rating and the procs, DBW is very nice for BM Hunters.

The AP is a given as it flat out helps your pet (and I'd think that if you could get a BW up with the AP proc, that'd be all sorts of nice DPS), and the Crit has a nice alignment with Cobra Strikes. The AGI proc isn't huge for BM but nothing to sneeze at either.

Thank you that info is good to know. Hopefully I'll have a chance to roll on it the next time my guild runs ICC.

It's still BiS for any hunter, or at least 2nd BiS, so it will fit nicely in anyone's first or second trinket slot.

In other words, roll on it.
