My last two days

The last two days playing wow have not been very friendly to me at all. We did a ICC 25 Man run last night did 4 boses plus the mini boss for the extra frost badge. We even got the frost giant weekly. We finish Lady Deathwishper and the the Hunter Bow drops. There was a Hunter that was new to the guild and me that wanted it. That's fine and all. So he rolls first and get's a 3. I'm like YES! A 3! I will for sure beat that right ? WRONG! I rolled next and I rolled a damn 1.. I was pissed. I was like wtf. I lost the roll to a new guild member who has never ran with us before and was going on and on in guild chat about how much he wanted the stupid weapon. I couldn't handle listing to him be all pumped up over the crazy roll win so I turned off vent. I even blocked him as I just didn't wanna see him talk anymore. I eventually unblocked him because my GM guilt tripped me into doing it. haha..

So I decided I would work on my druid today and try and get into voa 25..nobody would invite me because my gs was only 2600 on wow heroes. So I started my own group and I got everything I needed and I thought I was good.. well I should of gear checked the healers and some of the dps.. We got the boss down to 4% and thats when the last person went down. The healers where having a heck of a time keeping ppl up. I noticed my health go below 50% alot and even to the point where I thought I was gonna die. So we wiped about 3-4x before I said screw this and left my own raid group. That was a large blow to the ego.. It's one thing to get in a fail pugg for VOA but for it to be your own raid group is just something else...

We all have days like this. Sometimes that's the only kind of days we have for awhile.

I've seen some bad VoA's too... it's rather stressful to get a group of people geared enough for it, and to organize and lead it. Especially when the people are PuG'd.

Sorry about that bow too. Guild should've let you have it if it was an upgrade. Seniority is important. Obviously not the "end all be all" rule for loot, but it does play its part.

You could try a DKP system for your guild, Adam. It's much more fair than /roll, and it causes less drama as well.
(Except for when a mage who hates your rogue decides to spend all his DKP on that awesome axe that the rogue wanted. *Cough*)

I don't like the DKP loot system. It gets abused alot.

You could try something like suicide kings then. That's a bit harder to abuse.
(I never stay in a guild after I realize that they have a /roll system. I just find it unfair. If you're content with it, go ahead.)

I wouldn't call that a quitter. More like a Ninja. He got what he wanted and left.This is a wake up call for the GM. That /roll loot needs to go..

Aye, all the top raiding guilds have a DKP system, and for a very good reason. A guild with a /roll system is just a cheap way for them to gear up.

Awww Adam that sucks. Sounds like your luck is on par with mine. Took my hunter into ICC 25 and all tank and caster gear dropped...took my mage a couple days later and ...you got it... all tank and hunter gear drops. I swear I think Blizz has a spy who watches over me and does these things just to mess with my mind.

What I hate is you run say a heroic to get this one piece to drop and 9/10 runs it doesn't drop. Then it finally drops and every time after that it drops...That just grinds my gears. It should auto detect who needs what and drop the loot based on what the gear is in the group.

OH btw it turns out the hunter was making sexual comments to one of the guild members as well. When I tried to talk to him later to find out his reason for quitting the guild he couldn't seem to wrap his head around what he did made him look bad. I said getting a gear piece and the next day leaving looks bad. some of the guild members are talking about making a blacklist for him.

Yeah relying on rolls for gear is not ideal, especially for 25 mans where BIS loot drops. Top end gear distribution should not be left to change in my opinion and needs to be controlled.

There's a guild on my server that has a very unique and effective loot system. Every six months, every raider gets 5 "tokens", with 5 being the lowest value and 1 the highest. They roll on gear with highest roll winning, but if the item is something desperately wanted, you bid a token which trumps the roll and if you get the item then you lose the token. So if you lose a roll on something you really want you bid your #5 token, but other people can bid their #4 and so forth. So you have to be very sure you want an item since you lose the token you won the bid with for half a year.

If the bidding comes down to #1 vs #1, attendance determines the victor. If both have solid attendance, seniority (ie time in guild) wins. If all things are equal there's a tie-breaking roll.

It's a very elegant and effective system. It ensures that people are wise about their gear choices and prevents win-and-quit players.

I haven't seen a hunter piece drop in any 10-man or 25-man ICC I've been in for weeks. Well, I take that back, one or two have dropped of things I already had from a long time ago. >.>

So I totally feel your pain. I've been outrolled on stuff before, too, though it happens in PuGs. I guess in those situations I just hope for the best.

Any pug that I've been in they make you equip Bind when Equipped stuff or they removed you from the raid. When I won the neck piece that drops they made sure I put it on right away.
