Adventures in Draenor

Unread post by Toothy »

So I recently got a beta key, super excited, and began my adventure to Draenor. I will try not to give
any spoilers story wise, just share some information.

Before I left on the mission I made sure to empty out my on call pets except for my beloved Raptor and Loquenahak. I am prepared to tame any awesome beasts at a moments notice. Also the new troll models are just amazing, and I now play with my helmet hidden. (More so I can admire the new and improved model. Not because I didn't like how trolls looked before, they are my favorite race!) I am really impressed with the facial expressions, they move really smoothly and are very detailed. Not all the animations are done yet, for trolls at least, but so far it's awesome!

Now I have not gotten too far yet into the story, just finished setting up my garrison, and I was a little disappointed that those awesome purple void wolves aren't tameable anymore. Now have to wait for Blizz to make the rare (hopefully since nothing is confirmed yet). Some creatures have not been made tameable yet, or maybe they will never be so. Some of the new ravangers at the beginning I couldn't tame and same goes for the level 90 rylaks at Frostfire Ridge. I haven't used beast lore on the level 92 rylaks but I hope that those are tameable.

Something that surprised me was that you can ride any of your flying mounts. Protodrakes, cloud serpents, etc. I thought it would be like timeless isle restrictions, so this was a happy surprise. Although I will probably only be riding my favorite ground mount of all time the white war talbuk ( I think that's what it is called)

I will continue to post throughout my journey, and maybe post some screen shots later. If anyone wants to know anything about the beta you can ask but I give no guarantees that I'll have all the answers. I am only playing my hunter so dont ask me about other classes because I don't know how they work. Thanks for reading!

Yeah the tameability of beasties is a little sporatic right now, but hopefully the "taming pass" will occur in a build soon! Nothing brings life into exploring new areas quite like finding those new beasts to tame.

So here is new freezing trap animation.
I have also tamed a hydra, the purple one in northern barrens, and also have a shot of the rylaks that the flight master's keep. Kinda cool.

Also I just tamed a rylak, they are still chimeras though, and I love it! When you tell him to attack an enemy in the air it flies up to hit them! I really really really REALLY (!!!) hope that this is not a glitch and that Blizzard will implement this for all flying pets. Also sometimes the rylak doesn't reland so he follows you around by flight, and he even does that skyreaver air turn sometimes.I tried it out with a bird of prey and a real chimera but they did not fly. I've always wanted my flying pets to actually be able to use their wings, especially so they can follow me atop a flying mount. Got perk enhanced cameo when I dinged 92. I apologize for all the attachments but I wanted to share some things, put down descriptions so you know what they are.

Interesting enough the chimera blink striked up to the rylak I targeted. But he fell right down immediately, definitely cannot stay in the sky for a fight.

So in gorgrond I tamed a rylak that was sitting on the ground, and he cannot fly up to targets. So I think that only wild rylaks in the sky are the ones who can fly once tamed. There are flying tan rylaks in gorgrond I just was too lazy to try and chase after one. Also green hydras not flagged as tameable yet, but those raptors are amazing!

Also the flight masters here have ravagers, and there are even two dread ravens from what I saw. Those flying ravagers though look really cool.
Here are some pictures from Gorgrond, enjoy!

I have gone through talador and am now in Spires of Arak. Talador was a very nice place, although I wasn't able to do a chain of quests, I think it may have been a chain at least, because the quest giver vanished after turning in a previous quest. I know he was not supposed to do that because on my map it still sad there was a quest to be given here. So I will probably have to go back later once he is fixed. Also most of the moths, and cool birds, are not yet tameable and unfortunately I didn't think to take pictures of some of the birds so I'll post those later when I have time to travel back to Talador. Ravagers have their wings out when they swim, and makes me wish that they would flutter their wings more. Also got improved beast cleave for my level up bonus. Can't wait for the jikun like birds to be tameable! Now to spires!

Encountered an interesting sight in Spires. Here when you use Dire Beast it sometimes summons an incredibly large hydra, although cool at first it has become quite annoying. It's hard to target enemies when a hydra takes up most of your vision after all. (put a location of blue hydras below.)

Spotted, tameable skeleton wind serpents in spires of Arak! Just a note that you will have a guy following you at a point in questing in the area where the wind serpents are, and he will attack them when you try to tame one. So finish the quests for or tame one before you accept the quests. He follows you after you do the first two quests in the area. These wind serpents are all the spawn of Sethe so I am not sure if they will remain tameable, it would be certainly cool if they do though!

Also spotted that interesting looking new wind serpent that I saw mentioned in other forums, but I think it is unlikely to be tameable unless there are more around than what I saw. One of them was the God Sethe and the other is a rare spawn that is the spawn of Sethe.

I uploaded spires of Arak stuff first and then Talador stuff is at bottom.

*remember anything in beta can change, even which beasts are tameable and which are not so don't get your hopes up.

So the rylak pet has been put into the game, but some rylaks are still classified as chimeras. I just tamed a red rylak and it has the slow fall ability and buff, but my white rylak from frostfire ridge is still classified as chimera. I tamed another rylak from the same type of the original one I tamed to double check and it is still classified as chimera. Also they can no longer fly! Well it was great while it lasted, but good news is that my rylak can still fly even though the bug is now fixed. I know they fixed the bug because when i tamed another Driftwatcher rylak to check if it was a rylak, I also checked if it could fly and it cannot. Also have not spotted any wild armored rylaks yet :(

So yesterday they updated beta and the skeletal wind serpents are no longer tameable :( they are now classified as undead. But I still have my skeleton wind serpent for now at least. He is glitched somewhat because he doesnt have an icon but still takes up a space. He no longer has a wind serpent buff either, and is now much larger since he is the size of the normal undead mobs in spires. However, I cannot dismiss him once summoned. Also the bats in frostfire ridge are now tameable, but not the ones in spires of arak oddly enough. Anyways, I will enjoy my undead pet for as long as I can, just as I will enjoy my flying rylak. In the meantime I am trying to solve the Gara mystery.

Also Nagrand was fun to quest through but I think spires of arak is my favorite zone. None of the new talbuks are tameable but a bunch of birds and some clefthoofs ate. I also tamed one of those savage wolves that are known to be noisy. But I do not find his sounds to be annpying yet.
